  • they call it progress!

  • reminds me of the movie avatar,, when the animals took to battle the humans,,,

  • i love it when the wild horse bugs out the police horse, get that pig off your back!

  • That just shows....how humans dont do anything to help.....animals are starting to notice that they have to help out....please everyone take this as a lesson and help....

  • The people who govern this country and the world have no vision whatsoever. They're nothing but greedy materialistic short sighted maniacs who know nothing of culture or beauty.

  • @JohnPurchaseArt Pretty much the case now.

  • is tht snailsmore common

its illlegal to cut down an oak unless you have permission fronm the queen newbury may have been a parlimentary town in the civil war but is no exeption idiots

  • is tht snailsmore common

  • It was Wanda Van Der Zyden who put me on to this extraordinary video. She is one of the most decent, caring people that one could know. She makes me feel guilty for being cynical and selfish. She has suffered a dreadful loss and my heart goes out to her.

  • If this country is unwilling to live within its own means and allows population/consumption and pollution to expand relentlessly with an attendant degradation of the environment;then how can the UK's morally and intellectually bankrupted, bought by the corporations politicians pontificate to anyone about deforestation and climate change.

  • How did all the protesters get there? I'm sure they all walked there and didn't use any roads or transport to get there. Maybe they flew in using fairy dust!

  • Plenty more trees in England...a shame people like you probably worry more about things like this than the Creator of them and where you'll spend eternity.

  • Humanity will bring about its own end.

  • There are no wild horses and Newbury and there have not been any wild horses there for hundreds of years.

This is just silly hippy claptrap.

  • @Richmond1966 then were they ghost horses?

  • @Skin828 They were domestic horses.

  • I am aching inside. So beautiful and horrific

Are we doomed to cry and ache inside for lost land? Change your mind, listen to your heart. Nature is all we have. Everything else is stuff.

  • I remember the grey police horse, his name was Merlin? Around that time I spoke to a police officer who said hearing and feeling that Oak fall was like a dinosaur dying, it touched him. I hope he stayed awake <3

  • Alle WOLLEN die Erde zu retten....aber warum MACHT es dann keiner..!

  • We need to stop building outwards and start building upwards like the Americans and save our countryside.

  • @theshow2k8 Its time to stop all immigration and deport those that are here,so we have more living space and use less natural resources for there useless benefits! The USA is packed and now they will continue to cut trees and destroy our environments for profits, mostly exports to China and other useless countries like that so they can continue selling us cheap crap nobody really needs! Or they will give out our precious resources to Haiti and Africa out of pity for there useless existence!

  • Where do you think the camera came from that was used to film this video? I bet it was that useless country China! What about the computer you watched youtube with?? If you shut everyone else out we would be stuck with selfish pricks like you! I'd sooner help some starving person in Africa than an ignorant tosser from England.

  • @andusbeckus It was white people who invented/created these things,China only miniaturizes everything! The only reason why most products out there are made in China,is because companies are being pushed out/bankrupt.Third world countries are cheaper to pay(child slave labor/forced labor) so the trinkets cost less(to satisfy the populace/sheeple),but are more deadly as the safety/health norms are avoided(costs less again)

  • @andusbeckus First we need to support and help fix our own countries, better ourselves on how we function as a civilization/society,then we could really look at how we can help everyone else! That would really set the example for everyone to follow since we would be the first to apply it!

BTW I'm not from England and I'm far from ignorant...

  • @theshow2k8

agreed.... if we fill the cities with tower blocks 40-50 stories high, we should be able to accomodate easily 150 million people in the uk without a problem. this will probably mean we will have to increase the capacity of premier league grounds to 150,000 -200,000 people though, to get everybody in.

  • @horse69outside Cramming millions of people in is one thing, but how to you feed them all? How do you do you get them jobs without cutting down all natural areas to build more apartments, farms, workshops, industries and create more resource use and pollution? How much will it cost? Where do you get the money when every country is bankrupt or going there? And being all crammed up coupled with pollution, what kind of diseases will come about?

This would be completely disastrous...Sounds like Rome

  • this video just gave me an idea for a story, it's tragic haunting and beautiful all at once.

  • @unchainableaura ...sure,then you can profit selling fiction books using up even more trees, just to make you feel better or more important in this capitalist shithole you call city!

  • @Skin828 lol I was just being sarcastic about what you said. You can despise racism,I dont care its your right! I wasn't gonna post on you channel so theres no need to block me.I can talk of a lot more subjects then just racism you know. Like you can read in my other comment here,I am far from ignorant!

  • Very moving. I've never added a video to my favourites with such blatancy.

Please, everyone share this. I'm not a tree hugger, I'm just some bloke. But the narrator of this video is right. It's utter, utter madness.

