@christopher01985 I suggest you visit my fall foliage forum on my jeff-foliage website where I can answer questions like this better. Also you can read through my blog for tips on the best time to travel in New England's fall foliage.
I wish I lived in New England. Maryland's alright, but I hate how it's not northern enough to be in NE or southern enough to be considered a Southern state.
I created a new updated version with more current shots of New England. It still is accompanied by Cheryl Wheelers song Fall in New England. You'll find it among my other slide shows and the name is New England Fall Foliage for 2010. I put a lot of time and effort into this new version and if you think this one is good check out the new one...
Planning our first visit in Oct 2010 so we play this lovely song all the time! Thanks for sharing. Really looking forward to exploring this beautiful area of the USA.
@johnmcdylan I've posted a new version set to the same wonderful song and it's called New England Fall Foliage for 2010 and I think much better since I paid much more attention to the flow of the song... Let me know what you think.
Me and my family traveled from New Mexico to RI, MA, New Hampsire and Maine last October. We saw some beautiful scenery in New England. Your video brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing your video.
not a problem Taos, I too have driven that route a few years back.. up through Arizona Wyoming and SD. Some of the most beautiful country.. I'll have to see about putting a new vid together.. I just need a new song that will do as much for my pictures... :-) suggestions?
I was in New England fall 2009. It is really beautiful. I traveled to NYC but I booked a ticket to Boston to see New England at Fall. Really beautiful.
btw in New Hampshire you can legally drive without seat-belts. It is nice.
I've been to Rome and Sicily and while I may not choose to live there over here.. :-) I will say that your part of the world is incredible and I would love to visit again.. My wife has never been there and I want her to be able to experience the history the art and feel of your part of the world...
Ciao vistapho59, you are right Italy is fantastic for hystory, panoramas, culture, but it's not so good to spend your life to live in Italy in my opinion. Much better to live in New england and visit Italy twice per year! (With your wife I suggest you Venezia (Venice) and Firenze (Florence), they are both very romantic!
New England, best place in the world. The most culturally defined American region and the most progressive (even w/ Maine's unfortunate rejection of same-sex marriage).
Of course, I visited the last year California, Utah and Nevada, and it was one of the best trip of my life. But New-England have a specific charm. Remind me Europe, mixed with the dream of the american way of life. The next year I visit New York, I hope that I am going to like it too. ;)
Nice video. I need some Fall leaves for science programs I'm conducting in Florida this month. Would greatly appreciate some Fall leaves being sent to me via uspostal. Will send you some seabeans that I find on the beach. Thanks.
Last year on Sunday morning I did the exact same thing...watched this vid...I live in Milford, Connecticut and I would'nt change being a New Englander for anywhere else, it's in our blood, my grandparents were one of the founding families of the town I live and now its in my childrens blood, this vid. is so beautiful, it truly captures what I try to describe to my friends across the pond, thank you
@ClamChowdah429 Well my wife is working on the Folger Genealogy and we did come in from England but I also know there is a German part in there because Folger is said to mean to follow or serve... As long as I don't have to serve time... :-) but my ancestors helped found Nantucket and then they either did great things or were in the vernacular rather despicable...
Love the Video and Music, was just there for Labor Day and the air was crisp and clear and the beach at Old Orchard was delightful and the sunset was spectacular. What is not to Love there, it's all good!;~}
How to describe a place like Vermont? Wow if I was Robert Frost maybe but I couldn't begin to capture it... Maybe if you read Frost's poem a road less traveled.. I think that expresses Vermont if not all of New England..
Every New England state is beautiful. It is also the most progressive and cultured area of the United States. No offense to anyone else, but you cannot deny it if you live here.
This is true to some extent. But mainly that's because the region is the birth of our nation. Also there is racial tension between the swamp yankees and recent ethnic groups that have dominated many parts of the region. You can't deny that either. But all in all, yes, every American should take pride in New England.
I'm from England, England (not new England ,old England... I'm confused)
well anyway's i think i would like to live in America for a little while and i think if i were to go over I'd love to go to the new England region (need the money first though)
I too would never live anywhere else. Other parts of this country are flat, brown and plain. Nothing beats a fall day here. The crisp air / the smell of a neighbor burning firewood / apple orchards / pumpkins / the sound of leaves in the wind - the foliage with a white church steeple in the background - Our other seasons are the best also - The promise of a white Christmas - The blooming flowers in the spring - Summers that are not overly hot --
Lived here all my life, within 30 miles of where my ancestors came almost 400 years ago, and we never left. All my neighbors are from "away" and they will never now leave New England. My husband is a first generation American (I'm a 14th generation American) and he could have lived anywhere in the world, but he chose New England. Those who have never lived or visited here don't know what they are missing!
Well "the man" I've traveled the world, Have you? . I tend to agree that the traffic here is murder but if you stay out of Boston, it's not too bad.
Let me know if you ever come up to New England because from what you've told us you have never visited here... Just as I've never been to the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Send me a list of things to see there and I'll send you a list when you come for a visit..

For the average American, New England is probably the worst place to live other than maybe Alabama, Mississippi, and Alaska. The only people who could like it there are people who were raised there (and never lived anywhere else), very dull people or weird people who don't fit in, and hippies who where life is good t-shirts and spend their time posting videos about fall foliage. Boston is really the only acceptable place and it is only about average or below average when it comes to U.S. cities.
That's why I said I was confused above... Because CT is an incredible place with all the elements of New England... well ok no mountains but the seashore and route 169 and the quiet corner and so forth and they are no slouch when it comes to fall foliage (which I know a little something about) so why
atl1192 feels they are so different as to not be true New Englanders is beyond me... Maybe they will comeback and enlighten us!
How can it get better? Cheryl Wheeler music and beautiful New England pics in the fall. I loved every frame and of course you just can't miss with Cheryl Wheeler's music music.
Vistapho59: I just came back to see your pics and listen to the beautiful song. It's been awhile since I've been here. Have you decided if you'll be putting up any snow scenes? We sure could use that in S. Florida. It's so darn hot and humid. By the way, I would love to see some lighthouse scenes. Our bathroom was done completely in lighthouses to the max a few years ago. I'll see what I can do about creating a new one. I've tried to contact the singer to get permission to keep using this song but no answer. It (IMHO) the song that makes the pictures come alive. I have many new pictures from this fall and I'll be looking at creating a new fall video in the future... Now what song to use... hmmm....
This was absolutely beautiful. Thanks so much for doing this. As a transplanted New Englander to Florida 17 years ago, this just really shows me what a mistake I made in leaving.
Well when the season is over I'll see if I have enough to create a new one. The other one was 2003-06. I already have some nice shots from this fall and God willing I'll get some more.
I hear you. I am a transplated New Englander to Los Angeles. What a mistake. This place has no soul. I miss the Fall and Spring. What I did not realize is that the pay off for Winter is Spring and Fall. Here it is semi-desert and all that implies. It is only pretty when you water obsessively and then you get a short spring and summer. If I could move back I would in a heartbeat!
I also moved from New England to Florida-- from New Hampshire to Palm Beach County, Florida. I like Florida, but I do miss the seasons. If I could have found a teaching career in NH I would have stayed. Unfortunately that proved near impossible due to the lack of growth, which, ironically, is what keeps the place beautiful. I packed up and came down here. Have a great career, and a great life, but I miss the seasons, mountains and real trees. Those living in Florida know what I mean. LOL.
Nice!
