  • They should seriously not try to blame the crossings! I mean, you can see the train in an open field! You can HEAR the horn Blowing!

  • another train that failed to give way?

damn it... im giving way to trains from now on.

  • this is funny!

  • THERE IS NOTHING TO INVESTIGATE! train is always right. i dont care. if you cant see a moving freight train hurling your way then you 1. shouldn't be driving or 2. shouldn't be alive because you are so stupid. there are no excuses. train=right everyone else colliding with it=wrong. its so simple.

  • They need to look for any obvious signs of equipment failure, drug or alcohol use in the cab, mitigating factors in the collision which when the vehicles are removed might be obscured.

  • i hate when they say train vs x y or z

it makes it look like it was deliberate and not an accident

  • its an open field during day time, he had to see that train.

  • So...you guys are arguing about this why? The guy died, it won't change anything to argue, I'm sure that the city knows what to do about it. It's an everyday tragedy, people die, get over it, it's nothing to argue about. I'm sure that proper precautions will be taken. (Arguing is pointless)

  • Darwinism.

  • Advance (RXR) sign and then STOP sign and RXR crossbuck are not enough?

As automobile and truck drivers, is our duty to detect and yield right of way to trains, period.

What is the white sign with red stripes?

Angled so that it reflects train headlights towards drivers?

    Thank you.

  • well it appears to me and this is only my opinion that he was coming from the side shown which is why he under the train on this side. But if you look at the road it doesnt cross the tracks square it has an angle so as he gets to the crossing he is cant see very far if any to his right being on the left side of the vehicle, so hes slowed taken a look seen 1mile of nothing to his left and maybe 100ft of nothing to his right and went for it and the train has come roaring thru from the rightside.

  • all x-ings should have gates

  • OK. So who is going to pay for that?

    You?

Suggest you pull out your checkbook and write this northern idaho community a check for $200,000 for gates.

Personally, I am not in the mood to devote my tax dollars to put a crossing on all gates. heavily travelled yes. But all gates. No way.

The money could be much better put to use elsewhere. See Macleaod's comment below. He doesn't need gates. He drives like a professional.

  • All x-ings should have people crossing them who have a clue. There is a stop sign. My 4 year old knows what that means.

  • yeah and don't forget the flashing red light they all ne flashing red light.

  • I'm a truck driver. Stopping at rail crossings is the best thing. Second is rolling down the windows. You can see for a mile or better, The guy probably committed suicide.

  • have a look at victorian train truck collision sometime

    2007

    same circumstance but way worse

  • Win.

  • Looks like you can see for miles in at least one direction.

  • It always amuses me how it takes hours to do an investigation when the cause was simply someone that didn't bother to stop and look.

  • they also have to blame

    IT ONLY HAS A SIGN

oh so a big fricken train!!

isnt enough to make u want to stop!!!

and these people sue against the train (people) or the city cuz it didnt have propersigns

and they win the cases its redicules!!

(i misspelt it cuz thats how Redicules it is)

good god are people trying to prove they need force to keep them safe and outta control
