for the previous questions why would you say dave wrote the solo for ride the lightning? dave was long gong way before they started making ride the lightning and it was when they had newsteed as a base. dave only wrote songs for kill em all. he had credit for some of the songs on kill em all but not all of them.

@jduzie11 he wrote the demo for Ride the Lightning, but it was quite different and unpolished, it was a demo after all :L and then Kirk fixed it into the masterpiece we know today ;)

@metalguitarist11 I know he didn't write this solo, now. Should've known that before, this solo IS a typical Hammett solo. And Tornado of Souls is easily the best Marty solo, hands down. But best Megadeth solo? I don't know... ToS is my favorite heavy metal solo, but the most suitable solo for Megadeth would go to either Dave's My Last Words solo, or Holy Wars. Plus Holy Wars is special in the sense that Dave didn't even pre-record it before putting it on the album. 1 take!!

@metalguitarist11 Actually, all of the Holy Wars solo IS in key. Dave's shredding just gets a little sloppy in some parts. He's an amazing guitarist, but it's fair to say that he's not the cleanest in the world. My Last Words is just something special. Feels like Dave put a LOT of thought into that solo, and really, it deserves far more praise than it gets. It's the type of solo that should be randomly played somewhere and have several people point n go "Hey!! My Last Words"!

The only part of this song that Dave wrote is the main riff. The solo is Kirk's. Writing credit is usually not given if your only input is a guitar solo, which is why Kirk isn't credited for the song. But the solo was made by him, not Dave. Just like Marty came up with his own solos on Rust In Peace, but has no writing credits on that album. Dave couldnt play this solo anyways!
