The video has a small framerate and can't keep up with his picking since alternate picking is so fast in this song. There were several slight mistakes he made, and that's how you can tell he did it for real. As for the chords, I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you think the chords are off because he's using a capo. He's only using that because his guitar is downtuned, so to avoid having to retune it all the time, he uses a capo. And he picks just like I do, correctly.

Try picking the 6th string down up down down up down and so on until it is comfortable to play. Start out slow until you master the 190 bpm Hetfield speed.

ok thanx m8. i learned to gallop on power chords in The Trooper and Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden. i got a Jackson flying V recently and changed the way i hold the pick but now i cant gallop so im going baack to the old way i held it. thanks for that its really helpful!

I made sure I got speed picking down first before I dared to attempt this song. This particular main riff is constructed from what is known as the gallop. Start out slow and gradually build your speed up until it is comfortable.
