  • To sum it up, It's wishful thinking.

  • but following my feelings feels so good... ...

  • Apologists drive me insane. So maybe I really, really feel like there's a million dollars buried inside my skull. Does that mean it's there...? Let me grab an ax and check. ...Anyway, at least that example is falsifiable! Whereas there's no way to demonstrate anything about God! The burden of proof rests on those who claim a thing exists.

  • I've posed this exact same point/challenge to all the believers I debate whenever they try and dismiss me by saying, "Well, you can't see the truth because you don't give any consideration to feelings and it all has to be laid out for you logically."

  • SolRosenberg84's casual dismissal of human feelings provides yet further evidence of how atheism devalues humanity. Our feelings, especially our gut instincts, are the most important weapon that we have against evil people. SolRosenberg84's devaluation of feelings ultimately destroys all morality and would thus pave the way for the triumph of evil.

  • @atticana I agree that intuition is often right, in judging other people and everyday-life situations, and that's also supported by various empiric studies. I appreciate your "gut feelings" when you debate antisemitic BNP supporters, and many others - atheists or not - surely would do likewise.

But SolRosenberg84 mainly refers to "gut feelings" concerning questions about the universe, origin of things etc. - and in these "non-intuitive" topics I also prefer science over imagination ;-)

  • @atticana Thanks for letting shimmer through a glimps of what can count as a personal positive, yet still plausible, message. If I'm trying real hard, I think you say that my "kind" (evil honest unbeliever) will triumph after fallacious bases for morality have ultimately crumbled down by the constructs of reason and logic. Imo, you value your feelings improperly, in a way it reminds me of "addiction".

  • Hi Sol. Interesting and valid point. As a Chrstian who has watched alot of atheist videos, and interacted with atheists-I am still a Christian-but I have a touch of agnosticism. Also, the knife cuts both ways. Many athiests seem fo be baseing thier understanding of "god' on thier feelings. IMO they should belive in a benevalent God-who will make everythihng right.--it will make them happier.Maybe there is a God who reveals himself to the individual in a private way.to those who seek Him.

  • Feelings are just a bunch of neurotransmitters that have seperate effects on the conciouss behaviour of animals. Eg Love - MDMA and Oxcytocin a combination of Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon I think.

The point: We are animals, nature governs us at every moment, the human kind is an animal species the same as every animal out there. Problem is the conciousness is so up itself, it, by default causes us to view ourselves as the centre of the world therefore denying the full concept of death.

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!! Sorry for the all caps. But you did so damn good a job! Thank you for taking the time.

  • The reason feeling based claims about God and spirituality continue to be made is because they can't be falsified. That’s the big difference between scientific and religious ideas. Observational claims can be proven wrong. While claims about god and the next world are only backed up by faith, and by the favorite line of the religious, "you'll find out when you die and end up in hell."

  • If we the argument is that we should trust our feelings to be true, then most of us were designed by God to be sexually promiscuous for our entire lives. This is the problem with such an argument. Religious people want to have it both ways, I believe the bible is true because I "know in my heart" that the God of the bible is real, but I know that the feelings in my heart concerning lust are wrong, because the bible says so. So what comes first, your feelings or faith in the Bible? Uh, both?

  • that's why it's called FAITH!!! When it really comes down to it, we FEEL God is TRUE! Now, i ask you...What's more important than our Feelings huh??? i still Feel that god will Love atheists ppl no matter what.

  • @SolRosenberg84

You need to do a Video about "The Split Point". That is a REALLY Great observation and you put it eloquently into words. Just focus and expand on that.

  • You've actually arguments with intellectual religious people (I'm assuming), and you're imposing a probing question that nobody can give a valid answer to. Or, the people try to answer create a loophole to fill that void. Has anybody ever given you a DECENT answer to that question? You know, one that makes sense, and isn't the "well it doesn't make sense to you because you don't believe in it" kind? Seems a little redundant, because you would have mentioned it in the video if so, lol.

  • @BokuWaJShi *actually had arguments (Like I've got the worst grammar on Youtube :P)

  • @BokuWaJShi *the people who try to answer (I need to proofread before I post)

  • @BokuWaJShi

The usual response is "BUT I HAS BIBLE LOLOLOL"

  • 3:41 rofl!!!

  • a very excellent point!

  • you're sharp, I would really like to see you in a live debate.

  • Why give those who believe in the make believe any credit at all?

  • Yet most apologists don't follow their feelings and not get their children vaccinated, or not use technology based on that science. How many apologists have gone and joined the Amish? I guess, you only trust your feelings, until there's something in it for you.

  • "In the deeply rooted materialistic culture of the science world, if it is not weighable, countable, or measurable then it is ignored." Graham Hancock

  • Feelings are just feelings. They have no effect on facts (or truth).

