  • Boys will be home, the girls safe in bed.

No wars to win and kind words be said.

    Lovely alto voice.

  • I have been trying to work out the words she is singing in the first verse

    she is awesome

  • Apologies re my last comment. I'm sure now Diana did a different song on the shorter Tuesday Later show,as I think she sang 'All God's Children ' which is on her 'Better Times Will Come ' album. I feel Diana was a bit like a fish out of water as the other acts were more rock orientated so I was glad she had fellow American Andy Williams on the show with her. I will ask her on 15th when I see her how she got on on the show and had she met Andy Williams before. Welcome back to the UK Diana!

  • Thanks for correcting me. I couldn't remember what she sang on the Tues show. Which album have you now ordered ? Both her main albums are good so either will be a good introduction to her. Yes,she is quite unique though in the Gillian Welch and Iris DeMent mould. She has quite a few videos on YouTube as I'm sure you have seen. She had 2 earlier albums out but they were different in content to her 2 more recent albums. She was adopted and only found her ' voice' when she traced her real family.

  • Hi Sarah, thanks for explaining things. Yes,Diana has had an interesting life which she talks about at gigs and in her songs. If you enjoy this sophomore album may I suggest you also order 'My Remembrance Of You' which is an excellent album,my favourite song being ' Pony ' about a Native American girl taken from her parents and put in a white persons school. A very atmospheric song. Also a good song on there is 'Pretty Girl.

' about a dance hall girl who doesn't want that life anymore. Pauline

  • I have now managed to watch the Tuesday Later Show on iPlayer and I was correct as on that show she did sing ' All God's Children ' which she based on her own life of looking for ' faces that look like my own ' when as a teenager she left her adopyed parents to find her natural family in Tennessee finally finding her grandparents, who were a musical family. Her mother now lives in England hence her coming here often maybe. Listen to this song and it will tell you abit about her life.

  • What young person Sarah ? By the way Diana Jones isn't her real name. She uses it professionally to save upsetting her adopted and natural family.

  • I am getting a bit confused with your comments as I haven't asked for any information about the 13-year-old girl at all. I should also point out that Diana didn't have a sad or a difficult childhood as she was adopted by a couple in New York and raised in a loving home. In fact it was her adoptive father who encouraged and helped her trace her birth family,so was done with their approval. Diana doesn't write songs about her past as such but mainly about other people.

  • Im also not too happy about you saying the words ' a real good'en ' when talking about the song 'Pretty Girl' which is a fictional song. Likewise I'm not too happy at you describing her album as ' fab' as I don't feel that word is appropriate about her genre of music. Diana didn't live a sad and unhappy life as you seem to think she did, She writes songs based on observations of other people and events, not so much her own. I admit a few of her songs are about her but not many. She's happy!

  • Pleased to be able to say that Diana is back in the UK in October. I have just booked to see her again (twice this year) at the Bon in Bristol on Thursday 15 October. UK fans please note she is appearing on Jools Holland's Later show the week before. Not to be missed. New fans... miss her at your peril either live or on the Later show. Tickets for her gigs will sell out fast so buy them now!

  • Hi, Thanks for your email. Glad you enjoyed Diana last evening on the Later show. I was a bit disappointed she was only allowed to do one song (the same song she sang on the Tues edition) but glad she was invited on the show. She looked relaxed and sang 'If I Had A Gun ' well. It is on her latest album 'Better Times Will Come ' but I should point out it isn't typical of her songwriting really, though the style is the same as her other songs. I recommend her debut album ' My Remembrance of You'

  • Excellent song from the new album of that title. Saw Diana last Thursday and she put on a first rate show. What I like about her is she sounds the same live as she does on cds. She is a very confident, friendly person and it is a pleasure to go to see her every time. I hope to be able to see her on YouTube in the future,as it helps promote these singers and bring them to peoples attention, thus promoting record sales and concert attendance. If you are new to Diana go to see her- well worth seeing.

  • I just saw her tonight in Berkeley, and agree completely, I've never seen anyone more talented, go see her for sure if you can, she's an historic performer.