  • @MrBluntCunt I agree

  • What is the music used in this, may I ask? It add such depth. Great use for empowering the situation's detriment. So very sad....

  • Horse sense. Horses will act in the time it takes for a human to begin processing a thought. Horses have a sense of honour, I speak as someone who was taught a lesson in honour by a stallion. He clamped his teeth on my arm, flung me to the ground and tried to bring his hooves down on me. I moved fast and learnt my lesson! Horses have a sense of humour. I bet those Glastonbury policemen remember the horse who stuck his head in the landrover window and neighed! Respect horses and trees. Live Free

  • This si such a powerful video and it shows the stpidness of people who think this is progress

  • Horses are very territorial animals they certainly have no concern for trees, they were most likely drawn to the odour of the police horses, to understand this video you need to understand the nature of horses.

All this video does is pull at peoples irrational emotional strings.

  • The spirit within these horses is something we humans could only dream about having.

  • The need for more roads, houses, cutting down trees, global warming, etc. is due to overpopulation. Please, think twice before you have that child or more children. There are plenty of living children, both human and non human, to love.

  • damn you human shitheads

  • Why,Why,Why,WhyWhy,WhyWhy,WhyWhy,WhyWhy,WhyWhy,WhyWhy,Why.

Those trees look like their are hundreds and hundreds of years old, can you imagine the history they have seen, and horse seem to be so distressed over this cruelty.

  • What a powerful film, you simply can't take away the power of nature, Man is lost just look at there faces they can't handle it deep down it is killing there soul. Peace to the rainbow warriors of the land. blessed be.

  • Remarkable. Speechless; in awe, and shame.

    Those horses were magical.

    The protesters were Divine.

    Thanks. I needed that.

  • watching this makes me cry everytime~ ilove the trees and the horses~ and all the gifts of mother earth

  • 14 years since we were there. watching it still feels as gutwreching as ever.. there will never be enough tears.

  • this has made me cry~it is remarkable~fabulous

  • This is one of the saddest videos I have ever watched. There are laws in Canada to protect trees such as that. Those magical wild horses appeared as a poignant reminder to all of mankind that we are all One. What we do to others, including Mother Earth and all of her beautiful creatures and creations, we do to ourselves.

  • I'm not a "tree-hugger" and don't know the whole story about these, but I really don't see the need for chopping these two very old mighty oaks.

Oaks and horses were holy to our forefathers, but it seems the modern world lost all connection to nature, this really makes me sad.

  • Thank you undercurrents. A wonderful moment to have recorded and broadcast to all who are able to see it. It gives even more power to the advice that we should listen to horses! And listen to the natural world from our de-natured position.

  • One of the saddest things I've ever seen.

  • I just wanted those horses to kick those criminals to death!

  • Brilliant. Great job. We may have lost the battle, but we're winning the war.

  • This is just proof that animals are smarter than humans. This is a sad but also a beautifull video how the horses tried to stop it. We need nature to life and so much people forgot about it . Its sad.

    5 stars

  • Great video!

    To the others:

do not mistake overpopulation, deforestation, and roads full of cars, for progress.

Horses are wise, people are just monkeys.

I would rather ride my horses across England, than drive them around in a lorry.

  • This video is a powerful reminder of the state of the world right now. People

usually don't think about how many western countries like England lost their forests

many centuries ago. The rain forests in South America are perhaps the final nail in the coffin.

Yet somehow the horses give me hope--not necessarily for humans. We need

    more videos like this.

  • Excuse me, but maybe your should read the facts. Trees supply oxygen, oxygen is what we need. Cars produce carbon monoxide, that kills people...hmm makes sense?? And you never know, those horses could have called that wood their home...destruction...its madness.

  • Chirscom28 - you need to take a science and biology class.

There is no air for you to breath without trees!

  • but... don't you see? all of that, rape, murder, slaughter.... come from not feeling like hugging trees?

  • Devastating

  • Wondrous and sorrow. when does the price become to high? for common sense to prevail. Growing trees is our only short term solution /|\ they cut tree,s down to put more poison on the roads

yes! Sound about right. Run by fools.

  • I remember this.....!!! My heart was and is sad for the loss of just majestic beauty.

Thank you for sharing my friend.

  • with so much sadness in my heart for our brother tree's...;(

  • fantastic

  • i say-i h8 humens and i dont want to be one...full STOP!

my friend says-as there is magik in the world so there is hope.

AND hes a real tree hugging lollypop

  • The English Oak is my son's Family Crest. This is a very realistic video of displaying the destruction of LIFE..

  • My son's Grandfather now has Vodafone Headquarters built on his land. He never had the chance to see it, but coming from generations of devoted land owners, I wonder if he really would have wanted such a vast man made development built?

