I sent you a message already but if you use the P-wing in 6-1 (if I'm not mistaken), you can reach a door that takes you to a room with some blocks and a P switch, turning them into coins.

That's odd that the Pipes lock up when you get the Hammer Suit as the Statue. Lol, I guess the game doesn't want any of the enemies to know about that glitch?

Cool videos!! I beilive and sorry if Im wrong, but when you use the Goomba shoe you can transform in the statue while being in the shoe and become invinsible for the rest of the level.

You missed the 1-up on the coin ship. :)

(IIRC, it's in an invisible block between the first and second porthole, right before the pipe at the end)

haha the tanooki statue glitch is awesome XD... I knew of some of these secrets, but considering I never go for the coins, some were a surprise. Very nice video, but I'm surprised theres no secrets in world 8. I'm positive I once had a white mushroom house appear in one of the regular levels there... but dont hold me to that though :D

@Morristownsux You have to make sure you get the required amount of coins. Even being one short will yield no house.

You do not need a P-wing to get first secret, all you need to is start big and with star, kill guard dog as star, get leaf flick blocks and run back and forth till you get P energy.

another way to do 5-1 is to take an invincible and a mushroom into the level. Kill the chain chomp and then destroy the bricks so you have space to run. Then when you get up, you have to duck as you fly, which takes practice.

Also, you forgot about 6-7. Get all the coins in that level to get an Anchor. The catch is, you need to make it to the end with fireballs. There is also an invisible coin box at the end as well to the right of the pack of frozen coins.

FYI - A P-wing is not "needed" for the world 5 music box. 1 tactic is to stand in font of th first chain-chomp until he breaks free, then use that area to build speed. For the pros, they can build speed while the chain-chomp is left in place, careful to net getting hit.

The hammer can break rocks on the world map. Those rocks typically hold pipes or items behind them. The music box.... I think puts the hammer brothers (or other map enemies) to sleep to prevent them from moving around.

In the japanish version of Super mario bros 3 there are 4 flutes. The 4th is in World 5 level 1 but in the Usa version they replaced the flute with a music box. I don't know why they did that but the secret is still something with music xD

The anchor can be used to keep the Koopa Kid's ship from moving around the map (if you happen to lose). It's not very useful, IMO.

Something else worth mentioning: In any level where you can get a Tanooki Suit from a block, like in 5-5, if you have a P-Wing on when you collect the suit, you'll still have the P-Wing effect on your Tanooki Suit for the rest of the level.

the first secret can be gotten with only a leaf as powerup. you have to get rid of the chomp to the right and destroy the blocks. you can take back the star in the later part by using those single coin-blocks. or use a star when entering ;)
