gale is not a bad character, but i catched me yelling inside my head to jessie "pull the trigger!" while whatching this scene for the first time. i've never done this before in any other movie or show no matter how bad the dying villain was. just one of the proofs that Breaking Bad is an AWESOME SHOW!!!!!
That'd be funny as shit if the second before Jessie shoots him, that instead he puts his gun down and they both start singing that song Gale was singing when he was watering his plants
The way the camera pans at the end, it makes it look like Jesse pointed the gun PAST Gail, and at somebody else. When I first saw this, I thought there was a twist and that he had shot somebody else in the apartment. Anybody else think that?
@DeadOmega Mike (Gus' hitman) was trying to call him so that he could defend himself against Jesse. They were going to kill Walt, and use Gale as his replacement. Jesse killed him so that Walt could live.
@bob2002ish Why? This show is awesome and has a ton of plot details worth discussing. But yeah, I remember why everything went down, just wasn't sure who was trying to call Gale. Now that I remember, Walt wanted Jesse to do this, so there's no reason why he'd warn Gale..
He already participated in a double murder(even tho was accidental) and shoot a guy (self defense) a guy but yes, this was his first personal face to face cold blood kill.
@goldenOO i dont really count that first double murder a kill he didnt really do anything..just melt that guys body lol...what self defense ? i dont remember before this
This show is addicting. I watched seasons 1-3 on instant netflix back to back in a span of 5 days, I couldn't stop watching it, every episode ends with you wanting to know more and for some reason they don't have season 4 up on netflix yet, anyway I instantly jumped up and drove to best buy literally right after this scene like a crack head rumbling through the isle trying to find season 4 on DVD only to find out its not in stores yet! I cant wait to get my fix...
The two most intense final episodes of any season of any show I've ever seen, both endings kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time, almost fainted it was too much haha!
This scene made me feel 10 emotions in the span of a few seconds. First he pointed the gun at Gale and that heart-breaking expression on his face made it clear that he will shoot him, no last-minute brilliant cop-out, but then he turns the gun towards the viewers!!! WHAT THE FUCK.
On 2nd viewing I thought it was symbolic. He was assassinating us for breaking bad along with Mister White.
In this case, yes... yes, you are. Because Gale was an all-around good person who properly acknowledged and vouched for Walt's talent in chemistry. Jesse understood this to some extent, which is why he spent so much of season 4 suffering for it.
Kinda interesting how that is. Walt should be feeling more badly about his death; they did have a nice conversation together and had more similarities than Jesse did. I don't even think Jesse ever properly spoke to the guy.
i very often while watching breaking bad hated walter white. sometimes, because he was just nerly always angry at jesse, and sometimes because hes an egoist. like in this case. the moral question would not exist if there were a active position of gale in this conflict. but he is just as innocent one can be, and a great personality too, as you discover in season 4...
You know how amazing this show is when you can both feel like a terrible person IRL for Gale's death and still completely sympathize and feel sorry for Jesse.
gale is no criminal, he is just a chemist witht he pure love of chemistry. i believe that drugs are a beautifull its the people, the money and the power struggles that ruines everything for everybody
It's sad, but it was either Gale or Walt and Jesse. Even the DEA was not an option because they would have come after his family. Gale did not deserve it but neither did Walt and Jesse. Now, neither one deserved to live more, however, I would want to continue to be the living one, so..
@ChuckPalomo Well I could argue that it is morally bad to produce drugs too, if you think of the misery and crime they bring then yes I think that Meths are bad. Junkies can do some pretty bad things for a fix. Just look at the deaths and mayhem in the story of Breaking Bad as an example.
So yes Gale wasnt innocent at all, not in the eyes of the law and not morally either. He also got involved in a deadly bussiness through choice, he wasnt a bystander.
Some people consume drugs, I do believe in freedom, the freedom to fuck up my body if I feel like doing it, as long as I don't damage the other, you could counter that saying that your family and loved ones are damaged in the process, or that drugs iduce you to commite crimes. But that's the individual's fault, not drugs, the guy chose to consume it, his responsabilitie. It's exactly the same with booze, and as long as I know booze is legal.
@ChuckPalomo Well you may have something of a point but given that there is a very large number of people who do not know how to use them responsibly than deliberately supplying those people with drugs as Gale was doing is in my opnion morally wrong. I guess we will have to agree to to differ here, but I understand what you are saying.
Why does anyone even doubt he didnt kill gale?? Its obvious he did 1 he had to do it for walt, he friend/partner. 2 the view in which it switches to gales view facing the gun, then doing a sopranos like ending of just going black. what would happen when gale gets shot.....
