  • mike mccready is the most underrated guitarists of all time

  • @mrXXrauf182XX Doubt it that title belongs to jerry cantrell.

  • 31 dislikes?! What the fuck is wrong with you people?! Its Pearl jam! Performing Alive! Huh?!

  • I wouldnt mind a little dance off with Mr. Eddie Legend Vedder... sigh.....

  • Eddie Vedder gets better with age.

  • I must admit that I've never listened to Pearl Jam before but this was pretty special. Definitely a band to get into in 2012!

  • @655db listen to their other albums too... a lot of their music is really good. my favorite song was always "Betterman" and "Yellow Ledbetter."

  • @655db You are in for a journey! Those guys a mind blowing, amazingly good! But Im going to warn you, you might become obsessed ( Like me) and start thinking that most of the other bands are mediocre comparing to Pearl Jam :)

  • awesome band

  • What year was this?

  • 29 rap fans can't play a single chord!

  • Pure.

  • LEGENDS!

  • 20 years on and still more ALIVE than ever!!! Thank you for your music !!

  • Favourite song ever. Absolute favourite song I've heard in my entire life. Beautiful.

  • are and always will be a class act.

  • now your fuckin talkin..

  • 29 persons are deaf

1706 Me gusta, 29 No me gusta

  • pearl jam are still together ?

  • @oT0MJHo yes they are i'm seeing them this friday :)

  • @oT0MJHo oh yes they are

  • That's just too good...

  • Worst crowd ever. It's not a fucking library!

  • @walonsubi It's Jools Holland. what do you expect.

  • @MstrSleepMan Most of the crowd are selective, they don't have to jump up and down and scream to appreciate good music, and i think they are encouraged not to do so anyway. Jools hollands shows are about listening to the music, not the screaming fans.

  • @awiserbud and I agree.

  • how could you not like this youd have to have defective ears

  • 1:46 - that look towards Corinne Bailey Rae. Priceless.

  • Two Classic Guitar Icons in one Classic Song by a Classic Rock band \m/

  • @lehcar82. In an interview Eddie said that the music was more important than the theatrics. Wanted to show he can still get the crowd going and inspire energy just with the music alone...changed his style.. Standing still doing the head down bobbing thing..style changed and he picked up the guitar... I liked his dancing lol..don't miss the climbing but loved when he went full throttle dancing LOL.. If I can find interview ill post location....

  • what a fucking band. mike's a beast. their music never gets old

  • I can listen to this song a million times and its still as good as the day I first heard it!

  • if you like pearl jam, visit "par3oficial", its an emergent band that you will love!

  • still sounds the same gatta love pearl jam

  • great band great song great show mmm

  • best band Jools has ever had

  • layne stanley has his own site

  • Vedder you sly old dog

  • middle aged and still playing guitar behind his head what a legend!

  • Just saw them live at PJ20 last at Alpine 9/3/11 and 9/4/11 and Eddie made appearances on both side stages all day..The energy was off the charts.... They still got it..in a big way...

  • the 29 jedward fans can fuck right off

  • just fucking awesome

  • damn sounds like playback, but is completely live!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've not heard a single 'rock' singer that has a better voice live than Eddie.

  • @EARLGRACEx

    apart from Layne Staley

  • @AidanMusik well said mate

  • @EARLGRACEx As much as I love Eddie's voice, Layne Stayley had a bigger range and it was on par with Vedder in my opinion.

  • @moshtastic1993 Maybe, but he wasn't iconic enough and was too wrapped up in junk to achieve his capabilities.

  • This song is dedicated Jools Holland, that dude's like 357 years old and had all the greatest musicians come play for him!

  • grunge... one of the last great movements in music

  • CHILE 16 NOV. 2011, MONUMENTAL STADIUM.....PEARL JAM CONCERT.......SO FUCKING GREAT.......

  • Old Eddie Vedder or young Willie Nelson?

  • i love the solo so much. i miss PJ, epic song

  • watch?v=VbhsYC4gKy4 im sorry but i can see a difernet! here they allmost falling to sleep!

  • pearl jam regresa a méxico, bienvenidos una vez más

  • The biggest band in the fucking world!!!!!!

