my speculation is, taken from the wow population, 60% will stop playing wow to play gw 2, then after a while 30/40% will return to play both, and the remaining will stick to gw2
I dont think there will be more then 5% who will return to wow, because mainly they would never has left wow in the first occassion, so i think wow will lose 25%/33% of his stock

You might miss a few points here and there, but I don't think so. Go to guildwars wiki and read up on some lore, or check out woodenpotatoes channel, he's got a lot of indepth information.

@Circus2999 Dont need any past game, this is not an expansion. If you played guild wars 1 you will have bonus items depending on your accomplishments, however all of the bonus items are still obtainable if you were to buy guild wars 1 right now and try to earn them ( they are extremely hard and take awhile ). Bonus items will be obtainable through guild wars 1 even after guild wars 2 is released.
@ChristheNinjaOrDie It's not a scaled down version, it's just that Guild Wars 2 has a different art style than Guild Wars 1. So the graphics are not bad, they are just different.
@7VECRO I agree and I hope it is. I'm starting to miss the time I spent on WoW (Pre-WOTLK) but I dread spending the money on it. Hoping GW2 lives up to the hype so I can enjoy an amazing MMO without all the money.

@DarthPazuzu6 basically it offers a new quest system which nobody is exactly sure about, it may be better or worse. If you need some more hope for MMOs though, check out Tera Online, it has a true action battle system, which I think will help it contest withc GW 2's new quest system, if it turns out well. Personally, I think I'm just going to end up trying out both, it is hard to decide off of what I can see on youtube :P

Every time I look at a video like this I scroll down and read the comments. It is the same for every single one ...... people complaining, this is gonna be crap because I play so and so and so and so is better blah blah blah, well, I do play WoW and I like it, I also really like the look of Guild Wars 2 and Tera, even SWTOR looks cool (I'm just not a huge syfy fan). I think ALL these games are good, the only problem I have is - so many games not enough time to play them all :oD
@MsPixiePickle this game looks ok in some ways but the underwater play is pathetic looking/feeling..... the underwater fighting, especially shark fight at 14:40 in this video is probably the worst fighting i've ever seen in an mmo type game. It's pathetic considering the production time/cost... plus "everyone in this world breaths underwater". gw2 looks good, outside water. If i could avoid the damn water i'd play it but i'm sure they'll make you enter it and be the creature from the mmo lagoon
@kbrebel04 Trust me when i say this isnt crap. It is indeed a complete different type of leveling. Here they started at a high lvl so it takes alot of the personal story fun out of the game. Once you get into your characters story it will be a BLAST! Give it another thought man! :)
@IdieinBh guild wars 2 recognizes the fact that wow set a standard that games like SWTOR have been mimicking like monkeys for years, and breaks away from that tradition entirely. there are NO npcs with golden question marks above their heads, there is no tank, healer, dps, every class is self-reliant, and combat is actually real-time, there are no auto-attacks, you press what to do just like an ACTUAL action game, and you can dodge people like any other game, is even a dodge button.
@Mordancy11 Damn straight. WoW just simplified things. Back in the day, you had classes that were just designed for buffing/debuffing, and others just for pulling. You don't see that now.

I am really not an MMO guy. I tried SWTOR and WoW, but I ended up not liking either very much.
I like how GW2 LOOKS, but could somebody explain to me what differentiates this game from other MMOs?

@IdieinBh guild wars 2 recognizes the fact that wow set a standard that games like SWTOR have been mimicking like monkeys for years, and breaks away from that tradition entirely. there are NO npcs with golden question marks above their heads, there is no tank, healer, dps, every class is self-reliant, and combat is actually real-time, there are no auto-attacks, you press what to do just like an ACTUAL action game, and you can dodge people like any other game, is even a dodge button.

@leafblight27 Having tanks, healers, dd's, and nukers was in MMO's WAY before WoW. WoW didn't "set" this "standard" by any means.

@Mordancy11 Damn straight. WoW just simplified things. Back in the day, you had classes that were just designed for buffing/debuffing, and others just for pulling. You don't see that now.
