  • You took the words right out of my mouth, and couldn't have put it any better. Thank you for this video, my friend.

  • Jerks being anyone who questions you or shoots loop-holes in your "infallible" logic? I don't know why I can't stop watching your vids. I'm not learning anything. George Carlin's logic outranked yours. You attempt to debunk concepts and thinking, yet there isn't much support in your debunks. All your doing is expressing your opinion and arguing. I'm bored.

  • Nope, jerks are jerks. Plenty of people watch my videos, leave comments, etc. without agreeing with me.

  • haha "FORGED IN LOGIC". frickin' rad.

  • Is it just me, or is this the second time you've ever acted.... not serious on camera?

  • Holy shit!!!! That was my suggestion!!!!!

  • Hmmmm I'm at 2:01 right now. Isn't it strange how people will call you a cult because you choose not to interact with people who are assholes? Ever noticed how both Stefan Molyneux and Ayn Rand have had "cult followings"? I think the reason people accuse them of a "cult" is because they both support individiualism, and not talking to those who are honestly mistreating you. I would agree with Ayn Rand, Stefan Molyneux, and you, there is no obligation to converse with people who are mean.

  • IF you had to make a choice between being an asshole and being wrong, which would you choose?

I would rather engage with an asshole than a mumpsimus.

  • I'm not sure what you're getting at exactly.

Why would I ever have to choose between being wrong and being an asshole?

  • Because sometimes the truth itself sounds like something only an asshole would say. Now answer the damn question, please.

  • I don't think telling someone the truth, when they need to hear it, is being an asshole in the sense that I am talking about.

Sure, I'd "be an asshole" in the sense that you mean if it were necessary. But consistently being a condescending ass when you talk to people is what I mean when I say asshole.

Now why are you being so aggressive?

  • Thanks for the response. I apologize for coming across as what you call "aggressive" but that's kind of what I'm getting at. Communication involves both what in implied and what is inferred. In hindsight, I can see that I was being a little defensive, not aggressive (which doesn't excuse the hostile language).

  • The context is Aaron banning me from his channel because of a disagreement we had regarding male-female relationships. Now of course he has every right to ban me and indeed a may have "merited" such treatment, but in my opinion there was more than a little shoot-the-messenger dynamic going on. Regardless if that was the case, you can imagine a scenario where it WOULD be the case.

  • You and Aaron in in danger of falling into the confirmation bias trap. This is a real temptation that we all have observed with Stefbot already.

Putting up with assholes may be the price you have to pay to avoid such a fate. Just something to think about.

Thanks again for answering my question. I will be the first to admit that I have few diplomatic skills and have what Vox Day calls "social asperger's."

  • Confirmation bias...that's a good point, but I don't blame them for not wanting to engage with these assholes.

  • Agreed 100%.........Haters have no place.

  • wow your more pathetic than the people that you criticize.

  • And now you're blocked. Have a nice life!

  • Its not like he gives a shit about you oh and I unsubscribed

  • People are arse holes because they are negative. They're caught up in circular thinking or create double negatives through misunderstanding how others perceive there actions.

My point is banning these people is pointless. The only way to destroy it is to be positive. We can create a positive attitude. Turn it into a joke. Be polite. You don't act so absolute with the semantics of a sentence.

  • You are right to not throughing periles before swine.

Only a fool argues with an ass.

    Stay free.

    Pease.

  • Well if you change your mind about the cult thing, perhaps we could work something out. I have some ideas about how it might work.

  • We all flaunt sometimes; we're all assholes in one circumstance or another.

Those people will most likely regret what they did later on, so it's probably better to just forgive them in the meantime. If you're a determinist, it would make more sense to do this, seeing as how they can't help it.

  • I think someone would have to have become a non-shitty person in order to forgive them for past behavior. Otherwise, what's the point?

  • That's overlooking the real [mystified] issues they're currently dealing with. If they were perfectly able to be happy with themselves in presence of others, then they would always choose to no matter what. No one willfully wants to spread misery unless they're dealing with their own (by nature's admission).

If we don't know the whole story while we abruptly interject our assessments based on a few of their blunders, then we're only nitpicking and making mistakes ourselves.

  • I don't feel obligated to help them with their issues. That's their problem, not mine. It's not my job to "fix" everyone I encounter.

  • Well, no. You don't have to. Understanding that they have a problem, though, is what's important in letting you know that whatever they do / say isn't personal or directed against you. Only treat something that's been done as deep as the motive behind it. (i.e. if someone calls you an "asshole" or "faggot", just acknowledge that they're only words out of context and that they can do better with themselves by you simply being polite and making a joke out of it)

  • Thanks for the clarification. I am glad we got that straightened out. Now, like I said I think you are repeating Aaron's talking points about "enabling" and "pacificism" but that is better than a false accusation. However, I was the one who tried to get aaron and schizo to work out their differences in a room.

  • Aaron classifies that as "enabling" and because I didn't take his side when he himself acted like an ass and when I told Schizo Aaron's problem with his kick behavior Aaron labels me as trying to be a suck up. I have said many times on stickam that I didn't want you kicked. But as you said it is free association and you are free to make other rooms.

  • Now, I may make a video to clarify the situation and provide the historical context to all of this. Most of these ethics discussions I believe took place on skype according to you and according to them they never happened between yourself and them, just aaron. Either way I can't comment on them because I was not there and it would be pure speculation on my part.

  • I'm forming a cult. Our creed will consist of eating steak and drinking beer every Friday night, then sleeping with super models.

    I'll begin accepting donations immediately.

  • @contrarianbastard Can I join the cult but not eat steak or drink beer or have sex?

  • Julie: What kind of boring life are you after? :P

  • Steak is gross, beer is poison and sex is boring. So, it's reasonable for me to avoid them.

I know you're kidding but .. I felt like explaining anyway.

  • Wait, I thought we were all going to wear matching track suits?

  • I don't think you are an asshole :)

  • i think your attitude is very balanced.

  • yeah, those accuse others of engaging in "philobabble". they're unwilling to come to terms with the fact that anarchism divorced from philosophy is based on whim. it boggles the mind that people would eagerly adopt some "-ism" without taking the bother of rooting it in some foundation. those people are not worth an instant of anyone's time.

  • I accuse others of engaging in philobabble. I am also unwilling to come to terms with the idea that anarchism must be tied to philosophy.

Philosophy is a catch-all word for any science you want to think or talk about without going into it too deep. Or when you don't know what the particular science's name is.

Am I worth no instant of anyone's time?

  • you have an erroneous conception of philosophy and i'd wager that you're not open to consider the opposite, so unless i'm wrong about that, no. you're not worth an instant of my time.

  • I'm always open. Bring it on. What is philosophy?

Be honest, it's hard to define, isn't it? That's what happens when the same term is used for a bazillion different things.

And I'm cool with not being worth your time, but you said "anyone's time" and I think that's pretentious. Even if you mean just like-minded people.

  • the definition i can give you in a comment section is that which deals with the fundamental questions of reality. in other words it's about solidifying the foundations of all other fields of knowledge, scientific, political or otherwise. if you have no interest in having the basic disipline of rooting your beliefs on something foundational it means in practice that you are of the perssuation of spewing shit.

  • Yeah, well that definition sounds exactly like mine, you're just saying it in a different way.

And now you're accusing people who don't engage in this activity of spewing shit, and you have no good reason to do that.

Assume Einstein didn't do philosophy. Does this mean his math and physics were wrong?

  • i'll send you a pm because this is gonna take a while.

  • You're not a cult leader? I think i have joined for all the wrong reasons.
