Mi Humilde Opinion, Tannto Dessay como Damrau son fenomenales, cada una le da su estilo al personaje, He visto los tres Sulpices, y para mi Corbelli lo hace excelente, sin menosprecias a Alvarez y al otro
I saw this production, and I'd give a year of my life to see it again. Ms. Damrau and Mr. Florez each have phenomenal voices. They have such chemistry together. The sets, the costumes, her silly pigtail--all perfect. All of the singers demonstrated a real gift for physical comedy. It was one of the best productions of any operas I've ever seen--loved, loved, LOVED it. If this were on DVD, I would buy a dozen copies.
I love her and Natalie equally but I think that Diana in these costumes has a slight and very unfortunate resemblance to the Wendy's girl. I love her though.
I was there on last night at the first row. I remember the same scene in which the piano bench was almost failed. I thought it might have been the part of the scene as she recovered so good. I see all of the productions in SFO, rarely the audience stands up for the curtain call.
Really superb last night. Close call when DD jumped up on to the wobbly piano bench in Act 2, though-- almost went off platform. She quickly caught her balance and looked at the audience as if to say "Yikes!" all the while maintaining flawless character and spot on performance. See this if you can!
Yes, I was there too and there was a kind of collective gasp in the audience. No wobbling bench in today's performance. She and JDF are both incredible, particularly in their more melancholy arias (which aren't shown in this video).
I was fortunate enough to see the opening night last Tuesday, and D Orchestra Premium seats to see them close up! It's very rare to have two of the most reknown opera stars perform together in my home town!
Woah! that is amazing! i really wish i could see this! i agree though that it is such a shame she has to do the same production as Dessay...although she doesnt seem to mind! she looks like she's having a great time...and so she should... SHE IS AMAZING!
It's a pity that they didn't made a new production for Diana - this way she will always be compared to Natalie Dessay. Although I have to say that Diana is vocally faaaaaar more secure than Natalie in this, although I 'm a also big fan of Natalie!

I agree with you... Dessay had 3 TV broadcasts of her performances: NY, London and Vienna. Damrau should have had the DVD!
