  • Why use buttons instead of drawbars? One...easier to manufacture. Two, presets go instantly to how the drawbars look and you can fine tune right away. With real drawbars you go to a preset, the drawbars aren't in the exact position of how the preset really is...it's not like they mechanically move by themselves to show you the positions.

It all comes down to what you're used to. The buttons aren't as big a deal as you might think once you get to know them. But to each their own.

  • There's no way a high school student like me can afford this awesome thing. I've saved about $600 and I'm not even a third of the way there :P I'll get it someday! ..if i could only get a job..

  • they are really expensive! I got a nord stage compact last year and had to finance it cos its the only way i could afford it. Cost about £ 1500 pounds which is about $2000 dollars! great keybaords but very expensive!! RK good luck with saving!

  • Yeah, but when you think about it, you're getting 4 instruments all in one shot which works out circa £500 apiece. Which isn't so expensive really.

  • good point!

  • I'd like to have one......... but I'm broke :(

  • It sounds great and looks great but why do Nord insist on replacing drawbars with buttons that are difficult to hit whilst playing? It just seems so silly to me that Nord have tried to reinvent the wheel and on the buttons alone, I will be buying a Hammond XK1 purely for the drawbars.

  • IF you're referring to the pitch stick on their synths, it feels much better than any pitch wheel i've played. I do understand your drawbar argument though, though for non-live, the buttons on my nord stage organ(identical) work fine. And it has a small preset memory for live play (2 presets per organ model) that could help your drawbar problem

  • Hi

Sorry, when I said 'reinvent the wheel' I meant why did they use buttons instead of drawbars which has been the standard for many decades. I wasn't actually referring to the wheel itself.

Have I just confuse it further? :-)

    Carl.

  • Oh yeah well i do love the feel of classic drawbars, but i think the Buttons are a pretty good alternative. I feel it makes the instrument more road-rugged, which is probably what Nord also had in mind. ANd the buttons are extra sensitive, which gives a drawbar-esque feel to them