  • I belive in God, maybe diffrently than anyone I know, but I do. It doesn't help me and it doesn't hender me. I rarely if ever speak of it. I think it is the religous and spiritual radicals who cuase socail harm. If someone gets in my face with their esoteric, or anti-esoteric belifes I rudly walk away. Of course I do have a hand-full of friends whom I enjoy conversing with, one with very similure beliefs as myself, one a total new ager, and the other a chemical reductionist.

  • @creationofself You aren't the judge if your belief doesn't hinder you. The rest of us are. Also, no, it's not only the radicals that cause social harm. The moderates do just as much, if not more.

  • @creationofself So why is your self defined god right and no other form of god or do you believe that everyones god is right? How do you go about creating your own definition of a god and what is your methodology of understanding how it works or even if it works? Just curious if you can actually explain your position.

  • @ronocko I am unsure if my god is right. From the best of my understandings of experience and what I have studied there may exist a reality which alludes to god - enough to where I will say I believe this to be the case. Certain? Never. And, no I do not believe everyone’s god to be right due to either these additional 1s and 0s defining god within very solid ID parameters, or as some vague divine neutral energy of vitality, pervasive in everything. I think there is a meet in the middle.

  • @ronocko As for my methodology? The explination of my position towrds my belife in god? 500 characters to work with? Not gonna happen.

  • @creationofself Well feel free to PM some time with your explanation I'd really love to see what reason you have for a god, Personally I don't see any need for there to be god and have seen no evidence to suggest there is one so until evidence is proven that one has to exist or that there is one I remain in disbelief.

  • Cool. Totally understandable. The beliefe of disbeliefe does not make the person who they are until they want to belong to some club.

  • HAHA! I like your apologetic voice. It's like when black comedians make fun of white folks. :)

  • DUDE YOU'RE AWESOME!

  • Excellent point, well made.

"I feel it must be true - I really, really, feel it is true! I don't want to live in a world where it isn't true!" etc etc

When you *want* to believe something - that is when you have to be at your most skeptical and critical.

  • we are stupped

  • Great video as always. This reminds me of the people who say "Oh, well you have to have faith in something." Actually no, sorry. I rely on evidence rather than personal feelings and random crap I pull out my ass when I'm formulating my view of reality.

I miss the bongs in the background.

  • God doesn't have human qualities, humans have god qualities. Like father, like son/daughter.

  • Considering how fallible people are, to follow your own feelings as a rule of thumb would be a very stupid idea. If a preacher walked up to me and said that, I'd probably say "well, alright" and slap him.

  • It's because this time their feelings are really, REALLY warm and really, REALLY fuzzy...duh.

  • @DarkMatter2525 You crazy kids.

  • You know your god is man-made when he hates all the same people you do.

    --[from Usenet]

  • I trust nothing

  • wow as ever a clear concise and funny video, you deserve way more subscribers, keep it up!

  • word.

  • Good point, nicely explained. I'm glad you're making vids again.

  • @RaptorWizard

    Are you a wizard?

  • @SolRosenberg84 Yaweh is the only true wizard of the 3 monowizardic abrahamic religions.

  • @SolRosenberg84 the alien visitors from other universes are wizards with highly evolved magic powers, which we are slowly evolving into. i may be a wizard too in future incarnations when my soul ascends into higher dimensions of intelligence.

  • @RaptorWizard it's a possibility, sure.

  • @RaptorWizard You're sick. It's very immoral to wish torture on another person...

  • @RaptorWizard Burn stupid Christian BURN ...see how stupid you sound? shut the fuck up you're suppose to be loving not judgemental in your religion.

  • @LuciferAtram God is very judgemental of sinners in decreeing their ultimate fate, and the Catholic Church burnt heretics at the stake, so why should I not emulate such actions if high ranking church authorities also did so? It is your logic that is flawed. Hell is reserved solely for those who followed Lucifer in the pre-existence or those who have reached the highest knowledge, like Saruman, but despite their greater wisdom rebel against the light; like the Devil. Heaven has different levels.

  • @RaptorWizard you're wrong,Why be like the Catholic Church? why follow what they did?where is your love? not even your God can judge me or anyone else you're just another brainwashed christian.

  • @LuciferAtram I have no love but I do have a knowledge of what may be the truth. Just because I beleive in Christianity doesn't mean that I am a perfect saint who will follow all of its "iron rod" guiding principles. Orthodox Christianity is the safe road, however all the world's sciences, arts, and religions are branches of the same tree. Evolution and creation were both used by God, a highly evolved extraterretsrial, to seed life. Along with pole shifting, Lucifer's aliens will return in 2012.

