It's pretty amazing how these episodes are condensed without losing much. When you think about it, 10-12 minutes of every half hour show is commercials and of the remaining 18-20 minutes probably at least half of that is fluff that does nothing to advance the plot. Imagine if they made every television show this way how much time you could save by only watching the most relevant bits of every show. You could watch a lot more shows or devote the timeyou save to other things.
@nognilk if you go on it's either imdb.com it's a website that gives actors, directors, producers and movies and television shosresumes.. includings episodes..This episode and 44 others were directed by Mark Warren not Michael Warren the actor.
You'd hardly recognize him today. The last picture I saw of him from a few years ago he kept his hair cut very close to the scalp and of course he's put on weight since then so his face is a lot fuller.
Can you imagine a show like this today? Hell, you can't even say black people now without the NAACP and Al Sharpton busting down your door. America you're too uptight these days!
not to mention the social lessons you could teach them...I show classic tv in my classes every now and then and no matter the show...I can always drive home some sort of lesson with it.
personally, as long as you're willing 2 provide historical context 2 help explain why an episode like this is significant to the past, present & future. personally, i'd recommend a 1.5hour documentation called "Color Adjustment" (1991, Marlon Riggs). I saw it in a college class & can guarantee high school kids would love it & learn.
I think it is more people uptight these days than Al Sharpton and the NAACP...lots of people in the white, asian , and hispanic communities are all uptight about things my friend. The point is we all have to get along with each other whether we like it or not.
Sure, I'm all about getting along but it won't happen as long as the playing field remains RIDICULOUSLY uneven. And, as long as those that earn their own in this world are forced to play wet nurse to those whose "culture" gives them a VIP pass on everything in life, you can you go hoping for peace on earth but it will NEVER happen. Perhaps you should watch Fantasy Island instead of this show.
What a brilliant show; our school used to think this show was hysterical. Our football team would quote lines. And I grew up in an all Italian neighborhood in New York State! We'd watch this show religiously. Dee did have the best lines. I was thinking about this show, did a YouTube search, and here it was. What great memories; thanks for posting, brings me back to happier times.
@robinstl70 Nah, that's not true. Sanford and Son went off in 1977 and this show started in 1976, so they were on at the same time, so there is no possibilty of it being the same set.
that was funny as hell how Dwayne was so scared of Dee when she first walked in "I didn't have anything to do with it!" then Raj started explaining himself like Dee was the boss... actually she kind'a was
It's funny cuz it teaches us all a valuable lesson...You might think you're screwing somebody over, but you're really giving them and awesome color TV set. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been years since a family on tv went to church, who wasn't being made fun of! Hallelujah! We now recognize how ludicrous and hilarious it really is! LOL

It's funny. This is kind of like Key West if the glitterati were all black instead of white.

Can anybody tell me if that's the same Michael Warren 4:40, who's the father of Cash Warren?
nognilk 2 years ago
@nognilk Nope, Mark Warren directed this episode, Michael Warren, Cash's dad, is primarily an actor.

A little trivia about the show. Their home is the same set as Sanford and Son. S&S ended just before this show began so they just changed the decor.