@dreadly101 No one doubts it now, lol. I did for a bit at first until I read Vince Gilligan say that people were taking the camera moving totally wrong. As you stated, just switching to Gale's view, letting us see the last thing he saw.
@vafadude Walter knew that Gus only wanted his recipe, not him. Gus was planning on using Gale to replace Walt and Walter was aware of that. To counteract Gus, Walter had Jesse kill Gale before Gus could kill Walter.
@vafadude simple. The pollo boss wanted Walter dead so He needed Gale to know and run the cooking. However, the only option Walter had so save his own life was to have gale killed so the Only chemistry person would be him and then Walt would have also a leverage.
The gangster-jew murders another mexican or two on . . breaking bad !
when you break the law you need a jewish lawyer, when you have personal problems, you need a jewish therapist. when you get sick, you need a jewish doctor, when you get divorced, you need a jewish lawyer. you can trust these kosher individuals 100% and always tell them EVERYTHING. White police, teachers, scientists, nurses etc. are immoral and untrustworthy.
Maybe I'm dense but can anyone explain what that first scene of season 3 was about? (with the twins and other villagers crawling to that skeleton woman and pinning a picture of walt on the 'shrine') Usually these types of scenes link to the end of the season, like the plane crash scenes of season 2. Did I miss something?
Essentially he was only at the scene itself for 3-8 Seconds after the shot was discharged, and then exiting the building and sat in his car. Nobody noticed him in his car, or thought it was out of the ordinary, except for Victor. Because he know's whats going on obviously. Or did.
Yeah, i went back after last episode's discussion between Walt and Jesse as well. Jesse cant even Tell Walt ANYTHING about the shooting, being that it would probably make his head implode.
my question is how did the bullet pierce the tea kettle, as shown in season 4 episode 1, when he clearly shot his cheek? if gale was standing fully upright, it couldnt have pierced the kettle unless he shot it at a downward motion?
And also that was not an M9, i stand corrected. It's a Barretta " Cheetah " , Which can be both .22, and or .25. I think they may make it in a 9mm as well. But yeah, Having to go through Gale's face would mean it had to penetrate multiple layers of bone, cross scare tissue, Muscles, Ect.
It's scientifically possible with the trajectory for it to happen. The round is probably near flat or squished, to the size of your pinky nail, in kettle.
I think Walt will get Mike on his side, Mike's reaction to Walts suggestion of killing Gus was spot on, if Mike had said "let me see what I can do", then Walt would have been dead. Mike did point the gun at Gus when he killed Victor so I think Walt is on to something.
Poor Gale, the sheer and obvious innocence of his character, and the look in Jesse's eyes as he's about to kill a guy who doesn't deserve it. Can't help but feel for both these guys. Season 3 knew how to end with us demanding more, in a good way.
Yeah, you can tell that from the end of Sundays Episode " Thirty Eight Snub ", When he Turned his Sound System all the way up and layed against a blaring speaker just to try and get the image of Gale out of his head. Jesse is definitely dropping off the deep end mentally "
@georgekostaras Uh... I do. He got Jane back and drugs and that is what killed her. He's supplying people with crystal meth - a drug that ruins lives. As much as he tries to justify and downplay this, when he says "I'm the bad guy", he's accepting that there's no two ways about it but refuses to give it up because, to quote him, it's the only thing that he's good at. This is simply survival of the fittest - I think out of all of Jesse's actions, this is the most justifiable. It was Gale or him.
@georgekostaras if i could thumbs this up a thousand times i would. that basically went right through my head throughout the entire scene, and i was like "there's no fucking way he's gonna do it, they have a plan," but low and behold, dead guy.
gale is not a bad character, but i catched me yelling inside my head to jessie "pull the trigger!" while whatching this scene for the first time. i've never done this before in any other movie or show no matter how bad the dying villain was. just one of the proofs that Breaking Bad is an AWESOME SHOW!!!!!

@blizzy00 A .22 at close range sometimes doesn't have the speed to exit the skull so it will ricochet internally doing ridiculous amounts of damage.

I think Walt will get Mike on his side, Mike's reaction to Walts suggestion of killing Gus was spot on, if Mike had said "let me see what I can do", then Walt would have been dead. Mike did point the gun at Gus when he killed Victor so I think Walt is on to something.

I wonder what's going to happen because there's that book that Gus gave him on the table. I wonder if anyone is going to link that to Gus.

Poor Gale, the sheer and obvious innocence of his character, and the look in Jesse's eyes as he's about to kill a guy who doesn't deserve it. Can't help but feel for both these guys. Season 3 knew how to end with us demanding more, in a good way.

Jesse said he was the bad guy, I don't think he truly knew what that meant until now.

@georgekostaras