  • right! it's about the music.... we all age.. but music is timeless! That is.. good music.. not this crap commercial top 40 stuff today. That's why the likes of say.. (random examples) Zeppelin and The Ramones endure....

if you people think looks and appearances is more important than the music then they won't last long.

  • Yes they are Rock Gods :). If the complainers know their PJ history there is a reason Eddie stopped his climbing etc after the first touring....reason was not age, he was still young when he toned it down.

  • @mzk123ify right.... it was when he realised the music was more important than the theatrics.

  • @mzk123ify what was the reason, I'm just curious? I know he said in an interview that he wanted the footage in PJ20 cut out of him climbing because it was hard to watch.

  • Great performance!!!

  • Best solo ever!!!

  • Oh my. EV's peacocking to CBR. Haha!

  • Such a performer, Pearl Jams amazing music is ageless!

  • 2:27-2:55 I jizzed my pants.

  • 28 people aren't still Alive.

  • Mike McCready.....Guitar Hero.......

  • @hamblyrock God*

  • Pearl Jam are the Man

  • god bless you mike mcreedy!!!!!!!!! u r pearl jam

  • I think ed is sexy and talented and all the guys here that talk crap are just jealous!!!!!!!!

  • pearl jam, nirvana, red hot chili peppers, metallica.

by far the best bands in the world

    love it!

  • @RHCPMetallicatube pj and metallica are like a combination music religion to me :)

  • Eddie is the maddest fucking frontman out there. No if's, but's or any other bullshit period.

  • @SPOOKSTR and he is hawt!!!!

  • @MusicSoul39

You should know....your pretty hot yourself !!!

  • @SPOOKSTR ty

  • UNA PARTE DE MI CORAZON VA A ESTAR SIEMPRE ENAMORADO DE EDDIE VEDDER DESDE HACE YA UNOS 16 AÑOS

  • Thumbs up if you love old looking Fender Stratocaster.

  • @wowprogamer1

    LOVE beat up strats!

  • @wowprogamer1 Sorry, it's Gibson Les Pauls for me.

  • @palandranimike O well :) i still love fenders more but gibsons are cool too

  • Comment removed

  • @wowprogamer1 I'm sure Mike said at some point that he's had the same strato since he was very young and first getting good on guitar, it could be it

  • DAMN I LOVE SMASHED UP FENDER STRATOCASTERS IT LOOKS SO FUCKING COOL !!! by the way amazing guitar solo loved it and the dance was preety cool with that lady !!! :))

  • Ha good point. I didn't realise! However, soundgarden are the best grunge band of all time. Preferred to alice in chains, nirvana and pearl jam.

  • Best band in the fucking world.... They are up there with the tops

They were the lead of the 90's

  • is it only me whos recognised the drummer from SOUNDGARDEN on the drums ? wtf?

  • @hi0u50fd Bit late there my friend been about 12 years

  • Oh my good god, what a way 2 end the show! Makes me shiver! A band that dont get enough credit

  • Oh my good god, what a way 2 end the show! Makes me shiver! A band that dont get enough credit

  • This song literally changed my life

  • this is one of the best songs ever

  • why are you getting so upset? just smoke a fag and listen to the music

  • Voice of a god.

  • as you get older your voice gets worse and obviously dont sound as good as you did. I don't think Eddie Vedder has yet figured this out, his voice as still as amazing as it was when this was released in the early 90's! Long live Pear Jam!!!

  • he wanted to bang the pretty black lady.

  • Solo is so fucking good :D

  • Eddie love you man!!!!! And you guys are simply a gift to mankind!!!!

  • spectacular!

  • Eddie Vedder dancing with Corinne Bailely Rae = LAD!

    Fucking love that solo

  • I miss the original bassist... the fretless bass sound and the harmonics were really a part of Pearl Jams sound... =/

  • @Lifeofbass Jeff Ament is the original bassist. And the fretless bass/harmonics weren't played on Alive.

  • @zenithdesign Yes, Jeff Ament did in fact use a fretless bass on the recording of this song... you will notice it in the first pre-verse and especially the outro. =P

  • @Lifeofbass You're absolutely right, in my haste I was thinking of the 12-string/harmonics used in Jeremy etc.

