  • Just bought one new from ebay for £70, gonna turn it into a 24/7 minecraft server <3

  • i like the asus eee pc 900 in sted of the 701 the screen is bigger

  • does this have built in wifi?

  • @butiloveit yes?

  • Nice video! I have the Asus EEE 900 Netbook too, had it for a year and a half, still working great! I will be posting a review of it later this week.

  • yup i have one of those in recent time right now you can buy it for only 144.99 free shipping.

  • I should start posting videos of me twirling around random electronics, to music straight out of iMovie.

  • Thats not a review!

  • lol ( :40 - 1:15 ) freedrumlessons(dot)com? that song use to be their theme.

  • i reinstaled win xp after dosen't work my LAN connection what i do pleace tell me

  • This comment was posted by an Asus Eee 900 laptop.

  • Hey, i got the Asus eee 900 with pre-installed Linux... and i want to install Windows XP, so i've followed a guide, but when i try to reboot or even boot it at all, i can't get to the bios, because it never shows up... it just boots up.. Why is this? i need help asap :D

  • How in the hell do you plan to install Windows XP. There's no CD drive and the only way you could hook up an external CD drive is through USB. Windows XP would be perfect for me so then I can use iTunes instead of Amarok and play better games that I have on one of my 1G USB drives.

  • You can install XP using a usb stick, i did it.

  • Thanks, I'll look into it. I may go on google and see if I can find a exe. It seems kind of unrealistic though to change opporating systems just by USB drives. It may work I guess. I'll have to find a way to get to the bios and possibly change some things.

  • Just one thing, be prepaired... it took me like 7+ hours to complete the installation!

  • Don't you need wine to open exe files? Although I tried going to the eee pc website to find wine and I did. However the shit didn't work. I'm thinkin' I may have to find an alternative way to install wine on my asus eee pc to be able to possibly install windows XP. If I can't find a exe file for windows I may need to figure a way that is free and not to complicated to do to install windows XP to replace Linux on my eee pc.

  • What you do is... follow any guide here on youtube on how to install windows xp with an usb stick... You'll need:

    Usb Stick

    A copy of Windows XP

    A few hours

Then if you want to boot it, all you do is press ESC or F2 in the bootup.

  • bro dw i got ur bakc, fuk these other cunts all ignorin wat u say, its ben a month since u posted but if u still need it, i think u gotta press the high F button like F8 or F9 to go to the drivers tool box, from there u can chose a USB port which u want the pc too initiate...

  • Im saving for one of these but it's going to take like 8 years!

  • how about its performance running skype (using built in camera) ????

does it run smooth or are there any issues (celeron 900MHz instead of atom 1,6GHz) ????

  • I think I'm going to get me one of these. I need a small portable laptop for running around campus.

  • their more like palm tops than lap tops

  • its a very slow laptop if u dont clock it.. just clockled myself and now its okay.

  • Wow! Just imagine if Apple created one of these small laptops.... It will be faster than any of those shown in this vid!

I love it! Nice and cute.... However, can't let go my mac-attack! Looking at the mac air! very light!!

  • moron, apple made the mac book air, and its their slowest laptop out of their current bunch.

go baa baaa baaaa somewhere else, you sheep.

  • This is what you call a laptop

  • Omg i mite be getting this for christmas

  • i think i will get a white one for christmas <3

  • Is that laptop good for watching porn while in school? my professor's lectures are so boring

  • yes, especially hard core...

  • that thing have a Flash memory instead of a normal Hard disk drive!

    but i love it (Y)

  • im getting this for christmas, the 8.9" screen with windows, this thing is awesome!

  • thank you

  • Does it have speakers????

  • I dont have one but yeah, it fucking does =]

  • oh no now PC'S are white too JUST LIKE A MAC!

  • White electronic devices are hardcore IMO. White DS, white Eee PC... I'm going to get myself a white one when I'm buying it. The black versions aren't too shabby either, but I fancy those white devices better.

