@LoverDino we have water like this, maybe not snapping turtles, but we have this kind of water and good fishing in greater california..N Ortthern CaLI
@87Nbrawl I'm from norcal, I just know a few places like calero. but I haven't had a lot of luck finding cool things like crayfish or salamanders, like all the lakes are either private or no fishing. havent found many good natural rivers and stuff :/
@LoverDino where in norcal? i live in yuba city about 60 miles north of sacramento. we got three rivers: feather, sac,and yuba. to find water like in the videos its all about nor cal bypasses.
I hope you killed them humanely. You guys seem to be misinformed. Grabbing them by the tail is very painful and can cause a lot of damage to the turtle.
I understand your eating some of the turtles but just fyi for the ones you don't eat if you grab them by the tale and hold them up you can easily paralyze the back half of a turtle by separating the vertebra in its spine as the rest of the turtle weighs a fair bit and will put pressure on its spine. I'm not trying to be rude or an ass just providing some information. Happy noodling and watch your fingers
I never really understood how you can tell if your grabbing the head or the tail when it's deep under a tree root like that. How do you avoid getting bit?
You guys are nuts, lets say you trying to pull them out what happens if there head is right there instead of the tail that's a gamble your chancing to getting your fingers chomped what happens if that was an alligator snapping turtles.
According to the 2011-2012 IDNR Fishing Guide: "It is illegal to use the following devices to take fish from public waters: a weir, electric current, dynamite or other explosive, a fire- arm, a crossbow, HANDS ALONE, or any sub- stance that may weaken or poison fish." Sorry, but you can't hand fish, or noodle, for catfish in Indiana.
It is a common misconception that common snapping turtles may be safely picked up by the tail with no harm to the animal; in fact, this has a high chance of injuring the turtle, especially the tail itself and the vertebral column
