  • WOW! Not sure how I got here but I am very glad I did!! This is amazing...

  • I got to see him in concert at the Choctaw Indian Resort in Durant, Ok just a couple of days ago and he was phenomenal! He has not lost any of his voice -- he can hang it out there for anyone! He has a couple of newer songs in his act that are really great... I look forward to seeing him again!

  • Takes me back to when I was kid, we grew up on great country. Loved it then, still love it now! I have the 33RPM album and love to hear it on my old record player!.So many great songs he did, waaay too many to name!

  • This was always the song for the last dance of the evening at the honky tonks I went to as a 'young man'. A nice slow dance with a special lady.

  • God Bless You Mr. Conlee..

A Man with Class right there......

  • Conlee donated a performance at a benefit concert I helped organized in Nashville...He auctioned off a pair of rose colored glasses, and shook my wife's hand as we bid on the glasses but we lost out to someone who outbid us...I think they went for $250.00.

  • WOW

  • this song explains my last marriage so much.

  • I really like the way he comes out swinging with the first verse and thereafter. This dude is REAL

  • One time four of us pharmacists worked in a clinic where there were a couple of easy prescribers giving out the candy to the whole community. We had a big meeting with the medical staff. We four filed in wearing Rose colored glasses. When asked "what is going on with the glasses?" We said the future is coming at us so bright we will get blinded if we dont wear shades. We all quit....things got worse...the clinic got busted a few years later. But none of the Docs got any punishment.:-)

  • he sang this song on Merv griffin show and the mike Douglas show as well when it first came out a watch him on both shows

  • his voice sounds the same as it did then, great song it takes me back.

  • this was back when country music was country and actually meant something ,love john conley that man can sing

  • Yep you are right. John Conlee is great. Another one I like is Hoyt Axton. And Don Williams is also very good.

  • @johnnyrocket35 Your right, they are both awesome. I really like Don Williams, such a great, relaxed, laid-back voice. It takes me back to the day. I have plenty of Don Williams and John Conlee in my playlist.

  • I did afternoons at WKHX/Atlanta in 1982; first PM drive jock on the station. I emceed some of the Wednesday nights at Mama's Country Showcase in Decatur. Wednesdays were headliner nights. The Bellamy Bros cancelled. Conlee took the gig on same-day notice. He and his band came up on the bus. No lack of material; remember, this song and others of his were smashes, already. Knocked the crowd out. But I'll most remember what a nice guy he is.

  • wonderful

  • I think this was the first tape I bought right after 8-tracks. Played the shit right out of it. he is great.

  • What a voice. I too long for the return of country like this.

  • When you go to a john conlee concert .watch and you will see him whip out the rose colored glasses and the rest is music histoty.

  • Going to see him for the first time in April Lancaster Pa. "Legends Extravaganza"

    Can't friggen wait.

  • No "u" in Colored. :-) Great performance. Thanks for posting!

  • @rlmelco

    Sorry my mistake, thank you

  • @NotGeneWatsonSongs

    coloured...Canadian spelling eh.

  • @NotGeneWatsonSongs

Actually "Coloured" isn't exactly wrong. They spell it that way in Europe.

  • @NotGeneWatsonSongs when was this recorded?

  • @NotGeneWatsonSongs @rlmelco - actually, in the U.K. (yes, I know we're in the USA, just sayin') the 'u' would be correct. When I was younger, it was not uncommon to see the word 'color' w/ the 'u'. Peace. Out.

  • @rlmelco: The Canadian spelling has a "u'.. in the word colour!!! (smile!)

  • @leojdroffaws3 That's a good one! The moose population in my corner of the world run too fast...

  • @tdelamont no wonder!

  • @rlmelco Hey mate; there is too a 'u' in coloured. American isn't the only English language in the world you know...

  • @rlmelco coloured with a u is the Canadian way;;

  • @rlmelco Yes indeed there is a "u" in coloured...only the Americans take it out...sorry

  • @rlmelco Here in England there is a "u" in coloured so it depends where you are writing from, great performance .

  • @rlmelco Sure there is...just like there is a "u" in neighbour, favour, flavour etc. At least that's how we spell it here in Canad (and England). :-)

  • I dont know why I keep on believin you need me when you prove so many times it aint true. I cant find one good reason for stayin, maybe my leavin would be the best for you. But these rose colored glasses that im lookin through, show only the beauty, cuz they hide all the truth. And they let me hold on to the good times, good lines, the ones that I used to hear when I help you. And they keep me from feelin so cheated, defeated when reflections in your eyes show me a fool.... Out of characters,,,,

  • I think this is one of his best recordings, especially live. They don't sing em like his anymore!!!!!

  • Thank you for your reply- appreciated. I did recognize a lot of performers

in this clip - good stuff.

    Many thanks for the site,

    truebeliever43

  • Man, John NAILED that sucker and that line,"The reflection in your eyes show me a fool"....wow, Thats some heavy writing there folks!

  • He is an old Versailles boy that has the most beautiful voice ever. He makes all of his old friends very proud to say we know him and knew him before he became famous.

  • I love John Conlee's music seen him live in St.John's Newfoundalnd in Feb it was a great concert.

  • great song... great vid..

  • one of the greatest voices in country music , absolutly incredible, powerful voice. we need more like him today and yes today's country is garbage compared to this,

  • This is primo.

  • Damn! Bring back real country and dump the fake crap that's called country today. John was and still is one of the best.

  • @juichiban The irony is that John Conlee was considered more as a borderline pop artist, just like, say,Kenny Chesney or Tim McGraw today when his Rose Colored Glasses album first came out in 1978.Speaking of which,it's one of my favorite albums in my collection and one of the few that I can listen to literally from the frist song to the last.

  • kelly rowland - rose colored glasses is better =]

  • @whart12345 Get lost you fucking dumbass, Not even the same song, and this is country...screw that ghetto shit.

  • @juichiban yes i know its not the same song but it has the same name, it only takes a fool to not notice that.

and how is kelly rowlands version "ghetto" LOOOOOOOL racist bitch, just because shes black dont mean the songs ghetto, its a pop/rnb song so carry on lmfao

fuck country music anyway, go back to ur barn and fuck a horse. LOL snm

  • this is the kinda stuff daddy raised me on. thank you

  • That's special

  • I think of my brother every time I hear this...this was his favorite song. John Conlee one of a kind with a very distinct sound. Thank you great videos!

  • 2 people have no taste in music. This is a great song, as are a lot of the classic country songs.