  • I can't explain why exactly, but I prefer the white model too...maybe because it makes it even more different from traditional laptops, which tend not to be white.

(jeez, I'm sounding kinda racist, ain't I? lol)

  • Hahaha, I feel kind of the same :D

  • lmao yea it is true though..it sticks out a little lol. its just so cute

  • lol

  • Guy's... a bit of advice please... I want a small Mini Laptop for College this year to use every day. But i don't know whether to get this but with a 20Gb SSD or do i get the base model ACER ASPIRE ONE. Thanks for your help... Ryan xxx

  • I'm torn to that decision 2 dude....well,I'm stuck between the acer cuz it has 120/160 gigs and this one only 20,but the again the Eee pc has a lonnnggg batery life

  • I've chossen the Acer Aspire One A110-AW, I love it man, and the memory isn't an issue as the Expansion slot accomidates it. and 512mb RAM is great for Linux.

    - Ryan x

  • so ur with the 8 gig ssd and 512 ram right?

  • Yep, but i got a 32GB SDHC Card, it adds it to the Memory, which im sure you no...

  • believe me,I stood days documenting about the acer one,Eeepc 900 and 901,but tell me dude....If I were to go with acer,I'd get the 120 gig,1 gb ram version....would the battery last long?

  • Umm... It wouldn't last as long as the model i have, especially if you get the 900... EEE Pc 900. isn't Atom Chip therefore uses more power plus it uses a HardDrive... Which has a fan it, which needs power, therefore battery is lowered even more... EEE Pc maybe 2hours... Acer One maybe 2.5 hours... So not much of a differece... Why you want the Hard Drive Model??

  • well dude there is a dif between...let's say,16 gigs and 120.I've more and more gone towards the Eeepc 901 cuz it has a 6 cell baterry, and promises up 2 8 hours o activity, also runs on 20 gigs of ssd.But the 120 gigs are just so damn tempting.....got yahoo or somethin to give me a summary on how ur acer behaved till now?

  • im getting the eee cause i have a 250 gig portable harddrive.

  • Very nice.

  • how big is the screen?? 9 inches???

  • yupp

  • woow, the HD video worked just fine without lagg :) i'm buyng myself one of this toys!

  • Right i want to buy one of these to use it for college since i do photography and need a small laptop that i can take on themove and upload my photos to, but i also want something to be abele to do my assighnments on but i dnt know wot word proccesing system it has, and can it run photoshop cs3? so please reply and help me!!!!!

  • Probably microsoft works. Since its windows OS it has WORDPAD at the very least.

  • I don't have a EEE pc 900 but I ordered one, but I suppose it could run photoshop if you put or order one with Windows Xp on it. I dont' see why it couldn't run xp

  • should run cs3 absolutely fine. shouldnt have much to worry about there mate.

  • Yea, it can run all of the modern software. Except of course the new gen games, whitch I dought it has the GPU (graphics) for..

Just be sure to get the fastest CPU and most ram! its WORTH IT so dont go cheap on that..

  • Is SSD faster than the average HD or why the fuck they use it? HD's are at least much bigger (even the small ones, like in iPods etc)

  • But they're noisy as hell. I got a MSI WIND and IPOD both which are loud with HDD activity.

  • IMO HDD's arent that loud, the noisiest component on this thing just like on most of the laptops must be the processor's cooler...

  • Trust me. With a air vent direct underneath the HDD you will hear the clicking. Poor design flaw for the MSI Wind.

  • yes ssd is much faster and way more compact as well as quiet.

  • no CD rom?

  • no where would they fit it

  • is it light and how much does it cost to buy one?

  • it weighs 2 pounds and the price varies with the amount of memory space. The cheapest is $300

  • I have a stupid question, does this laptop have wireless internet?

  • What is the physical size of the SSD on the 900?

  • Nice try PCMPodcast. ...The boot-up speed test 'shown' is NOT a fair comparison!