  • @Lifeofbass Jeff Ament IS the original bassist dude, are you blind?? plus no fretless bass or harmonics were used for Alive EVER.. !

  • @mobzah Lol, search this /watch?v=4FhTO9EKKDQ

    enough said...

  • Outstanding performance.

  • I remember watching this episode. Pearl Jam and Corinne Bailey Rae were awesome, Jaimie Foxx not so much.

  • In 1992 eddie would be jumping round the stage screaming at the crowd, in 2006 he dances with Corrine bailey rae, what a man!

  • @Jackstanford7

In 1992 Eddie would have been jumping off a balcony or some scaffolding 20 feet down to the crowd.

  • @Jackstanford7 i like the calmer ed better

  • Love this version-thanks so much for uploading it. Oh and I have to say, Eddie looks amazing in this video-well, then again, he always does!

  • OMG I get so frustrated when I read comments about PJ being old men...WTF being on your 40s does not make you old. They still rock and have a lot left in them.

  • @mzk123ify It makes them rock Gods amongst men.

  • If I were able to get my hands on ANY piece of Pearl Jam memorabilia, I would choose Mike's guitar in this vid . . . such an iconic guitar that he has been using for years. I would love to have it in a Plexiglas case on my wall . . . signed of course :-)

  • super grunge ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ a huevo

  • Bands always do their best performances on Uncle Jools's show.

  • felt a bit sad at first watching this- like seeing your dad dust off the fender and get down after one too many glasses of wine but when mccready busts out that solo you realise the old man's still got it, suprisingly enough

  • That solo was so cool .. Abit of Hendrix in him I suppose:)

  • ...and this is how you SHOULD finish a television program!

  • 1:42 There it is! Eddie you genius!!!

  • Damn that was tame... Rock really lost it's bullocks

  • The energy this band put into a peformance on Jools Holland is testimony to the band's overall effort and contribution to the music industry.

    Thanks Pearl Jam.

  • they really are a true rock n roll band, nice to see a muscular song for once on jools hollnad

  • F'ing amazing I've loved em for 20 odd years and need to see them live

  • This is one of the best versions of this song ever! What a solo!!!!!!

  • great effort but when they recorded this song the band said they went through a phase of using lots of reverb and heavier crunch and differnet pick up settings. none of which is noticable here. or any subsequent live performance after the album was done.

the song just does not have the same feel as the album version. sorry ... could have done better.

  • @leeroy595 Your sir, are an idiot.

  • @Chevtherev. ill entertain you just this once with a reply.... id ask for an explanation but quite frankly i dont give a fuck what you think !! lol

  • Je...Eddie Christ that was awesome!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh sooooooooollooooooooooooooo aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh what pedal he use

  • Post 1994 = FAIL!

  • The Rock and Roll Hall will be calling these guys are due for induction. The greatest band of their era.

  • o solo q e bem da hora

  • Pearl jam, you complete me

    eddie <3

  • So many comments full of bullshit, just love the fucking awesome music!

  • is that a stratocoaster?

  • @Thinkingjelle Hell yeah it is! It's that same trusty Fender Strat he bought in the 90's and used it throughout his career as his main guitar! It's propably one built in 1959, as that is Mike's favorite year for guitargear, or it is a 62 reissue, a guitar he has from back in the days with mad season!

  • @MrSkAtEfReAk12 thank ya for the guitar lesson:) I think your name should be MrGuItArFrEaK

  • @Thinkingjelle No problem! Guitars are extremely fascinating, and if I can teach something to someone about it, I'm gonna do it! And thanks, I wish I did it, but I made it when I was only 12, and being almost 16 now, I deeply regret the childish name! If I'm making a new channel, I'll name it guitarfreak, for sure!

Thanks for listening to me, it doesn't happen alot that I can tell something about my favorite guitar player, Mike Mccready!

  • @MrSkAtEfReAk12

is he always playing with a stratocoaster or does he also use other guitars? Do you also know how the guitar from jimmy page in stairway to heaven is called?

