nice job! we're having an international festival where I live and they've asked us to dance....but we're not polynesian and its not our style of dancing....I dont want to b/c I'm not anywhere near as good and REAL hula girls....but I'm kinda being forced......hopefully people wont hate on us...

Well first off, all but one of these girls are NOT professionals... They are military members and their family volunteering to put on a show showcasing Asian and Pacific-island dances for May Day. As for the costumes, we were in the middle east... so costumes were ;acking and we had to work with what we got. As for the Asian-Hawaiian thing, there's very few pure Hawaiians out there anyways. They're all mostly mixed with Haole blood.

well said.... i dont understand what the big deal is over white people and asians dancing?? i'm hapa haole and look a little more on the haole side and get judged but they shut the fuck up once they see me dance but i dont get it.... i think its awesome that they did this... i have a halau that i started on camp pendleton that is a sister school to one in mira mesa and guess what my students are asian!!! and i love them all to death!!