The 700 was booted from a complete 'power-off' state, and the 900 was just awaken from hibernating/sleeping. Even the 701 can come out of hibernation fast.

...Not to detract from the awesomeness of the sweeeeet 900 which I just ordered today in the Galaxy Black color.

  • Do you want the guy to talk a lotta chinese on you, morons?!

  • im sorry but i hate video reviews where the reviewer don't speak

  • I know, this isn't a review, it just a video showing what it looks like >: (

  • * I wanted one of these but then I saw the 4GB HDD... And then bought a macbook (250GB HDD). A lot better for music.

  • it was good but dont put music but ye I REALLY WANT THIS LAPTOP

  • Fucking hell SPEAK for fucks sake!!!

This is supposed to be a review, right????

  • i wouldnt use it as my main computer but it would be good as a computer just for listening to music, watching movies, and instant messaging

  • That's the point.

  • i want it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You guys make a realy nice work in the video, thank you.

  • I WANT ONE SO BAD

  • Nice video. Thanks.

  • The music is a jingle from Apples Garageband.

  • whats the music?

  • Can you install some online games in this notebook ex. WoW or something?

  • yes wow will work fine but some of the newer games prolly wont. Search ASUS EeePC 900 3dmark 01 you can see it runs fine. just play wow in normal settings nothing high

  • thank you very much it really helps and im dying to have 1 right now ^_^

  • yea this is a great laptop to farm honor points with in class. it will run wow over 30 fps easy on normal settings and low setting probably 50 fps+

  • hey check this out. watch?v=KKNRxuqmHa8 . That guy is playin wow on a lower version of this laptop and it runs ok, this model 900 should run it fine.

  • This isn't a review. This is "Hands-on". Stop false advertising.

  • Merci , 1000 x for Demo. :-)

  • Can someone tell me if this is only for girls?

  • No, there's no way that this is just for girls.

  • winders sucks

  • Glad they made a comparison with the 7" model....gonna get me the 9" some day :)

  • Never heard of an external optical device?

UMPC's are made for mobility, and thus not fully loaded with hardware.

And that's why it's so small and light.

  • Great review! Thanks PCM !!

  • for shcool retard some people actually go there

  • Im in college...and well quite frankly I cant use it for documents, media, or classwork. I can't run any sort of moderately demanding software on it. And of course I cant install any of the cd's in the back of my books because it has no RW Drive....(Do you guys even have a brain or just like pretending???)

  • really?

I'm a writer and actually use it as my work computer. I do my presentations, scripts and other stuff and works amazing.

I'm using a light version of win XP.

  • "I cant use it for documents, media, or classwork. I can't run any sort of moderately demanding software on it."

how can you make claims that you "cant do this or that" when you've never used one?

like i said on your copy/paste post on other vids -- if its not for you then get something else -- but there ARE people who NEED the ultra-portability, and its inability to run gears of war DOSENT F'ING MATTER TO THEM!

  • ...The basis that you can't simply place a DVD or CD into the thing, the hard drive space is too small to use it for any type of real media, the resolution is low, the screen doesn't allow for large PDF viewing, and a host of other issues makes this a moot device. Justify it...when has a light laptop been just too heavy??? A 13.3" laptop gives you both better performance and "more" portability. Your defending a statistically failing item...

  • "you can't simply place a DVD or CD into the thing" - as i keep saying over and over, i dont NEED to.

"the hard drive space is too small" - 20 gigs + the ability to add HCSD cards is plenty... if not, i'll mod MORE flash on the unused internal USB.

"the resolution is low" - 1024x600 is fine.

*YOU* should never ever ever buy one of these because it doesnt suit your needs. why dont you just be open minded enough to realize not everybody's needs are identical to yours?

  • Hi,

what would you suggest between Eee PC900 and MSI Wind PC? TNX

  • I LOVE THIS PC!!!!!!!!!

