a) It's obviously true that certain drugs make your eyes look weird. And yes, the cops (or your mum) can spot this. So why bother CGIing the eyes to make them look so totoally unrealistic? It just distracts from the small grain of truth embedded deep within the ad.

b) It's a warning: NEVER stare at the cops! Don't make eye contact, and you'll be right.

I was one of the people who worked on this ad, (in a post prodution capacity) What the police/Think Campaign doesnt tell you is that the police will be testing the size of peoples pupils next to a chart (which I have seen)the card has pinhole examples of pupils of someone on "e", "coke", "opiates" "cannabis" etc. It was decided at a late stage not to include that detail in the ad. Just letting people know.

I love how the guy is driving relatively safely AND the whole eyes themselves are blown out of proportion.

Whilst many drugs - like drink - can have an adverse effect, this advert does not focus on WHY. One exception to the rule is cocaine; the only effect it has that is dangerous is  a psychological one in that you may take silly risks... which you could do without it anyway if you're a moron. Conversely, someone very sensible on coke may not be a moron even on it.

I can't speak on behalf of class-A driving but weed I think it makes you slow down, become more aware of whats going on around you (slight paranoia I suppose) and makes you less bothered about overtaking and potentially putting yourself in harmful situations. 420 driving is the future!

The message the advert is saying is that when you have had drugs your eyes are a dead give away and showing them with huge eyes is basically telling you it can be spotted from quite a distant. for example :- wide or wild eyed, pupil dilation, red eye, paranoia and the main one is if someone is overdosing or overdosed there iris might totally turn yellow or even white.
