Soundtrack/Music Best Match: Sigur Rós – Samskeyti
No official soundtrack is available encapsulating the composition (often mistakenly referred to as “song” by inquirers) played during this scene or the similar piano ostinato heard during other episodes.
Instead, the music’s closest rendition incorporating the piano climaxing at 0:52 is Sigur Rós – Samskeyti, albeit in the form of a slower tempo piano ostinato introduced at 43sec in Rós's version. See HD YouTube video: 84dAsVzVz00.
While incorporating a similar sound worth checking out, O.A.R. - Shattered (a great song in its own right) and Chantal Kreviazuk – Wonderful are unlikely to be directly related to the music heard here.
I really like the music in this scene and throughout the show in sentimental moments when they play it, but I don't think it's a particular song. I think it's Peter Nashel composing this particular piece for the show. It's not going to be anywhere else. It does sound like a slow version of Shattered, but I doubt it is.
is it only me thinking tht this show is evil, portraying just money and nothin else? I mean nt everyone has bling bling. i m sure out of the 93.467 ppl who ve watched nd commnted on this crap only 1/50 if nt less, of em do actually hav some money the rest of u, why dont the rest of u get any offended?
@soulhs88ss No one else is offended because this show doesn't portray having money as all good, the series shows you how much money can mess up your life and cause you problems, take this scene, even with all that money, it didn't protect him from his wife falling for another man. One great quote from the series is "Money doesn't protect you from anything does it?" "No it doesn't" (Not positive that is the exact quote, but you get the idea)
I think the best scene in the series by far is the one where Tripp convinces him to take the job (first episode). "You know us Nicky, you're the guy". you could you pleeasse upload it, pretty please :)
when the briefcase locks popped, i think my heart did too. it just skipped a beat. and you hear the background music and tripp's look on his face it's just so heartbreaking.
i can tbelieve they cancelled the show. please bring it back.
i bought the first season on barnes and nobles and watched the episodes and now i want to sell to anyone who may want. i will sell at any price. contact me thru youtube.
hi, could you tell - what is the final? what is the end of the story? who killed Nick's dad? Nick and Karen (baby)? Jeremy n Nola... In Russia we had this season but without final scene... I'm suffering..
This is one of the very great Tripp scenes... It makes me miss the character as he was last season: devious at times but also warm, sensitive and funny too... What have they done to him???
the instrumental song, (which is also played in most episodes, generally towards the end and is sombre in nature,) soundsvery musch like: Sigur Rós - Samskeyti
I agree, the great scene. I've just seen this episode for the first time today and it moved me so much I needed to see it again... those emotions on Tripp's face...
i've been looking for that, too. i think it's a theme composed for the series, because you variations of it on different episodes. the composer is peter nashel. i love this scene, in large part because of the music.
Saw this last Sunday. One of the most moving scenes. The element of conflict in it (the affair in particular)though not new is presented in a flavorful intriguing manner. It was also an intense moment when Letitia said on one of her conversations with Nick "Because I love him too..." referring to her husband Tripp.
aw i feel so sorry for tripp! he's so cool in this (and is it wrong for me to say he's got a sexy voice?) aw, he doesn't deserve to be treated like that!!
hmmm you obviously havn't watched episode 10 yet...where it's revealed that Tripp is practically pimping out his own daughter to Simon Elder??? I thought he was cool too but now Im starting to wonder...with this show you never know hat twist is around the corner though. LOVE DSM!!!!! :-))

I have not seen Peter Krause in other movies/show so im going to judge based solely on his performance in DSM. His acting frustrates me. He is SUCH A BAD ACTOR. I'll admit Donald Sutherland and Peter Krause played that very well and the music was played soft enough so that the silences between the actors emphasised the tension. I didn't think I'd like this series when it first came out because in Sydney they made these really creepy promo's which just showed Donald Sutherland saying "5 Million" and Peter Krause replying "10". My brother thought Donald Sutherland was a pedophile due to his seedy husky voice. It put me off but luckily I persevered. :)
I just watched the first episode of this show which premiered in Australia tonight. From the comments I have read below and from what I have just seen, it looks like it will be a great series. It's great to see Peter Krause in a new series, as I really liked him in Six Feet Under. Thanks for posting this clip.
Donald Sutherland is an AMAZING actor. I just started watching this show today. I can't find most of the episodes, so I have only seen the first two. This scene broke my heart. Peter should have held the handles, and said the code didn't work. I hate how broken Sutherland is when the code works.
One of the most moving scenes I have ever watched on TV. In general, this is a well-constructed, superbly-cast show; it acounts for roughly 20% of my weekly TV viewing. I am glad there are not many shows this good on TV, as that would compromise my glamorous lifestyle of having a family and a job.