  • wow cute pc's

  • linux must suck.... package dependancy hell, new distro's comming out every few months, bloody RPM's, GTK..., open office which takes 20 times longer to open a document than MS Word. XP is stable and compatible for desktop users on the move. Keep Linux on the server side where it belongs!

  • I've got different experiences on Linux. Once you get it running, it's ok. Especially for a UMPC laptop like the EEE PC. Linuc doesn;t need as much resources as well as memory (HDD-space, as well as RAM). On the EEE PC you only do some wordprocessing, e-mail and internet. So even when you don't really know linux distro's, they are still the better choice.

  • Also, the Windowsversion well be more expensive....

  • eeew!

Who put that windows on it!

  • Why windows??

could you show it but with Linux, please?

how much does micro$aft pays you to make this?

  • Correct. This is an overview not a review.

  • thanks for the fucking OVERVIEW. This is NOT a review. If anyone couldnt have guessed it without this little video, yes, you can type, surf the net, and compare it size wise to a goddamn magazine. all this served to do is prove to everyone that you have a working model. congrats........ -_-

  • the eee 900 looks sweet, but its price tag is significantly higher than the original and is now competing with fully fledged (but low end) laptops.

  • Not a review...

  • I know they're working on 901 version, no idea on what would be changing on that.

  • i want it lol my laptop is too heavy to carry around with me lol

  • ASUS need to make the next eee pc 10 with a resolution of 1024:768 and a TOUCHSCREEN!!! And if it could be a floppy moving screen, the better... Unfortunately it would make the price much greater.

HOWEVER a touchscreen would probably enlarge the price only with 70$.

Also, I'd recommend them to make the next generation upgradeable, so that one could change the proc with a PentiumM ULV or add some more RAM... IT'D BE JUST PERFECT!

    Go eee pc, go~~~

  • The cheapest version at $550 is still kinda steep.I think it's just ideal for college students. If you are gonna spend that much and want portability. You can get a used 12"-13" laptop for around $400.Saw a Mac G3 900ghz for $400 last time..although thats a bit heavy.

  • 900 GIGAHERTZ!!!!!!!!!

  • OVER 9000!!!!

  • LOL!!!!!!!!!! i want one :P

  • its actually 900 mhz lol. there is no such thing as a 900 ghz processor

  • Yeah dude I know that............mayb supercomputers dont even have tht........i was jus bein sarcastic :P :P

    Thnx neways

  • wait, this thing can run 1080p video?? i didn't expect that. well, a shame the resolution of the screen is only 1024x600.

  • how much memory do you come with, elwinderzoid?

  • i wish i came with a little more memory but i kinda want one anyways

  • the 900 series has a superior linux version, sucks that my local computer shop refuses to carry the linux option because they're windows fanboys. :/ it's easier to buy from there than suffer shipping costs.

  • true. but if it's something you're going to have for a while and use a lot, don't you think it would be worth it? lol a bit silly that they don't carry it jsut because they like windows. i would be angry if i were you ^^

  • After eeepc 701, i won't buy asus product anymore.

  • Why is this? I'd like to know as i am wanted to buy the eee pc 900

  • mainly because he's a retard. it's a great computer, i have the 701 and i would never go back to a full size or HDD laptop. linux is the better option over windows though by far..

im waiting to get the 900 as well. solid state is great

  • i would like to know aswell =/ i have heard many many good stories about it, i'm looking forward to buying a 900! so portable too...

  • why?? before 900, eeepc just a littie rubbish for me

  • I WANT PINK :( sad wawa they dont come in pink So sad!!! hurry up and make them in pink!!! thanks for the vid

  • I KNOW RIGHT! i want a pink one, black is not my colour and when people see you with a white one they think you're trying to copy an apple laptop or something. plus they're way to plain. i like colour, and i like pink! lol.

  • It would be neat to see a comparison with a standard piece of paper with the Asus Eee PC, but the magazine is a pretty good module. How much do they cost, anyway? And, what type of processor was that?