  • It's all about MONEY my friends.. I was their during this time..

  • What has fallen with one trees knowing?

What has become, because of one horse speaking?

What will become of the one that leaves with the knowing?

As we sit in our quiet complacency,

How much do we really know?

How much will we take with us when we too leave?

The knowing is in our hearts,

Love will follow you, will you know?

    Much Love

    Jim Atwell

  • This video made me cry.. The horses were trying to send a message that we are destroying our earth.. Wake up, Wake up world is what they were trying to say.. This video is very powerful..

  • Trees have spirits? I wonder if we could call up a tree on the ouija board?, YOU HIPPIES TRAVEL BY ROAD DONT YA?,

  • Actually i never ever travel on this particular road - how could i after knowing the beauty of the place. Hypocritical because i travel on other roads? Yes maybe - but this incident still happened - the incredible behaviour of these horses still happened - look at the faces of the security guards - this video is incredible. Sad yet beautiful......thanks for it (with sadness in my heart)

  • someday someone will get a clue an listen to the earth

  • ENGLAND AWAKE!

  • I Was Crying When I Saw This. I Own Horses And I Have Never Seen Such Passion For One Objeect From A Horse. I Loved This (L)!!

  • NO NO and THRICE NO

William Cobbett would have been up in arms !!"

This BNP will reverse and stop this

  • What madness indeed !

  • Awesome video. Why do we destroy what we claim to love. Thanks to all who shared with me.

  • Excellent video!!!

  • This was a damn good vid!

  • Absolutely amazing and so touching. Animals can bring great messages

But at the same time, it depresses me and fills me with despair for this planet and man.

There was a time when nature was loved, animals worshipped, and the planet admired. But now mankind doesn't care who or what it destroys for money and greed.

Humans have truly been taken by evil. And it looks like we're too far gone to ever be saved.

Even worse is that the people who do this are claiming to do gods will :/

  • I well never understand people,

  • The obvious concern of these horses is heart wrenching... How can anyone still talk about "unfeeling, dumb animal"? They have way more respect for Nature than these men, or the ones who send them to do the dirty business. Thank you for sharing rockinfortheplanet!

  • While Mother Earth dies screaming..her cries fall on deaf ears !

Humans have truely lost their way : (

  • We just need to stop destroying everything that this planet needs and start to heal her because there isn't going to be a planet if we keep heading on this old familiar and beaten down road we are on now !

  • I'm always in awe of majestic large trees, which had been growing for hundreds of years, yet the chainsaw massacre of thousands of acres of trees continues unabated. One tree at a time, they perish from this planet and with them so much of the wildlife ..... tragic beyond words.

  • Moving beyond words.............

    Thank you

  • Incredibly moving. Trees need more respect and help.

  • Shivers and goosebumps when the horses appear.....neiggghhh neiggghhhh and thrice neiggghhhhhhh! x

  • We have enough people who tell it like it is- now we could use a few who tell it like it can be -

  • Humans are a sick and confused species. It's up to each individual to make the choice whether they give a shit or not about the earth that keeps us going. Therefore the issue is the ratio of people that care to people that don't care.

  • Having lived in Newbury all my life putting up with the traffic in the town centre, i honestly thought the bypass would ease the problems. It hasn't. I must say though im glad the crusties have gone. What a bunch of tossers, most of them didnt give a shit, they just wanted to cause a bit of trouble.

  • are you guys conservation corps?

  • Truly Excellent.

  • Treeeeeees, maaaaan !

  • The bastards the jumped up petrol chugging tree cutting earth destroying

mindless do what ever there told to do bastards.

  • I didn't realise England was as stupid as us.

Do they still do this? Oz is going to end up a dust bowl.

  • when 5 my dad lived in a treehouse where all the eco warriers lived too,i use to explore the woods by myself and sit by a camp fire. i really miss my old hippy life when i was five and my dad showed me this video years and years ago to show me what bastards r out there. if anyones seen a drama film that was on tv around 1995 called Road rage, which is about all this, me, my sister and my dad were in it :D except i cant find it anywhere on the internet.

  • progress of what ester? I see no progress here except the fattening of a few wallets, and the building of a road to pollute the english countryside even further

  • It is called progress....

  • this is called retrogression, unless you consider progress the destruction of far more productive lifeforms then ourselves.

All these actions accomplish is economical progress, for a more technological, mechanistic future. Even a disciplined half-wit would clearly understand that this is degeneracy.

  • I'm pretty sure Esterhellen is being sarcastic..

we all know this "isn't" progress, but simply that is the excuse used; the meme inherent.

