  • Omg so cool

  • Amazingly beautiful... Orcas are my favorite animal, and to see them so nice =) And the setting of this video is so gorgeous! This, by far, is my favorite video on Youtube. ♥♥

  • Awesome, I need to try this one day!

  • unreal!

    (green with envy)

  • Orca: "Yes yes, amazing, the haddoc are in a densely packed, easy to catch ball. It took me the better part of an hour to get them like that, so bugger off before you ruin it"

  • Awesome dive guys

  • people dont understand that dolphins/orcas sonar identifies humans as one of them.....they can hear our heartbeat etc.....they basically see us as one of their species...thus they dont see us as food source and so not attack us.

  • @makaveliguy how can you be so sure that their sonar identifies us as one of them?! i think that the orcas simply is not interested and they cant tell that this is an edible species because we are new to them ...but if they knew we where an easy bite they would not hesitate ...if they usually dont eat their species how come orcas eat dolphins sometimes ?

  • 3 people are afraid of water

  • How are these guys possibly nuts? These are beautiful creatures who are harmful, and it's all very peaceful. It is my dream to do this with sealife, but mainly orca's and sharks. If you think they're nuts, then what is life? :)

  • are these guys nuts?

  • This is my dream to freedive and possibly touch one :) Probally not but i would love to freedrive with my favorite animal. :)

  • wow. this is incredible.also amazingly beautiful mountains in the background. to all those people that are wondering about attacks, there have been no recorded wild killer whale attacks, killer whales attack in captivity because they are stressed, isolated, overworked, and confined. id be pissed if i was in a situation like that to.

  • oh my god, how amazing is this! this must have been soooo beautifull!!!

  • what if the orca attacks him? isn't he scared?

  • the Most Beatiful and powerful mamal.

  • @3:21 "the orcas are trying to avoid us"

    Why?

They are obviously not afraid, so I imagine you were getting in the way of catching those herring. How do you interpret it? And how do you justify it?

  • MY DREAM! right here on tape!

  • Zomg, wow! I love orcas, but I don't think I could do 4 degrees. Are you wearing a dry suit?

  • @Keiko8383 Its a wetsuit obviously...

  • Comment removed

  • @Keiko8383 Yeah I think I know what a dry suit is. :')

And forgive me if Im wrong, but I wore suits like this when swimming in 5*C water. So I assumed these are wetsuits too... And drysuits look way bigger and complex. Dunno how to say it :|

  • they are so beautiful

  • are there any organised killer whale freedives?

  • fan f**kn tastic

  • wow that is stunning!

  • If u tell me ur gonna leave me alone with a tiger in a cage or with an orca in ocean i would love to b with the tiger !!!!

  • @rredxxrussell Well your current choice is more likely to kill you than being in the ocean with an orca lol. Just because they are efficient and tactical hunters doesn't mean they are mindless killing machines. You underestimate how intelligent they are. You're more likely going to get attacked by a tiger in the wild than an orca. There are no current records of an orca attacking a human.

  • I would have literally shit myself...

  • I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous

  • some beautiful images in this video. Such an experience. I wish i could do this

  • I think I'd poo my pants

  • How do they not mistake you for a seal?

  • Before I die I want to do this too!

  • lol or to die? =P

  • This would be suuuch a thrill! Imagine the adrenaline rush!- Soo jealous!

  • what type of monofin do you use ??

    This is incredible !!

  • @superman1309 Of course, if you piss one off somehow, it's a different matter (though as I said it's never happened). We're way too small to be a threat to them while in the water, and since people don't jump in with them regularly like they do with bottlenose dolphins, they have no reason to be annoyed or upset by our presence.

  • Not "when". There are no recorded attacks for a reason. Even bottlenose dolphins are known to sometimes be aggressive towards humans, but there have been no recordings of an orca attacking a person. They have strong cultures, and eat what their cultures dictate. That is not us. It's exactly the same as how the western world does not eat dogs. Culture is key in orca life, it's why it's relatively safe to swim with them.

  • @nat365 There was supposedly an attack in 1972 on a surfer.

  • @hmj211 Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. However, when I read says he was knocked off his board, but nothing else happened (in a couple of places it's claimed that he was bitten, but from what I could find it that seems to be false since in more legitimate articles it mentions that though some say he was bitten it's actually not true). I'd assume the animal was curious, or it was an accident of some kind (we know they sometimes run into propellers, a board isn't a stretch).

  • @nat365 There was supposedly an attack in 1972 on a surfer.

Does anyone know where this was taken?

  • @superman An orca's echolocation is so accurate they can actually tell the difference between different species of salmon and go for their preferred prey species. In the water, they're going to know that you're definitely not a seal or a dolphin. The only two recorded "almosts" with wild orcas were both when the people were out of the water, one was a boy in shallow water filled with seals and one was a man on an ice floe with barking dogs. Both times the attack was aborted before contact.

  • Big Brass Balls....holy cow!

  • that place looks so cold

  • if the orcas are trying to avoid you.. shouldnt you let them be?

  • WOW! wish i could DO THAT!

but where'd u get the tail flipper from?

  • All i would be thinking was crap don't let a shark see me like this.

  • Your technique suck compared to those fat guys in orca suits :-)

  • LOOL!

  • Orcas are a subspecies of dolphin. As such, it must be similar to swimming with dolphins... just bigger. Just make sure you don't look like a tasty seal in that drysuit. LOL! Nice video, I'm very jealous.

  • woah, id pee my pants :]

  • Amazing video! You're so lucky to swim with orcas!

Wish I could do that someday...

  • How awesome!!

    I wanna do that too!!

  • these are transient orcas! amazing! i bet the water was freezing! it looks like an amazing experience

  • Wow! What an awsome experience!!

I just have to see this for myself one day!

    Loved the video!

  • I'm just saying what I think. And there's nothing wrong with that.

We both appreciate this video so I think thats good =)

  • That's awesome! Great video.. I would love to do that some day.

I think it's wonderful that you guys went out to see the wild orcas instead of seeing them locked up in captivity. It's so much more magical and unique to see them in the wild.. in captivity, everyone sees the same show but in their natural habitats, you get to see something special =]

  • Nice!

Seb, call me when you decide to go for the sperm whales in Azores ...
