JX-A1 does run cooler due to the refreshed 360m 40nm vs the 260m 55nm cores, the 260m cards run 90C and up and have lots of throttling problems is why I passed on it and grabbed a JX refresh as my GPU doesn't go pass 85c after hours of gaming and OCing.The G51J can only hold up to 8GB ram while the JX can hold up to 16GB but one less HDD on JX. Take a look at NBR forums you'll see lots issues re-guarding throttling and BSOD with this model(G51J), wish it was a rumor as I am die hard asus fan :(

get the G51JX-A1 as i did, it comes with a refreshed vido card which is GTS 360M with 1GB and new DDR5! and its 40nm vs its GTX 260m 1gb DDR 3 and 55nm runs much hotter and has stability issues

it does not overheat it runs hot. there is a difference. The only way it will overheat is if your fan is off or you tampered with it or both

the core i7 runs at 1.6ghz but when you put apliccations or games such as crysis, ok crysis for example uses 4 cores so the core i7 with turbo boost all cores to 2.8ghz but since the application only makes use of 4 the other 4 with shut off, if you had an application which made use of all 8 threads then the core i7 would have 8 cores running at 2.8ghz

the i7 720 can shut off 2 cores and then run at 2.8Ghz. that should be enough for games paired with the GTX 260M (close 9800gt desktop)

Im curious to know if it's possible to upgrade to 8 gigs of ram on this? The Asus website says max 4 gigs, but would this take 2x 4gig chips, seeing as this the core i7 mobile which has the memory controller on the cpu now... Intel's website says 8 gigs of ddr3 1066/1333 ram for the i7-720 but also states (dependent on memory type). Not sure what that means. Does it mean 8 gigs of 1066 and only 4 gigs o 1333? If anyone knows it would be helpful.

If you get an hour and 30 minutes on the base config you may get an hour and 33 minutes with ssd drive. is that enough extra battery life to even mention?
