I am trying to find out how to automatically put a DVD chapter marker like every 1 to 2 minutes and i cant find it anywhere could you help thanks in advance.
Completely fansincated by adobe products. I'm trying to decide if I really want to buy one of thier suites. I like making and shooting videos. It's kind of a hobby. DSLR photograph is something I'm just getting into as well (HDR photos in particular) Great tutorial by the way.
Can anyone help please? In my project the main menu, selected scenes or bonuses menus, all the links are somehow linked to the same source.
For example, in the Bonuses menu I have 3 buttons - Photos, Musical Clip and Honeymoon Video. When I link either of them to their respective source (chapter, video or timeline), others are somehow automatically linked to that same source. I am not being able to individually link them to their own sources. What am I doing wrong?
What if you want something more than just a big ugly button for a menu screen HAHA! I made a Timeline for a Menu, and I have a PSD Menu and I have 1 chapter Timeline... I need to over lap the Button Menu over the Timeline Menu.
I figured it out... I have to import the PSD Button through the Library Tab on Right. To make my Movie Menu Animated I have to select the Menu and Link Audio and Video Under the Motion Tab of the Menu to the Source Video...Weird that Adobe can't be consistent with any of there software as far as Keyboard Shortcuts and methods and techniques.
I have a question. Im a beginner in Encore and I have CS4. whenever I go, "menu-new menu" it opens some stupid premade menu. How can I get it to open just a blank menu?
Hey! I had the same problem yesterday. What I did was go to the lower right corner. Clicked the "Library" tab, and clicked "Toggle Menu" (one of the small buttons.) Then find a blank one. Hope this helps:)
Your Video really helped me on the basics, To do Animated Menus, do i either create them in Premiere pro Cs3, or After effects CS3? or both? and how do i add Chapters? Im guess its the same way as adding a menu, but any info you give me would help a lot. Thank you
Problem transcoding a simple 12 second avi file at 29.97 fps . It appears to transcode but runs endlessly when it goes to importing the file. Any help appreciated
Helpful instruction thanks! I'm currently producing a lengthy wedding/reception video. Each time I make some changes requested by the newlyweds and re-render, the file size increases greatly, even though there's no change the video length. Right now, it's up to 10 GB, meaning I'm having trouble finding a DVD with enough capacity. Any tips on reducing the file size without deleting scenes or video quality?
What do you do if you want to get the highlighted button to have a picture next to it instead of a just different color?
I know Encore can do it, it's in some of the demo files, but how do I do it? Everytime I try it just goes a flat color and all of them look highlighted.

