  • this was their original drummer. there is footage from 87-88 on youtube. he left in 88 i think its wierd to see him drumming for them again lol

  • JAY LANE!!!!

  • holy shit, when you get the chance, look at the mallet on the kick drum and how fast it moves, it moves faster than the shutter speed ont he camera.

  • @InfiniteRhombus

I was wondering about that. Do you know if he uses a double kick pedal, or does he just have some insane heel-toe technique?

  • @lughddepaor combination of both i would suppose

  • No tool hasn't toured in like 37 years...lol ;)

  • @sickdrummerdotcom More like 10,000 days ;P

  • This might sound stupid, but is there one of these for Danny Carey?

  • how much nervos a man can be ....

  • 2 things:

1.) Buy the album 'Sausage - Riddles are Abound Tonight'.

It's Les Claypool, Jay Lane & Todd Huth

2.) Jay Lane will be on the new(!) Primus album.

  • @MikeRoePhonicsMusic Been dying to get Riddles, finally gave up and ordered off amazon

Anddddd going to see Primus in June!

  • pretty kit

  • Seeing Primus tonight Melbourne!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ler smiling?

    Wow.

  • what song is this

  • @DrumBum561 To Defy the Laws of Tradition off " Frizzle Fry"

  • are you ever gonna post the other videos of jay?

  • @DragonSyndicate1 We will be posting more of Jay with the Interview we have coming from him. I believe in the January 2011 Issue.

  • does anyone know what size Jays china type is?

  • @tikimojoe He uses Bosphorus Turkish Cymbals, and my guess is that it is an 18.

  • tim alexander is way cooler then this guy he was awesome on suck on this

  • @MrMatt29999 Jay had a big part in writing the Frizzle Fry tunes.

  • lol did someone throw a rubber

  • @bojanks15 lol yah :)

  • saw them on the tour in ohio at the now famous bottle throwing show.

    jay was sick all night.flawless.

  • @TECHNOID69 same here got hit a couple times :)

  • one of my favorite cuts from primus, incredible drumming. i saw them on this current tour in august, and it was one of the best shows of my life. not only the music but the crowd rocked out and made it awesome.

  • Nooo... por qué no está Herb la p madre... este es un fiasco! :'(

  • I cannot wait to see this upcoming interview you speak of. I'm one of the specks in the audience, and let me tell you, the band was tight and the crowd (myself included) was really into it. Really looking forward to it, and thank you for filming and posting this.

  • @fastaslp Ya was a great show and the Crowd WAS totally into it! Thanks for the Support!

  • Jay lane was the original drummer of primus back when todd Huth was playing guitar, then Brain got the offer to join but due to a broken ankle(skate boarding accident) was forced to turn down the gig, then Herb came along, and ler as well, then Tim left in the mid 90's Brain rejoined, then left to go with Shunts n Roses,Herb got back into the fold, then left again and now it Jay Lane...

  • Frizzle Fry(89-90), Sailing the Seas of Cheese(92-93),Pork Soda(95-96) had Tim"Herb" Alexander Drummer he also played Woodstock 1994

  • i fucking love this video.

  • What's so sick in playing 1 lick for 7 minutes???

  • @albertdrums We also do what are called "Off-Beat Interviews" in our magazine and feature other types of drummers/musicians... This footage is for one of those upcoming interviews...

  • @albertdrums well, its not the best song to show case his absolute skill and pure talent, but i just saw them last night and he was fucking fantastic, hands down one of my favourite drummers. His solo was amazing but a great drummer isnt all solos and fills

  • @albertdrums Being a "sick" drummer doesn't revolve in always playing blast beats/double kick.

  • @SymbioticMonarch *revolve around

  • @SymbioticMonarch Highly overrated.

  • @Zeta9966 What?!

  • @SymbioticMonarch You said "being a sick drummer doesnt revolve in always playing blastbeats/double kick" and I was agreeing as in "Yes... highly overrated."

  • @Zeta9966 Ah, righto.

  • Great upload. Though Tim Alexander was my favorite, mostly because Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda are my favorite primus records, Jay is still a beast and its good to see him back with the band.

  • 7:15

  • Jay is the man! He's the perfect fit....style and attitude-wise. Three me of extreme f***in power!!!!!!!11

  • Jays playing is beautiful!!! use caution when listening to Jay he will over power you!!!

  • What happened to Brain and Herb? This guy started the song too early. :\

  • @jr0014 Jay Lane is the Original drummer.

  • @sickdrummerdotcom Brain is the original drummer, actually. I forget what the circumstances were for Tim Alexander taking his place before they hit it big, however (broken leg or something, maybe). Jay Lane played on a lot of Les' solo projects as well as with Charlie Hunter, I believe.

  • @mattwalker21 Actually, Jay is the "Founding" drummer for Primus, but did not play on the first few records. The band was called "Primate", before becoming Primus.

  • @sickdrummerdotcom Really? That's interesting. My source for the above was a DrumChannel interview with Bozzio and Brain, who said he first started jamming and playing with Les and something or other happened and Herb joined the band and did the first handful of records.

  • @mattwalker21 Jay was around before Brain/Herb, like SickDrummer said. Jay had a big part in writing a bunch of the stuff that was on Frizzle Fry. You can hear their old demos on youtube back from 87/88 when Jay and Huth were in the band.

  • @mattwalker21 Tim Alexander was long before Brain, and pretty much the first drummer of the band, dating back to 1989. Brain was not in the band until 1996. They went through a few drummers way back in the day, but Jay was a founding member of Primus.

  • @sickdrummerdotcom Brain was playing with Les/Primus before Herb was around, as far as I know. Brain didn't record anything with them until '96, but he was playing with them and the relationship with Les was there before he joined them officially and recorded the Brown album etc.

  • @mattwalker21 Right on...

  • @jr0014 Herb didn't want to do it, Herb hated being in Primus, etc. Jay Lane is Les's favorite drummer, he's brought a whole new breath of energy into the band again. They're all having a blast up there, Les said this incarnation of Primus is the most he's ever rehearsed in his life for the upcoming album.

  • @jr0014 Nah it was fine.

  • more vids like this guys!

  • PRIMUS SUCKS :)

  • @KingDodongo200 OH MY GOD DUDE, DO MORE GH2 CUSTOMS! D:

  • what kind of hihat and ride does he use?

  • @yuumaha He uses Bosphorus Cymbals...

  • Holy shit, fuck yeah! Primus is the shit, didn't exptect this from sickdrummer but it was nonetheless sick!

  • I WANT THAT SNARE!!!

  • wow i love how that snare sounds

  • This is quite a break from your usual content!

  • @silversnakeseven ya the other stuff we have coming up from Jay is really good a bit faster to ;)

  • had no idea Primus got back together!

  • @KHfan4ever23

they've been back since 2003 haha.

  • FUCK YEAH PRIMUS! Masters of Groove!!! So glad to see them back :D

  • Damn I am at most of the shows you guys post from California. Awesome, thanks again for always posting them.

  • @guitardude1230 NO thank you for watching and supporting great music!!
