  • Comment removed

  • I figured it out... I have to import the PSD Button through the Library Tab on Right. To make my Movie Menu Animated I have to select the Menu and Link Audio and Video Under the Motion Tab of the Menu to the Source Video...Weird that Adobe can't be consistent with any of there software as far as Keyboard Shortcuts and methods and techniques.

please rest in the knowledge that you've helped me graduate from college with this tutorial.. hahaha!

  • Thanks man! This helped alot :D

  • I have a question. Im a beginner in Encore and I have CS4. whenever I go, "menu-new menu" it opens some stupid premade menu. How can I get it to open just a blank menu?

  • Hey! I had the same problem yesterday. What I did was go to the lower right corner. Clicked the "Library" tab, and clicked "Toggle Menu" (one of the small buttons.) Then find a blank one. Hope this helps:)

  • thanks!

  • Thanks for the help.. Why do you not burn directly to the dvd though?

  • i dont personally burn directly to DVD because im usually making more than on disc and encore can be buggy. So i take it out of the burning equation.

  • Your Video really helped me on the basics, To do Animated Menus, do i either create them in Premiere pro Cs3, or After effects CS3? or both? and how do i add Chapters? Im guess its the same way as adding a menu, but any info you give me would help a lot. Thank you

  • Helpful instruction thanks! I'm currently producing a lengthy wedding/reception video. Each time I make some changes requested by the newlyweds and re-render, the file size increases greatly, even though there's no change the video length. Right now, it's up to 10 GB, meaning I'm having trouble finding a DVD with enough capacity. Any tips on reducing the file size without deleting scenes or video quality?

  • Nice/easy tutorial

  • what kind of bird do you have?

  • To burn DVDs buy a Mac!!.1 insert Blank dvd.2.Select file. 3. Burn disc (11 minutes).

In Windows 1. Export from Premiere (mpeg-2) good luck with aspect ratio, frames per sec, ect.

2.Import in Encore, export to Photoshop, import back.

3.Export to Nero Vissual Essentials. Hope no degrading ocoured and audio sync, as well as aspect ratio havent changed.

  • to burn a boring DVD.

    1. Buy a new computer with a whole new OS that you have to learn from the ground up

    2. presto boring, no menu'd, DVD in 11 minutes

  • Or, just learn software that works on both platforms. Win,

  • oh...you mean like adobe encore??....fckin moron

  • "I'm gonna kill that bird..." Lol, I'm dying laughing! Thanks, though, I liked the tutorial

  • What do you do if you want to get the highlighted button to have a picture next to it instead of a just different color?

I know Encore can do it, it's in some of the demo files, but how do I do it? Everytime I try it just goes a flat color and all of them look highlighted.

  • I like your Adobe Encore 2.0 DVD tutorial. DO you have a complete from start to finish tutorial for sell? Also I use CS3, do you have trainning for it? You can reach me at 704-853-2001 Charles

  • Great Work, I created my DVD following your video step by step. Many thanks....

but the frame rate of the DVD i Created was not as good as the Avi files i downloaded, also the sound of some of the videos on the DVD were out of sync by fraction of a second.

    anything i am doing wrong?

  • What happened to the bird? Still Alive?! ^-^

  • Can somebody help me?

When I'm try to import some video is say that video must be resolution of 720x576 or 704x576.Please help me

  • usually how long does it take to make a dvd video using adobe encore? I remember using nero vision to make a dvd playable video and it took well over 12 hours? why so long?

  • Many programs that you will run into that has to create a final video product will usually take a few hours or more (depending on your system of course). This is because the program needs to render the video(s) into a single file. If you have a huge project, it will take a while. No video editing program is always as fast as saving a word document, there's just a lot of frames for your computer to process.

  • Oh, I see.

  • that long WOW doesnt take me that long at all.

  • How long does it usually take you, on average?

  • Actually I kinda got confused on exactly what you were talking about but compiling/encoding/transcoding/rendering on my system is pretty fast.

  • Foxhound??R u the Jordan collector on ebay?

