  • is this swing not very flat?

  • Thanks. Makes perfect sense to me

  • Jeff is referring to plane - and that can mean parallel planes (for those of you who are suggesting that the club comes off plane at the top) - It's still on a parallel plane. Jeff is simply reminding us that you don't get steep. Stay on plane - or at least parallel planes, in accordance to your shaft lie at address.

  • what about natural two planers :D

  • @silowhore Jeff writes about this concept too - go to jeffrittergolf. dot com

  • okay, i've been hitting the ball either on or very near the hosel coming though. I've been told by a supposedly PGA pro that i'm coming too far from the inside, his advise? open my stance and learn to hit the ball on the toe, 15 minutes, $55.00 so i'm asking you what can i do to stop coming from the inside too much?

  • The video never says "same line" nor is it insinuated that they do. It just says same angle which can move up and down. The plane floats up and down from address to the top and back to the ball which of course would make it impossible to be the same line. The video is intended to help golfers see that the swing is not on a "straight line" to the target, but actually moves on a considerable arc. This is instrumental in helping golfers who slice due to a straight line action.

  • the swing plane is not one line. your hands and club do not stay on the same line through the entire swing. This is Hank Haney's way of teaching which ruined Tiger.

  • 26 degree shoulder tilt on the backswing is what you need and turn the shoulders 55 degrees (PGA tour average)

  • @nuckster94 That is not very helpful to anyone at all. People turn a certain amount based on their personal flexibility. Not everyone can swing like the pros.

  • this helped alot thanks !

  • Thanks Jeff, you make great videos.

  • Hiya Jeff, fantastic drill....thanks for sharing!! All the best Ray

  • I agree the plane is the resultant angle created by the arc. But there is no need really to think about the angle at all. Take a look at my videos on You Yube

  • the plane is from the shoulders to the ball. The hands hang naturally at address so they don't get onto the plane until waist high.

  • thanks for all yor help and tips you are the best on utube as golf teacher.

  • Another simple but superb explanation from Jeff, one of the best teachers on the web.

His "playing card" clip (backswing across the line) has been a huge help to me.

  • the clearest for golf instruction that I ever seen!

  • Just a question; does this drill apply to the woods?

  • It is applied to woods, I guess

  • swing plane applies to every golf swing. so yes

  • spiele 20 Jahre Golf, kein Pro hatte eine so gute

    Demonstration ! Gratuliere.

  • hi jeff ive watched ur vids and im very impressed these vids are awesome and its great that u hve gone out of your way to make it clearer to people like me and others superb bud

  • That is a really, really good visual.

  • i've just gone through a swing plane change because i came ever so slightly over top. I'm a college golfer on scholarship so i hit thousands of balls a day and it's hard to break habit. My coach is an ex pga tour player and i showed him this drill and he loved it. for over the top planes concentrate on your right elbow, it should be coming in very close to your body, the moment your elbow comes to far away from your body, your plane is usually off which caused my mis hits...............

  • I am a golf instruction addict, and I haven't seen such a visual aid before. Brilliant. Thank you.

  • just frikin awsome

  • Jeff,

Great explanation and very simple. Some great quotes

  • GREAT SUCCESS!!!! HIGH FIVE, no seriously great explanation of the swing plane. I just tried it, and it makes perfect sense. I can actually feel the mistakes that I was making before. Great vid

  • you're so damn good in terms of teach the way we should feel or do for the entire golf shot. You're good ball striking too.. God bless you..

  • I really like this video and am going to try it today. I'm having terrible trouble pulling my shots to the left. When I'm on the driving range I hit to markers and can hit them perfectly straight. But when I go out to play I will pull them every time. I'm definitly going to check out more of your videos!!

  • that is genius

  • Thanks Jeff, I'm watching all you video's I'm finding them very informative. I'm having trouble finding the right swing plane? Not sure when to cock my wrists? I'm either laid off and slicing, or coming too steep on the ball. I'll work on some of your exersices, thanks for your help...

  • Great lesson. Actually introduced a few new ideas for me to mull over.

  • Hi Jeff,

Very intresting and i really want to carry this out and change my swing to more of a one plane swing! But one problem im 13 and i have a 12.5 driver and the shaft angle is very low and looks like i a swinging a baseball bat. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
