  • What a vocal - amazing.

  • sounds real

  • i got here by accident...this shit is goooood

  • its open G by the way.

  • Man, I'm so glad i accidently found this video. Why are great blues guitarists like Roy so underrated. I have a new idol!

  • Amazing playing... i usually try to work out what a guitarist's doing during a solo, but i don't stand a chance here. I just grinned and realised he's chanelling awesomeness.

  • wheres the fuckin horse man????

  • He's Amazing! and with his background I'm not surprised. Not only has he played with the best he has become the best.

  • id take rog rogers over jimmi hendrix just personal preference. i appreaciate jimi guitar playing but i just never got the whole hype.

  • @pretty9reenpark4 I understand what you are saying, but back in 67' when I first heard Hendrix I was gobsmacked at the sound and technique he was basically pioneering, even though it was the sixties all the music before Hendrix was fairly safe, he changed all that.

  • bad ass slider

  • Motherfucker!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does he play standard tuning?

  • Any tabs for this?

  • I saw Roy and the Kings at the Triple Door in Seattle a couple of weeks ago. His playing is breath taking. I hate to gush but that's it.

  • He's really great. Best slide guitar player ever.

  • that's some proper muchafuckin slide right there

  • What year is this?

  • @surrealillness Roughly 1994.

  • Roy 4 ever!!!

He´s the man with the groove!!!

  • Roy 4 ever!!!

  • If you like this, check out Gambling Blues by Rory Gallagher.

  • god i love this song, i wish i could get it

  • @treatb09 youcan on zamzar

  • Wow....slide it on!

  • @MockingbirdakaSissy

    that's what she said.

  • i saw roy at the cain's ballroom in tulsa in 1999 at the blues festival. buddy guy, bugs henderson, roy stole the whole festival he was awesome. got his autograph to right when he walked off stage what a great guy.

  • Hmmmm.....now that's pretty damn good people..........

  • can you get tabs for this and his version of walkin blues

  • His acoustic slide is untouchable, by the way...

  • BAAAD!!!

  • Roy Rogers--this guy is absolutely spellbinding. There is no one that grabs me like he does. His playing is tops, his vocals are right there. The band behind him is great--he's got it all together. Just for the record--you can play slide in standard tuning--I do-- not at his level or style but everyone seems to like my style.

  • this is fukkin the shit, i love black cat bone blues

  • nice!

  • do you play slide guitar in usual tuning?

  • You can...but it's easier to play in open tunings cos you can play chords by barring with the slide.

  • oops i dint read that comment :P

  • depends on u have special tunings to play slide guitar. so u can pick chords with ur slide. but it is possible to play with a slide in standard E tuning.

  • Like every one else said, you can. I recommend Open G, though.

  • @letsgocubs13 ...Me 2

  • Hendrix paved the way. There wouldn't have been a SRV without Hendrix. Have any of those better guitarist come up with a Purple Haze or Voodoo Chile? Hendrix didn't leave anything else to say on the electric guitar.

  • ..spot on and somehow poetic, why SRV fans still compares Vaughn to Hendrix i`ll never know!

  • You forgot Little Wing... LAAAAAAAAAME

  • You have to remember hendrix was only 28 when he died, can you you imagine how he would have developed had he lived. Roy rogers is the man

  • 27 actually.

  • he is using a chorus pedal! so good...

  • What effects is he using?

  • People still argue over Hendrix and SRV?

  • @goodthingsare7 lool

  • @goodthingsare7 whats srv

  • @blobyist Stevie Ray Vaughan

  • @goodthingsare7 I guess they do although arguing over which guitarists are better is pointless. But this Roy Rogers is bad ass. I want more!

  • @goodthingsare7

SRV: Good Singer, Good Voice + Guitar Virtuoso, "Truculent" Style

Hendrix: Decent Singer, Average Voice + Guitar Maestro, Innovative Style

Roy Rogers: Average Singer, Bad Voice + Good Slide Skills, Traditional Style

    ____________________________________________________________

    And the winner is... SRV!!!

  • @ExAbstracto everything you stated was opinion, some people may think Hendrix or Roy have a better voice than SRV its all personal preference.. i personally love them all, but Hendrix is my personal favorite of the three. doesn't mean the others aren't just as great, they all have talent but slightly different styles. I don't think its really right to say which one of them is the best.. music isn't a competition.. I suppose I should rephrase that. music SHOULDN'T be a competition..