  • Great tutorial... I am new to this and your video was very helpful... i am currently working on a project and I have 10 short clips which I want to index via a menu... I have used your tutorial to set it up but I am not sure if I have to set an end action to the end of each clip... can you help me?

  • goto file/check [project, it will tell you which timelines do not have end actions

  • ok, so you are saying then that each clip should have its own timeline so that i can set an end action to each... i have a total of 10 clips for a 2 hr video... kind of like chapters in a book... i want the viewer to be able to select each chapter individually or view all if they so desire...

  • I am Trying to make a dvd of season 2 of the Sarah Connor Chronicles I downloaded all epiosdes up to this point but when I go to Import a episode to encore it says the file is currupted or it does not support it. is it because the file is in Xvid and avi format what format do I need to change it for it to work.

  • mpeg2...works everytime

  • Woo This Helps A Lot, However I Can't Get Anything From After Effects Into Encore, Ever Time I Try To An Error Message Pops Up

"The Software That's Used To Decode The Media Is Not Available On This System. Installing The Correct Decoders For The Files You Are Working With May Help To Correct The Problem"

What Does This Meen, And What Do I Do.

    Thnks For The Help

  • Nevermind... i got an answer researching through adobe forums... if someone else is experiencing the same problem, try this:

    1. Close all programs.

    2. Run Regedit.

    3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Adobe -> Common.

    4. Delete "Media Cache".

    5. Restart computer.

    It worked for me!

  • Oh, and I thought it would be something related to the speed of my computer... but I let the PC on for hours and hours and the status bar from the very first video goes on and on yet.

  • Great tutorial. However, I'm experiencing some problems... I programmed everything and when I test the project, everything seems fine, all the videos plays normally and the menu is OK. But my problem begins exactly where your tutorial ends... when the trans coding process begins, it seems to run OK, but when the status bar from the first video is full, this very same bar goes back and forth forever! And the trans coding process never ends! I tried Encore 2, CS3 and nothing works! Can u help me?

  • I am using adobe Premiere pro to render my project then exporting it to Encore..Then i put in the Menu that i made in photoshop then try to build the dvd and it errors out on me...the error is internal software error..it seems it errors out on the movie/slideshow..

  • I am trying to build a dvd but every time i do i am getting an error message saying internal software error...how do i fix this problem...I am using AVI file from premiere pro...please help...thanks

  • Encore does not use AVI format...except when importing from premier...I don't know the specific format of AVI that premier uses....but if you rendered it with any other software encore wont accept it

  • Hey, can you tell me how to do an image gallery and how to do a scene selection?

  • check out my reprised -questions answered video

  • Hey, on your video, how did you do the zoom in thing on that where you would have the full screen and then when you wanted to show something specific you would zoom in?

  • its done in your video editing software post production....i used sony vegas

  • this has been a HUGE help. thanks alot man. btw, Im using encore CS3... Im sure everything's basically the same, so I have a question:

How do I make submenus? I've got a main menu finally, but I want to make a scene selection, and a "special features" menu. I so far have only been able to make just the main one.

  • speak to spanish please o.k.

  • thanks to Spanish please excerpt yetti

  • great tutorial.

  • Dude that is cool I want to do this for Sarah Connor Chronicles it will look cool to have a fancy menu made as cool as the one you showed me in this video. I am downloading adobe encore now hope I have no trouble trying to make my dvd. I downloaded many programs they did not let me make a motion menu for my dvd.

  • hahahhaaha so are you

  • Does anyone know of any video converters that will convert avi files into a format that dvd encore will transcode and what is it called ive tried, premier, windows movie maker,TMPGenc, avs converter and even flash with no joy ive tried mpeg 1 ,mpeg 2 ,mpeg 4 avi and dv, avi. If anyone can help please message me in here laffin.

  • i dont know alot of converters but i also do know that encore is very fickle about it's formats. Premier is the best but I use Sony Vegas' MainConcept MPeG2 format and it works great

  • lol sound m8 Ive just bought that sony vegas Ill have ago of that, laffin cheers m8y.

  • hello all that suff you said works its just when I build mine it gets toa wmv file and the loading bar loads to the end but then goes back a little bit and then forward and does that over and over for hours, Ive tried mpeg 2 and mpeg 4 and it does the same thing.

