the realism of this game is awesome, more like in a simulation than in a game... but like most people say here it is very frustrating and difficult to play and also not very thrilling like most ww2 games but that's how war is, cruel and boring ...

@Deebsios this game is on a higher tier of realism, WiC is fun but it is very arcadey. tanks and vehicles can be rendered inoperable form running out of fuel and ammo to having their treads blown off or engines smashed. unlike WiC where they just explode

this game is too small scale. WWII had thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks in a battle, not a dozen

@emperorfrance Maybe your right but the point is that not every russian squad had an tank to his command and maybe if they were lucky they had 2 machine guns and the rest of them had only some guns so compared with scale this game is very realistic

maybe go to your shortcut, right click and choose open file location, then right click on the exe file and in compatibility choose disable desktop composition or try other settings like windows xp compatibility.

But it should run fine in win7, im not sure what u downloaded though

Achtung Panzer Kharkov 1943 is indeed the most realistic I have seen, althiugh the interface is somewhat daunting!

Yes, it's a very hard game, very frustrating and interface isn't the best of its kind, but it's been developed by a team of under 10 people. But in my opinion it represents the feel and level of frustration of real ww2, especially for the red army.. I admire that you appreciated the level of realism

I've played MoW and CoH and couldnt play long enough because it lacks realism. ToW is geared towards realism, it's not about great storyline where you will be jumping and killing everyone rambo style.

You will appreciate this game more if you like Close Combat series.

'One of the most'.. Im not going to say it's not. But a few minutes into playing was enough to dismiss it as another action shootemup style. Look even at the speed of movement of soldiers- it's arcadish.

OK, it's strategy.. and if you compare it in terms of strategy, maybe it's somewhat realistic. But all the elements of gameplay is just to make you play like a hero, which isn't realism. if you want realism, try Front Roads. That's realism, but you'll be bored with it.

@hugostv forget about the missions in mow. try the multiplayer. thats were you find realism and also a good strategy game. of course that you dont fire the tiger canon from 3 km but still, its the best strategy i played so far. i will also look up your sugestions

How many games track every individual bullet, or shell until it impacts something? And when it does, it has a different effect depending on what it hits? I love tank warfare in this game because of how realistic that in itself is.

@Azuroka If you want realism, Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin or Combat Mission Afrika Corps are the best (until Panzer Command Ostfront comes out). If you want arcade fun then Company of heroes.

Yes, you can. You can customize your battle to year, type of tank units, infantry, or just simply infantry, type of battle (defense, assault), you can even fight against axis vs axis, etc. There are tools that you can create you own maps with. It's actually more focused on this rather than online multiplayer, which is what I miss in this game. Other than that, it's a game that's worth its price

thank you, pwnmage, I loved ToW 1, especially the belorussia front addon, but in this version fighting against tigers and panthers seems to be so much harder, you literally have to get up close like in the movie in order to destroy them, it turned out to be a nice ambush. Africa version was nice but I just couldnt get used to the desert feel. Now Im trying Front Roads Kharkov 1943 which is also an ultra realistic sim, but different from ToW- very challenging game

well shit i was hoping that they will bring out heaps more content for this game, it almost does my head in thinking of the possibilities..SS/nkvd units, multiple story buildings, a big urban map perhaps stalingrad but maybe these things will come with time as cpu's get faster because you cant even really have more than say 5-6 tanks and 60 inf..on a map that is already relativley small compared to most other RTS games.. ther is so much potential ! ! ! !

Update 1.3.1 is out. It features new set of tanks:

USSR: T-34-85, IS-2 tank, SU-85 and SU-10, ISU-152

Germany: Pz. VIB “Tiger II” tank, “Brummbar” assault gun, Jagdpanzer 38t “Hetzer”, “Elefant” and “Jagdpanther” . And 4 new missions

Also, 1C developers are in works of ToW2: Korea, that goes beyond ww2.

As far as multiplayer, let's hope there will be more dedicated community support soon.

My question is when i got TOWA2, Everytime one of my men died, the camra would pause and stop and zoom in on the guy who died. Is their a way to stop that? I looked in option but didn't :(

Overall, this game was very solid and I haven't had anything majorly frustrating in this game. There was once a moment when I set up an ambush spot down the hill in one of capture points and for some reason the German tanks would just refuse to move down there. Of course AI can be funny sometimes, just like in any other game, but they will definitely give you plenty of challenge and nail-biting moments. Other than that, the game was very stable.

zeek, this game will run fine on most modern conputers. The problem may be that game slows down due to all calculations, not because of graphics all the time. when battles get larger, ull have to play at slower speed to keep things smooth. even on my relativly fast pc it got slow at times. download a demo and see for urself

Please tell me that in ToW2 - Kursk you can repair your damaged track! I really don't understand why wasn't this function implemented in ToW games because this would make it really look like reality.

No, It is irreparable during gameplay unfortunately. I agree with the fact that it would improve the gameplay a lot. I've had many moments when my perfectly healthy tank had to be abandoned due to irreparable tracks even when the enemy was far away from killing the crew. Maybe it's something that needs to be posted on the developers website, which I will if I get a chance. Otherwise, this is a really amazing sim, leaps ahead of ToW 1 IMO in terms of control.

it has multiplayer function. But it's not affiliated with massive multiplayer providers like steam, therefore i rarely see anyone on multiplayer. Untill maybe someone comes up with an idea of integrating it on something like Steam, it's still pretty hard to find someone on multiplayer. Though I did get a chance to play online once.