  • @Jimmy95x Sure, it's just my comment on the matter, an opinion as you said :) Also I know from first hand experience that what music should be and shouldn't be, therefore I completely agree with you! The only one musicians should be competing with, should gradually be themselves.

(Check out my channel, I need viewers to continue adding new stuff to my new YouTube channel! I need some motivation, thanks! :)

  • @ExAbstracto

well, if you call that "good" slide skills...... "good" ... LOL

the guy is a fucking MASTER of slide

  • @goodthingsare7 sure, brain jerkin' off has no end

  • @goodthingsare7 There's no argument. Greatness is greatness. But Hendrix had a far wider blues musical vocabulary and imagination. Hendrix's major influence was The Beatles and their British approach which was far more advanced and ecclectic.

  • There is no such thing as a general best guitarist ever! Its different in everybodys opinion! Although Jimi Hendrix is amazing, I get annoyed when people say "He's better than everybody".

  • thank you!!!

    thats exactly how i feel

  • @JamitMovies jimi was an innovator he took other peoples stuff and made it better... alot of blues players said he was the best bluesman around

  • @JamitMovies a guitar master is some one who can play all string instrument and make it sound wonderful.

    in my opinion...

  • @JamitMovies Me too. Everybody knows it`s Billy Gibbons who`s the best.....

  • oh yeah some funk wit dim blues oh yea

  • I never compare guitarists...but, Jimi Hendrix...need i say more!

    R.R does kick ass though.

  • yeah i can see you have something to say lol....pity it wasn't worth hearing

  • what the fuck were you tryin to say there?

  • SRV much better than Hendrix imo. Hendrix was perhaps the best showman, bringing electric guitar to the centre stage. Talent-wise, I would say there are many just as good and some better.

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome! it rocks!

  • why do people here and everywhere else compare guitarists? derek and roy are both great. There's no comparing, they both have their own indivivual preference as far as musical choice; they practice hard to get to where they are today. Don't compare, just be thankful their here for us to enjoy

  • What fun is that? It' like comparing quarterbacks dude, it just having fun.

  • the heaf sell a guitar of him for 400.000 euro.s sorry i dont now how to make it in dollars

  • f+~#@** hell i've only just watched the way he play and my god hisn fingers can fly

  • Does anyone have any idea which tuning he´s in?

  • It's Open D with capo on 5th fret ;)

  • @BluesJammer Das stimmt nicht. Es ist Open E with capo on 5th fret ;) oder open D with capo on 7th fret ;)

  • @BluesJammer so technically its open G xD

  • @BluesJammer

It's open E, not D. Surprised 9 people gave that thumbs up without even trying to play it...

  • Smoother than chicken gravy.

  • wow, very catchy song

  • Kept me smiling for ages!!!! Good man.

  • What a find! I'm thrilled! Thanks for posting

  • Got to love this!

  • Oh man that is one of the most amazing slide sessions I have ever heard !!!

  • Have you ever checked out Derek Trucks? This guy is good but Derek makes him look sick.

  • Thanks for the info, I have been checking out Derek and he is one of the best guitarists I have seen, not sure on some of his jazzy stuff but the bluesy numbers are great !

  • Derek dosen't hold ae candle to RR.

  • Derek is ranked 81st by Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the "GREATEST 100guitarists of all time". where exactly is Roy on this list? Oh, thats right...HE'S NOT ON IT.

  • you can't compare guitarists man! And about that rolling stone magazine's list....Kurt Cobain is 12th, while Santana is 15th and Frusciante is 18th...that sucks man!

  • I know they are out of order. SRV is ranked lower than Chuck Berry, but I believe the list holds no preference to "who's better first". Why can't you compare? We compare Quarterbacks don't we? It's all in fun, relax.

  • well i don't know much about american football but i assume that you compare quarterbacks by statistics (who's faster and all that). But comparing musicians is like comparing painters. There are some great and worse, but there is no the best one.

  • I don't know about that. I have seen many frustrated guitarists tring to copy Stevie Ray Vaughan. I would have to say that few would disagree that he was the best who has yet to have lived.

  • yeah but ive seen plenty of guitarist who could blow srv off the stage. just most of them play a different genre of music. personally i think earl hooker is a way better blues guitarist than srv unless youre talkin speed. but i think what that other guy is saying is that guitarists are artists there is no 'better than' you either like them or you dont.

  • I can agree with that.

  • YEAAAAAP!!!!!

  • thanx man, forgotten about this guy!great slide!!!
