I have a theory that if the industrial countries cut all help to Africa and force them to make it on their own they will find a balance eventually and be able to form a sustainable society. Giving them money and food will support a population that is larger than Africa naturally can support and so the help will last for decades before anything will happen. They could make it illegal to have kids you cant afford or something too.

I'm thankful for my mom. Without her I'd probably be homeless, starving and miserable. She could have turned me away at 20. Knowing full well that I'm a large burden, and she could have done so with a clear conscience. But she didn't, rather than putting herself first, she thought about me, my financial situation and my well-being. She gives so much and has so little. That's what I'm thankful for.

I've been a strict vegetarian before, and I'm sort of on the fence right now. In my opinion, a reduced meat diet (this might be 2-4 servings a weak) is the most enjoyable and nutrionally safe route to go. I highly recommend it.

@DavieDave59 Few charities or governments actually just hand out food as a matter of course, they do that in emergency situations, i.e. famine due to drought or crop failure, mass migration due to war when refugees can only bring what they can carry. The rest of development work is aimed at just that - development: building schools, medical clinics and staffing them, digging wells, etc. People don't need to be taught 'how to farm', but I already posted about that somewhere else on this page.

I have a theory that if the industrial countries cut all help to Africa and force them to make it on their own they will find a balance eventually and be able to form a sustainable society. Giving them money and food will support a population that is larger than Africa naturally can support and so the help will last for decades before anything will happen. They could make it illegal to have kids you cant afford or something too.

I'm thankful for my mom. Without her I'd probably be homeless, starving and miserable. She could have turned me away at 20. Knowing full well that I'm a large burden, and she could have done so with a clear conscience. But she didn't, rather than putting herself first, she thought about me, my financial situation and my well-being. She gives so much and has so little. That's what I'm thankful for.

@RicRagsLive This is a very important point that everyone should think about. Most people will pander to environmentalism but not commit to inconviencing themselves. Vegetarianism goes a long way to reducing polution and helping people evaluate what they eat.
I've been a strict vegetarian before, and I'm sort of on the fence right now. In my opinion, a reduced meat diet (this might be 2-4 servings a weak) is the most enjoyable and nutrionally safe route to go. I highly recommend it.

part 2 Another thing, what about survival of the fittest? I agree we want to help each other for the sake of mankind, but is it helping us all as a whole if we feed Muslims? Muslims are bigots, ppl with laws that say convert or be murdered and it's okay to beat our women. I really don't know what to think about the whole topic. Please tell me what you think.

@DavieDave59 as an atheist, you are probably significantly smarter than the average person, but in terms of Islam, you are flat out wrong.. 1) it is not a law that you kill converts..in fact it is a law that Muslims MUST let other people practice as they wish...even atheist. 2) it is NOT allowed to beat women, that whole thing was supposed to mock men who would even THINK about beating women by saying you can hit her with a toothstick sofly (it was supposed to embarrass this man).

You are very incorrect. If you leave Islam, punishment is death. Koran instructs muslims to kill infidels or convert them. Muslim men can beat their women. 2 women equal to 1 man. I can go on, the Koran is full of hate and bigorty and violence. It's Muslims vs everyone else. Sharia Law must be spread throughout the world, which involves violence or imtimidation. I have sent you a few links to show you that you are incorrect.

I have conflicting opionion and ideas about charity, feeding the poor or donating (to foriegn countries) ... You give them food, they eat and only survive another day, but teaching them how to farm or give them the resources to, so they can survive on there own I agree with. However, do we want to help ppl and societies that have the majority idealogy of horrible bronze age fairytales? I feel most in favor of trying to educate. As an atheist, I hate Islam and its horrible teachings and bigotry.

@DavieDave59 Few charities or governments actually just hand out food as a matter of course, they do that in emergency situations, i.e. famine due to drought or crop failure, mass migration due to war when refugees can only bring what they can carry. The rest of development work is aimed at just that - development: building schools, medical clinics and staffing them, digging wells, etc. People don't need to be taught 'how to farm', but I already posted about that somewhere else on this page.

@DavieDave59 The vast majority of people just want enough food for their families, clean water, a roof over their heads, medical care, and for their children to have better lives than they did. Faith is irrelevant. If a bunch of violent nutjobs is running the show - e.g. in Somalia - that doesn't mean the rest of the population agrees with them or that they don't deserve those things as much as anyone else, just that aid organisations need to be careful aid doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
