ipod touch 2g=iphone 3g

iphone 3gs=ipod 3g

Somewhere in iOS 4 theres a memory hole. Theres a service or action taken by the OS being loaded into memory, however, a few minutes later when you unlock your phone and do something else, it loads into the memory again, leaving the old copy  there with it. When this happens over and over your memory disappears. The times when you find yourself lagging so terribly bad is because you only have between 3 and 5 megs available memory. Thats why restarting fixes it temporarily .

mine was even slower.. the only thing thats worked for me was Restore to 4.0.1 -- start from scratch (not from a backup!!!) turn of spotlight and then do a hard reset... now its faster than ever.. even faster than this 3.1.3 in this video .. hope that'll last

Update itunes to 9.2.1 (5);

Reset your iphone 4 times; (home, sleep buttons for 10sec)

Same speed as new ! or even faster

Hey i updated my 3G to ios 4 and now it's running extremely slow. Is there a way I can downgrade back to 3.1.3.. Each time I try to downgrade my phone gets stuck in recovery mode and the software that I tried to use to get it out of recovery mode all my drivers on my computer fail.

Is this done after cold boot? My 3G with iOS 4 is slightly slower than your 3.1.3, but nowhere near the slowness of your 4 install. And it's not even restored as new phone - it's nearly full 3G 8 GB.

Damn I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have keyboard lag too and a lot of my apps are running really shotty. I like the spell check and some of the other little features of ios4 that have made it to the "archaic" iphone 3G, but I hope they make an update soon. Oh yeah, the back of my iphone 3G is now HOTTT all the time! The processor is cooking most of the time. Still am glad I updated though haha

Since OS 3.0 the 3G has been slower and slower. I can't say I blame Apple, they need to make an upgrade for the existing customers more attractive.

I installed OS4.0 and my 3G is pretty much useless now. I'm upgrading to iPhone 4 in a few days so I'm not too bothered, but before I sell my 3G I am definitely putting OS 3 back on it as I don't wish for anyone to pay to have to use this outdated phone as it is.