  • thanks mate, proper sorted me out

  • Mate, you are a legend! :)

  • Awesome tutorial. I just wish it was in 2, or even 3, parts so you could explain some of it further,

  • If I want to have animated buttons and or a background.. Will Encore support that?

And can you pm me a summed up how to ?

    Awesome video btw!!

  • Thanks for this video, you'ra an expert, I think.

But I have a question: Right now i'm working on a music dvd and i want to put 5.1 surround sound to my video's and burn them on a dvd. I have the surround sound of the video's sepperated in 5 different lines, but i don't know how to put them under the footage of the artsist to create a surround sound on my dvd.

Hope you can help me. I'm working, just like you with DVD Encore 2.0.

    Sorry about my poor English.

    With regards

    Bertus64

  • what si better, encore dvd or dvd architect? thks

  • Thanks for this tutorial - I'm familiar with a bunch of other adobe programs, but after watching this, I was able to open Encore for the first time and comfortably setup a dvd with an opener and a 4 button menu leading to 3 timelines and another menu branch.

I was surprised how easy it was

  • every time i try to import a video it says it must have a resolution of 720x576. how do i change that?

  • CS3 encore is pissing me off... It crashes every time I do a check! God damn it... I hate CS3 Encore.... I have to fix that.. because I can't save my current project..

    Thanks though, nice video...

Do you know how to keep music continuously streaming, even in a transition from one menu to the next?

  • unfortunatley, i havent figured out the stream throught the transitions....unfortunatly CS3 is a dog on my computer too dual core intel and 4 gigs of memory and its just a dog....personally i still use CS2 its just more dependable.

  • well i have cs3 with a dual core processor and 2 gigs and encore runs pretty fast i have no problems with it. and the output quality is very good

  • well i have cs3 with a dual core processor and 2 gigs and encore runs pretty fast i have no problems with it. and the output quality is very good

  • Thanks for that!

  • good.....thanks...for the tutorial...i learn a lot

  • Encore DVD is a great professional DVD menu authoring package. The one downfall with it is it's pretty fussy on the types of files it will accept and takes an age to transcode compared to something like VSO's ConverxttoDVD which is a shame.

  • Hi,

How long does the transcode take when you build dvd? Mine took 30 mins and I cancel. It stays on importing video file. Can you tell me your conversion settings for your video file, see if it will work then.

    Thanks

  • It took me approximately 20 minutes for an avi files which I had converted to DVD using convertxtodvd...so i guess its normal (orifinal file size was 700 MB)

  • Thank you for the great simple guide, this helped me actually get an idea of what encore is all about...now it makes sense

    great tutorial

  • thanks heaps foxhound,

was stuck with encore and was about to throw in the towel when i came upon your guide, while its rough as guts it definately got the job done

    cheers

  • i love encore, best thing is you can import psd files, animated menus in after effects. it has it all, but just need patients when transcoding.

  • wicked crash course.

  • Thanks dude

  • lol "im gunna kill that bird" good tutorial

  • when i used nero i knew everything but makiing the DVD was fun but the features sucked lot...but now i have adobe encore....i did'nt how to make a DVD ...but now thx....

  • U have the best tutorial!!! really really good man

  • thanx man I just got this program and I didnt know what to do with it, Im gonna use it to make a magazine DVD thanx and keep the tutorials coming peace-

  • Nice! Next time tell the world how to put subtitles, chapters and easter eggs! Encore rules!!

  • hmmmm, it does say "basic" correct?...and I am only allowed 10 minutes right?..and I can make other tutorials right?.....

  • harsh, but nice tutorial.... i was starting to panic cause i bought it as part of production premium CS3 but i had no idea what to do with it.

  • Sorry bout my harshness, i bought it in the CS3 prod. premium too, but this tutorial was done on CS2

  • yeah, i could tell by the start up thing... still helps workflow's generally the same right.

  • dude the CS3 pkg is badass!! glad premiere lost dvd ability...kinda...was easy to dump out to single play basic dvd but sprucin em up in encore is top notch. enjoy that CS3...I am still saving for full version keys. Much success