  • i'm not sure where you come from, but in australian money the XP version will cost $599 initially and the linux version will cost $649. however, it will be harder to find, apparantly. no idea about the processor, i don't know a thing about computers =P lol

  • im going to get a black one with 12giges

  • but new 900 series are only white color version, or black too?

  • white color in stock now and black one is coming.

  • not much of a review if nobody is talking about it!?!

  • and does anybody know when it will be released in europe?? like in austria or slovakia..

  • Yeah it might be tiny, but it looks so cheap and plastic

  • It is cheap and mostly plastic! That's the point. Light weight and low priced.

  • Well my cousin bought his wife HP for about 300 EURO, which is cheaper than this one and it was 15 inch

Yeah yeah, i know, that for someone too big, but the price was lower

  • Instead of comparing the EEE to some generic 15" laptop, you should compare it to other subnotebooks. You would then notice that subnotebooks are usually about three times more expensive.

  • Thats the only point. But I would still buy a 15,4 laptop.

  • no atom processors?

  • Unlike the 701 version, this new version has just one color (white)?

  • no it has black too..but i heard there might be some other colors later:)

  • i can actually recognise chinesse and japanesse hands ;p

  • I always wondered why they didn't wait another month and put in the new Intel Atom processors. Or for that matter Bluetooth.

  • My theory this is due to competition. Whilst stocks for the 700 series are at all times lows they wanted to bring out another laptop to get their name back in the game with a much more attractive proposition. Now later on when the competing (Eleanex I think it is) gets released, their new Atom processor sporting model will be released, and everyone will be so happy and touting about how 'finally at last it's here' everyone will get the Asus over the (Eleanex).

  • should have bluetooth and express card slot build in. The speed is too slow for my application, I'll wait until it get at least 1.5ghz in speed in single mode.

  • ok ive been lookin into this lil notebook over the past few days after seeing it mentioned in popular science magazine and am lookin into gettin one for school.. but because im not exactly tech savy, could someone please explain how you get around the whole not having a cd drive? im really interested in this, especially since the thing can play dvds an such. sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but a reply would be much appreciated

thanks in advance for the help

  • I think the easiest way for you to do that would to buy an external one, I bought an Xbox 360 hd dvd player (they are really cheap now) and it does not need any drivers to use with the eee pc. This was nice because it only cost me $50, but then again it does not burn dvds or cds. There are other externals that do have those features.

    Hope this helps.

  • poor idiot.. he is just a troll.. who would istall windows crap instead of linux? poor looser, and ignorant.

  • lol, correct

  • Somebody who likes playing games for starters.

Linux is shit (with a capital S) if you want entertainment from your PC.

  • the intention of eee obviusly is not for playing games.. and btw some good games can run on linux.. there is wine and cedega.. i had run oblivion on my desktop.. anyway, in my opinion. to run games, i think a ps3 is a best idea (at least cheaper)

  • i agree, both hav advantages but windows is entertainment and more spupported by the software business

  • Only if your idea of entertainment is limited to games. Personally i count movies and music as entertainment as well. Most Windows games won't run on the EeePCs limited resources anyway so I don't see any reason to run Windows on it.

  • Can anyone tell me.. is this new asus out???

If not, when will it be out?

  • 19-Apr on Sale at Hong Kong

  • it'll be out in the US may 12th

    i think its $549

  • im satisfied with 13" its light and easy to carry and its gt good graphics and processor so its gr8 for CAD work at college. onli problem is tht its runnin on vista cutting my ram

  • i am satisfied with my 701, the screen is ok..

anyway, does this version have speakers?

    i cannot see them

  • apparently the speakers are moves to the bottom of the computer.

  • I've been using notebook computers since the very first one, the Data General machine, back in the 1980's. And it's my opinion that with this machine, notebook computers have finally ARRIVED! This is what a notebook computer wants to be.

  • will this version be running on windows xp only... or will they have a linux version too?

  • Models with Xandros preinstalled will still be available.

  • Hmm, I may just consider purchasing one of these little things.