Thank you so much for taking the time to create this Tutorial :-> I have tried to work our encore before but gave up, but thanks to yourself I have now created my 1st DVD with interactive menu. Your the man :)
Great Work, I created my DVD following your video step by step. Many thanks....
but the frame rate of the DVD i Created was not as good as the Avi files i downloaded, also the sound of some of the videos on the DVD were out of sync by fraction of a second.
usually how long does it take to make a dvd video using adobe encore? I remember using nero vision to make a dvd playable video and it took well over 12 hours? why so long?
Many programs that you will run into that has to create a final video product will usually take a few hours or more (depending on your system of course). This is because the program needs to render the video(s) into a single file. If you have a huge project, it will take a while. No video editing program is always as fast as saving a word document, there's just a lot of frames for your computer to process.
Great tutorial... I am new to this and your video was very helpful... i am currently working on a project and I have 10 short clips which I want to index via a menu... I have used your tutorial to set it up but I am not sure if I have to set an end action to the end of each clip... can you help me?
ok, so you are saying then that each clip should have its own timeline so that i can set an end action to each... i have a total of 10 clips for a 2 hr video... kind of like chapters in a book... i want the viewer to be able to select each chapter individually or view all if they so desire...
I am Trying to make a dvd of season 2 of the Sarah Connor Chronicles I downloaded all epiosdes up to this point but when I go to Import a episode to encore it says the file is currupted or it does not support it. is it because the file is in Xvid and avi format what format do I need to change it for it to work.
Woo This Helps A Lot, However I Can't Get Anything From After Effects Into Encore, Ever Time I Try To An Error Message Pops Up
"The Software That's Used To Decode The Media Is Not Available On This System. Installing The Correct Decoders For The Files You Are Working With May Help To Correct The Problem"
Oh, and I thought it would be something related to the speed of my computer... but I let the PC on for hours and hours and the status bar from the very first video goes on and on yet.
Great tutorial. However, I'm experiencing some problems... I programmed everything and when I test the project, everything seems fine, all the videos plays normally and the menu is OK. But my problem begins exactly where your tutorial ends... when the trans coding process begins, it seems to run OK, but when the status bar from the first video is full, this very same bar goes back and forth forever! And the trans coding process never ends! I tried Encore 2, CS3 and nothing works! Can u help me?
I am using adobe Premiere pro to render my project then exporting it to Encore..Then i put in the Menu that i made in photoshop then try to build the dvd and it errors out on me...the error is internal software error..it seems it errors out on the movie/slideshow..
I am trying to build a dvd but every time i do i am getting an error message saying internal software error...how do i fix this problem...I am using AVI file from premiere pro...please help...thanks
Encore does not use AVI format...except when importing from premier...I don't know the specific format of AVI that premier uses....but if you rendered it with any other software encore wont accept it
Hey, on your video, how did you do the zoom in thing on that where you would have the full screen and then when you wanted to show something specific you would zoom in?
this has been a HUGE help. thanks alot man. btw, Im using encore CS3... Im sure everything's basically the same, so I have a question:
How do I make submenus? I've got a main menu finally, but I want to make a scene selection, and a "special features" menu. I so far have only been able to make just the main one.
Dude that is cool I want to do this for Sarah Connor Chronicles it will look cool to have a fancy menu made as cool as the one you showed me in this video. I am downloading adobe encore now hope I have no trouble trying to make my dvd. I downloaded many programs they did not let me make a motion menu for my dvd.
Does anyone know of any video converters that will convert avi files into a format that dvd encore will transcode and what is it called ive tried, premier, windows movie maker,TMPGenc, avs converter and even flash with no joy ive tried mpeg 1 ,mpeg 2 ,mpeg 4 avi and dv, avi. If anyone can help please message me in here laffin.

Do you know how to keep music continuously streaming, even in a transition from one menu to the next?
unfortunatley, i havent figured out the stream throught the transitions....unfortunatly CS3 is a dog on my computer too dual core intel and 4 gigs of memory and its just a dog....personally i still use CS2 its just more dependable.
Encore DVD is a great professional DVD menu authoring package. The one downfall with it is it's pretty fussy on the types of files it will accept and takes an age to transcode compared to something like VSO's ConverxttoDVD which is a shame.

It took me approximately 20 minutes for an avi files which I had converted to DVD using convertxtodvd...so i guess its normal (orifinal file size was 700 MB)
when i used nero i knew everything but makiing the DVD was fun but the features sucked lot...but now i have adobe encore....i did'nt how to make a DVD ...but now thx....
thanx man I just got this program and I didnt know what to do with it, Im gonna use it to make a magazine DVD thanx and keep the tutorials coming peace-
dude the CS3 pkg is badass!! glad premiere lost dvd ability...kinda...was easy to dump out to single play basic dvd but sprucin em up in encore is top notch. enjoy that CS3...I am still saving for full version keys. Much success
CAN i make a video and upload it to the youtube or facebook?
How can i change the suitable format?

i love encore, best thing is you can import psd files, animated menus in after effects. it has it all, but just need patients when transcoding.

dude the CS3 pkg is badass!! glad premiere lost dvd ability...kinda...was easy to dump out to single play basic dvd but sprucin em up in encore is top notch. enjoy that CS3...I am still saving for full version keys. Much success