  • @RaptorWizard I've seen various prophets who had predicted all kinds of catastrophies, such as evil aliens waiting in the tail of the comet Hale-Bopp (in 1997) to conquer us - btw none of these catastrophies occured ;-)

I have a curious question for you: Assuming the 2012 catastrophy will not occur and Lucifer's aliens don't take over (btw I strongly suspect they don't) - would you then be glad that we had a lucky escape, or would you be rather disappointed that you were proven wrong ?

  • @eltamin1966 I am not a prophet, but merely an investigator of the claims of prophets. I have strong faith that the prophecies of 2012 will come to pass, therefore proving that our world is governed by a mystical or God-like providence. If it doesn't come to pass, I will realize my foolishness and adopt a worldview based on rationality, seeing that one of the biggest (if not the biggest) prophecies were proved invalid. The answer would then either be science and Atheism, or dogmatic Christianity

  • @RaptorWizard Let's talk again in Jan 2013 and we'll celebrate our rescue ;-)

I read people saying that in 2012 earth, sun and the centre of the Milky way would be aligned and that would cause a catastrophy. Astronomically the most southerly point (the winter solstice) of the sun's apparent path (the zodiac) just crosses the plane of our Galaxy (the Milky way) in 2012, and that's really nothing to be afraid of. The situation in 2011 or 2013 would only be minimally different.

  • @RaptorWizard I have a feeling you were joking...

  • @RaptorWizard Oh...nevermind. Apparently you weren't.

  • but then they just say that science is wrong because it's always updating :p

People who can't accept the findings of science and that all the technology we use today is proof of the fact that humans were not satisfied to just accept "our instincts are correct" we strove to learn, know more and create and discern based on science not on the back water ideas a desert tribe came up with 6000 years ago. They should consider themselves lucky not everyone is like them so we can progress further.

  • ...as metaphors for life, the universe, and everything instead of taking them literally. Eastern religions are very intrapersonal and a good metaphor for feelings. The judeochristian religions are metaphors for a domineering ego. I don't know what my point is. Feelings are a legitimate experience useful for inter/intrapersonal understanding and logic is necessary for objective understanding. Both are needed for a more complete perspective, as long as we don't extend past their ability.

  • There's a distinction between feelings (a term I think is a little too vaguely defined here) and just making shit up. I think this video and the last are intwined somehow. It seems that language is inadequate for expression of feelings. It seems human brains aren't satisfied with unknowns, so we tend to just make shit up when we have "spiritual" experiences which are nothing more than an effect of the brain. I began to understand things better when I started looking at religions as metaphors fo

  • Hello Bullwinkle =D

  • At 1:21 - favorited. :P

  • I love you... with my cerebral cortex.

  • This rant seems very un-philosophical to me. Your argument seems to be when theist come to some assumptions there probably wrong(assumed and generalized) and your basic assumptions are off the table some how de facto correct. If your going to start questioning basic metaphysical assumptions about the world we're going to quickly find ourselves in a place were we must admit we know nothing about anything and everything is subjective.

  • I know he did it....I can tell just by looking at him. Ya, total bullshit.

Just because you FEEL that the next roll of the dice is going to win you the big one, doesnt mean it will happen. Just because you feel that the suspect is guilty, doesnt mean he is guilty. Same with him being innocent. Ask these people this Solrosenberg. What if a judge accepted "I just FEEL like this person is guilty" would they as a jury sentence them to prison or the death penalty based on feelings and no evidence?

  • with all the knowledge, science and understanding that we have of this world today, i cant believe that people can still believe in god. its just so childish and absurd

  • Good video as always. I really enjoy your ramblings. They are pure win, plain and simple.

  • The common sense we've acquired in our everyday life can be more of an impediment when it comes to scientific insights. We are not equipped with a sense of very long stretches of time in the history of the universe or in the evolution of life on earth. Evolution didn't supply us with that, evolution didn't need it.

  • I like the new look to your room!

  • Great point. I had a very strong feeling I needed those last four beers last night, but I seem to have been wrong.

  • ah I have encountered this many times. People seem so sure of their beliefs but when you get to the very foundations of those beliefs, it's never based on reason and evidence, it's usually "because it feels right" or "I just know" or some sort of emotional argument. Especially when arguing against Gods and States.

  • Hiya folks SolRosenberg84 here, hiya folks SolRosenberg84 here. lol jeez it's like a meandering barrage of monotony in my head. Condemned by a mantra.

  • @EllyMcCormack

I really have to stop doing that.

  • @SolRosenberg84 haha I started all my videos the exact same way for a really long time without even realizing it. "Hey everybody!"

Then I noticed I started them all the same way and was like "fuck it, i'm just gonna keep starting them with that."

  • @SolRosenberg84

    Don't. I enjoy the greeting.

  • @SolRosenberg84 I don't think you should stop. It's kinda a cute opening. ^^
