  • Anecdotal "evidence" and personal experience is it? OK then.

Once upon a time I was bowling with some friends. This is not my best sport by any means but one ball was different.

As soon as I started moving everything just to flowed. I was perfectly coordinated, I knew where every part of my body was and what it was doing. All I needed to do was let go of the ball. Ten pins down and it felt so good.

Had I simply hit the zone? Or was God trying to communicate through the medium of Bowling?

  • Hahaha. That's was funny I really enjoyed this video.

  • @micernice13

    Thank you ;)

  • It's not believable that a person can go from being a hockey player to a non-hockey-player.

It's not that Wayne Gretzky stopped playing hockey; he NEVER PLAYED HOCKEY AT ALL.

  • @AvatarZ

You are so right. When I was little I believed in Santa, tooth fairy, and monsters, but now I don't- Exiting a building means you were never there :DD

  • The bit where you threw your hands up in the air and proceeded to toss aside your books is pretty much how I feel nearly every time I get into it with theists.

  • amazing end to the vid. well done sir.

  • @JBeezie428

Thanks very much- I try :)

  • What's most amusing is that a feeling of a presence you can neither explain or prove is to this person greater than actual things we can perceive. This argument is no better than me using the old counter argument that it rains because there's a elf on my head that makes it happen. You're lack of belief doesn't disprove the elf because I feel his presence.

All he has is a belief, not evidence. I just wish theist would admit that.

  • @achromat666

If you received my other 2 comments, please disregard them completely. I misunderstood your comment. It's 7am here and I am sleepy as hell :P

  • @FilthyIcon321 LOL, I was just about to respond, but i'm glad you caught the meaning of my last post. It always disturbs me that theists can't separate knowledge from belief, and his whole argument came from a fundamental lack of knowledge or at least a pretty large gap in it. It's fine to believe something, but if fact can't be proven, it's just that, belief.

  • @achromat666

Oh my gosh, I felt so bad. I am run on two hours of sleep- and I was just as disillusioned as the theist mentioned in this video. Cheers for the comment! I hope I didn't come off as a jerk :P

  • @FilthyIcon321 It's fine. Your video brings the point home quite effectively.

  • "stop thinking and believe my message!"

that seems to be the christian battle cry. oh, and the nazis battle cry, the communist, islamist, capitalist, hindhuist,.............etc.

  • Hey! I didn't know Slash was making videos on Youtube! Cool! Welcome to the jungle, Slash!

  • @DarthMocha

    YOU"RE GONNA DIIIEEEEEEE

  • Feeling that god is with you means that you have this feeling. It does not mean that any external entity exist outside that feeling. God was with you as a product created by your imagination. The feeling is real but there is nothing else. If you like this feeling I guess there is no reason to deny it. You could say something like: "I feel god in my heart. I believe he exists even if I don't have evidence." That would be acceptable for everyone.

  • @tubetib

Well put, buddy! That is exactly the message I wanted to get across here, embedded in the last 3 sentences of your comment.

  • I get hit with this argument all the time. My retort is to say if they can't prove their "feelings" for god are god, then they are a delusion. They are delusional and I hope one day they will be treated as such.

  • "If anyone needs me I'm going to go drop out of college so your god can communicate with me." best line... EVER!!!! you sir have win my sub ;D

  • @CorvinusVZ

    Thanks :D

  • Well done. Bravo.

  • LOL, seeking knowledge is antithesis to knowing god. If that's so, why don't theists give up all the sweet fruits of seeking knowledge? Like cars, computers, medicine, anything mass-produced?

Perhaps Edward Current can help them out with his new car, the PrayerMax Chariot 2011. I'm sure their MPP (Miles per Prayer) rating is good, but remember you must have faith for it to start. Warranty doesn't cover operation by infidels :)

  • Your war on drugs is failing and it's not narcotics but religion that's the real drug.

  • Decent video, but as others have said... the ending is what made it worth it! "If anyone needs me I'm going to go drop out of college so your god can communicate with me."

  • The conversation this video is about made my brain hurt. Trying to understand it was almost like undergoing the beginning stages a rapid devolution. I don't know how you did it, 321. But the end of the video was pure gold and totally worth the brain-pain. :D

  • @TodayDoesNotExist

Hahaha! Regards man, hope your brain gets better. :)

  • But I love my books on biology and paleontology. D: Don't take them away!

  • (2/2) ...know everything and reality is subject to change.", that your perceptions of reality are not set in stone. Also, that knowledge, facts, structure and organization have more weight than feelings. This is classic objectivity.

Neither of these viewpoints are "incorrect", as they are different ways of percieving the Cosmos/Tao/Quality.

I suggest you watch "Prickles and Goo" by Alan Watts, and read the book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" by Robert Pirsig.

    =)

  • (1/2) I went and read the original argument. The problem is that you two have different key assumptions, foundations to your philosophies. And there was a very very ancient argument going on.

The theist was coming from the standpoint that "My reality is all there is.", that his perceptions of reality are by default, correct. Also, that feelings and intuition have more weight than knowledge. This is classic subjectivity.

You, on the other hand, were coming from from a standpoint of "I do not...

  • "If anyone needs me I'm going to go drop out of college so your god can communicate with me." LOL!! Loved that!

  • @ambygirl1008

Glad to hear it :) thanks for watching

  • Well said! Poor theist. Struggling to make sense of a jigsaw with so many pieces missing.

  • @TheraminTrees

Yeah, I eventually wanted to stop conversing with him once he resorted to emotional blackmail (surprise surprise), but at least one positive thing came from our conversation- hopefully this video opens people's eyes as to how humans can shift in our perspectives :)

  • WHY NO BLACK AND WHITE? anyways good vid:)

  • @DeadandDECAYED99

The black and white, for some reason, messes with the aspect ratio in my video editing software. (meaning it makes the border smaller) It pisses me off!

  • @FilthyIcon321 i liked it :\ it was unique

  • And a very good point at the end.

  • That's my video! XD Also, awesome video.

  • @AnAdolescentAtheist

Thanks! :) I'm glad you enjoyed. Thanks for your video, I was getting deprived of new ideas