  • sorry, "isn't" didn't need to be in quotes, think I meant to use those for "progress".

  • Omg the poor trees y did they do it 4

    gezzz it was so beautiful

and the horse bit is sad 2 =(

    good vid

    SAVE THE TREES

  • I spent nine weeks at Newbury as a Redhat. This is a great video and sets the mood of what happened there. It was very cold and some of the crusties were user friendly.

I never saw this but was at the arrest of King Arthur and just up the line from a guy who was dressed as a rabbit.

  • GodDamn It! Why? For what? For fucking What? I fucking hate civilization... it's done no more than kill this beautiful planet...

  • Because 'they' clearly need a highway there, they probably just are enjoying their cigarettes, not worried about nature.

and 'we' sit around and let it happen....

  • @TylerDurdenInc Chill out, my friend. In years to come, when the human race has destroyed itself at last, the earth will breathe a sigh of relief and it will all begin anew.

What we're doing to this world is nothing next to what we're doing to ourselves and each other.

Maybe the dolphin people will treat the place a bit better than we did.

  • @TylerDurdenInc its not civilization that kills the planet, its overuse, overconsumption and profiteers that destroy the planet! When your hellbent on making money, you will destroy anything that will be valuable to get that money! Thats what big businesses, the economy and the market does, not civilization! Its the greedy bastards that want this, not us!

  • This brourght a tear to my eye, how can we do this to our homeland?

We must REALY fight anymore destruction!

  • how easy it is for we...so called humankind...to destroy what nature has given to us as a gift.

  • Keep up the good work planet frog!

  • This all happened when i was 8, i live in newbury and i remember vividly my mum taking me out for a walk past what was in the process of being destroyed and what would soon be destroyed - even at such a young age i understood and felt disgusted by the devestation of a beautiful place that i grew up around. Maybe some of you that were there remember being supplied with water by a house on the towpath? The traffic in newbury is as bad as it always was.

  • Animals understand so much more than we do......but I bet they don't understand us....

  • he who is not move for this message don't deserve to live in this planet.

Now go ahead and kill millions of trees this Xmas holidays.

  • Thank you so much for this video. The video and it's message needs to be spread thoughout the world and I think it is.

    Bravo

    Gaia Anam

  • Thank you thank you for posting this. I saw it when it came out as the undercurrents vhs-tape.. 10 years ago?? It is still stunning, poignant as ever, still makes me cry. Amazing horses.

  • Very powerful footage, fills me with despair for the trees (and the human race!) but also a sense of empathy and connection with the horses, enforcing my bond with nature and the environment.

This gives me the strength and courage to continue to fight against the parasitic nature of most modern human civilisation!

This video should be spread to all who will listen.

  • Thats horrific. Why cant Man leave things alone? No need to wonder why things are becoming extinct. You protestors are wonderful.

  • As greed and rampant development and overpopulation continues soon we will be living like battery hens without a blade of grass to remind us of what nature once looked like. Hopefully Gaya will awaken soon so that we can start again. 2012 anyone?

  • thank you for this!!...i was there on the protest, hav'nt seen this before....since i've worked with horses and now have my own....when it all gets too much for you go and talk to the horses...they understand and can heal you!

  • best video i've seen in years.. Great footage. Makes you wonder, what those horses knew that made them protest so much and come so close to people.

  • this is so beautiful and dark-the five sence prison that so many endure in this world is not all there is.Karma will have the final say in matters of crimes against nature.any custodian has the job of showing care and lavishing attention on it's child-this video shows the karmic sword man has drawn and used against nature and shows us the bleak future man kind has bestowed upon itself.

  • Well said.

  • Seeing the trees come down took me right back to the days of protest when a hideous silence descended with each fell. Needless to say Newbury's traffic problem is now as bad as it was before the bypass "solved it".

    Great film,nice one.

  • Wow

  • This is very moving, and those two horses are very special. Horses, by nature, are flight animals - running from things that are loud or new or strange that might hurt them, but here these two are, waltzing up to all these people, milling about near the chainsaws. They must be special, to do that. Wild no less.

  • Very moving footage. A sad travesty.

Man has become a hideous assault on this earth. My heart goes out to all you brave protestors, the slain Oaks and to those beautiful horses.

  • so sad

  • I live in Newbury and I'd never heard of this footage, I must say I was in favour of a by-pass but not the route chosen. I must admit I do use it and I can't imagine Newbury without it now.

The ponys in the film seemed to understand what was going on and I'm actually feeling amazed at what I have just seen.

  • great vid...

  • WOw...

  • Beautiful

  • Moving. Beyond words.

  • Very poetic.

  • I'd hered bout this vid and always wanted to see it. Thanks very much.

  • absolutely magical!!!