  • @Thinkingjelle Every guitarist uses different guitars. Even Jimi Hendrix, often associated with the Stratocaster, used various Fender/Gibson/... guitars throughout his career. Slash, massive Les Paul user, likes to use other guitars, like the Mockingbird, and his signature doubleneck too! Mike, obviously, is no exception to this. He uses a wide range of guitars, but Stratocasters have been his main guitars since the early days. On the second place, he used Gibson Les Pauls too*readnextcomment*

  • @MrSkAtEfReAk12

because you know everything about guitars i ask you one more question. what strings and guitar does gary moore(RIP) uses in whiskey in the jar?

  • @Thinkingjelle I believe he uses Dean Markley strings, possibly .11 or .10, but not being a huge fan of the great bluesman, I'm not really sure! What I do know is, that Gary liked Les Pauls! As for the guitar he uses in whisky in the jar; there are many live versions of this song, so I'm guessing he used a variety of guitars for it too. I'd say a Strat or a Les Paul will get you (very!) close to the Gary Moore-sound!

    Hope this helps!

  • @MrSkAtEfReAk12

yeah his sound is great. especially in out in the fields and whiskey in the jar

  • *readpreviouscomment*, preferably from the year 1959, as I said before. He also uses Fender Telecasters, Gibson SG's (mainly the early 90's, doesn't really use them nowdesedays), a Rickenbacker I believe, and lately he's really into Gibson Les Paul Juniors (single- and doublecutaway's) and the Gibson Les Paul Special. As for Jimmy Pages most used guitar, I think you're referring to the Gibson Doubleneck (sg). Note that he used other guitars as a telecaster and a les paul too!

    Hope this helps!

  • i feel so lucky to have been on the studio that evening!!!! :) was special!

  • @MrsVedder77

could you tell me what year that was?

    thanks!

  • @DerEchteBold 2006 :)

  • Best chorus ever

  • This is an amazing studio performance!

One of the greatest bands of their generation or any other!

  • Great live! Would like to see King's X and Pearl Jam on tour together once again after all these years.

  • vedder, a gentlemen .

  • man the best band in all the f@cking world arriba pearl jam malp@ridos

  • man the best band in all the fucking world arriba pearl jam malparidos

  • A++

  • Love Eddie's voice!! You feel every part of his voice and music.

  • How they can play as in early '90, if there is no audiance who would feel this music... Eddie can't dance ;))

  • that was fucking dope.

  • beautiful

  • how the FUCK could anyone dislike this??...what where you expecting?? surely if your watching this you either A) are a PearlJam fan- in which case you know this was a great performance or B) you like live music -that's why your watching Later...if thats the case and you don't like that track fine...but you have to appreciate a great band and a brilliant solo..what kind of ARSEHOLES are out there

  • @dagnut well kurt cobains one of em.... fuck 'im though =P This is great music

  • @dagnut

You forgot to list "Hate aggressive fanboy comments" as a reason.

    Clicked it for ya buddy.

  • @hightdan Nice one that made me chuckle.

but honestly you came here to dislike something? makes no sense to me....I hate lots of shit but I don't waste my time watching it and clicking "dislike"

  • @dagnut Ones that don't like everything a renowned artist does. And quit complaining. For every person who watches this and doesn't really like it, there's 48 who do. So quit getting your back up.

  • @dagnut you could also be watching to check out what the big deal is, and having ascertained that it isn't to your taste hit the dislike button. newsflash - subjectivity exists!

  • @dagnut "if thats the case and you don't like that track fine" - that's how you can dislike it! but not me, I love it. I record the damn show and flick through most of each weeks content in the hope there's something like this on it. Too much vocalists on it nowadays for my taste, seems to have got safe somehow.

  • wooww tht solo jst blew my fuking head off

  • abbruzzese!!!!!!

  • was eddie dancing with corine bailey rae lol.

  • while listening this solo guitar.. my hairs were growing back

  • McCready unleashed!!!!

  • Even Hendrix would've been impressed by that guitar solo! :O

  • @MrMatdalegend dont say words that not are right and its mr hendrix pal

  • @MrMatdalegend DONT THINK SO SOMEHOW, STANDARD FODDER REALLY LOL
