  • This video sucks the dude holding the camera is all fidgeting. You do not show how to connect the air hoses or even give a explanation. worst video I seen as of yet.

  • @sourDskunk Did it say, "how to" or "tutorial"? What makes you THINK this is a how to video?! Get a clue ass cap

  • sooo.. how do you drop the trailer? im 17 and i want to get my cdl. so im trying to figure things out before then.

  • @JORDANROUBIQUE I have a connect and disconnect tutorial online. This was just a "time killer" video and not intended for instructions

  • @seansuth ahh. i do have a question though. could you make a video talking about how trucking has an impact on your life. because i have a familly and two kids here at home, and im still deciding wether or not to start trucking. could you do that please?

  • Over 30 years I've dropped 3 trailers (yeah, slow learner) so now I always get underneath with a torch and check the jaws. One of them I hooked up on a hill, released the trailer brakes, and it rolled off with 24 tons of steel. Even though I heard it click and the handle went in. Must look closely at the jaws :)

  • i know a friend that his dad are driving for bison company and he has a Kenwoerth W900 flatop realy nice truck and Seansuth is that ur own truck it looks good i just know that bison white trucks is drivers own truck and gold is bisons companys trucks

  • @dennisia95 Yeah, I leased this truck from them for almost a year, then moved on

  • @seansuth Okey well u still have the truck?? or what truck do u have right now ?

  • @dennisia95 Nope. Gave it back, last I heard another driver got suckered into a lease, told them where to stick it, then they called him saying he could have 4366 as a company truck. Right now, I'm going into a FL classic, or a Volvo soon

  • @seansuth oki cool what is a FL classic?

  • @dennisia95 Freightliners brick truck

  • @dennisia95 OOh Freightliner Classic is awsome truck love them they have big cab

  • Man i digg ur vids ur a gr8 insperration thanks

  • with todays fuel prices I thought he might of turned the engine off. One to preserve fuel and the other so he can hear for any air leaks and the other not breath in the fumes. Still a bit to learn?

  • @wilky1953 3 YEARS AGO fuel prices were different, Air leak, again, READ DISCRIPTION, fumes... Stacks are a good six feet in the air pointed AWAY from where the drivers work... Yeah, you got a bit to lean

  • @seansuth times like this you realise people do not read properly. I f wilky1053 had then he wouldn't have made an ass of himself. And as you say what fumes? What a numpty

  • @paininspain Yeah, they take a two minute video and make it gospel. Just another blow hard "Trucker" who makes the rest of us look bad to the average person

  • lifting the landing gear still looks scary from the time when all the trailer weight came down and broke my dads nose .

  • now i know where bison keeps the bills for the load. in the front of the trailer. look at 1:36

  • how come on some trailers u crank clockwise to lower the nose and on others u crank counter clockwise? i never understood that

  • different manufacturer of the landing gear. some companies gear it clockwise, some counter clockwise.

  • Daim thats one big dirty truck and trail xD

  • Yeah, middle of winter in BC is a bad time to O/Os

  • yea, you can hear it click, but your suppose to still do a visual, supertrucker.

  • Now once again, Go read other replies on mighty all knowing one

  • Naughty, naughty! You didn't get down under the trailer to check and see if the fifth wheel jaws were locked around the shank of the king pin! tisk, tisk. You did do the tug test, but you are also supose to do a visual.

  • Read discription and other replys supertrucker

  • Also, listen at 0:25. Listen to the motor, and watch the cab

  • go into michigan a lot of trailers have 5 or more axels

  • i was going 2 say what no pre trip

  • Don't take it bad, but when you connect the tractor to the trailer arent you supposed to put the tractor on forward to actually check if it's to the trailer, I've heard of people that having checked it, and when they on the road the trailer just slips off, I wanna start on the trucking business as well, so I'm learning, but I'm just asking.

  • he did, at 0:25. Listen to the engine.

  • once you've got thr trator connected to the trailer, does it matter if you raise the landing gear first or connect the lines?

  • I usually start front to back, so air is first. But there is no order you NEED to do it in. Droppinga trailer tho, you should lower the air bags on the trailer first. then dissconnect the air, then landing gear. that way the trailer wont settle wrong

  • hey sean nice video, i was just wondering on the glad hands connecting the trailer are they color coated, or taged. how do you know which line to hook where? i know the electrical line plug's in. just wondering.

  • Yeah either the hose is colored or handles or the O ring is red or blue

  • G'day sean from your fellow Australian truck driver :P

Couple of things ive noticed are very different from Australian driving, ur landing legs are around the other side, but that does make sense because of the left hand drive, but another thing ive noticed with american trailers, you only have two axles, over here we have three, but i drive a B-Double so i have six :P good on ya mate and keep on truckin :)

  • Yes there are diffirenses, but it does depend on the manufacturer. There have been trailers that have the leg handle on the other side, even some 5th wheel handles are on the left. I guess they thought if your on the side of the road, you could do it with out traffic beside you? As for the axles, I'd say 60% have two axles, the rest do have three, some have more. But yes the standard trailer is what's in this little video. Thanks for watching and commenting

  • I had a spread axle flatbed trailer (axles 10 feet apart) and the landing gear jack was on the right side of the trailer. Also, we have multiple axle configurations for trailers here. Some have one axle and some have up to six (although six is rare) or more.

  • why spread better then regular tandem

  • spread axle has a legal weight limit of 40,000 lbs. a regular tandem has a legal weight limit of 34,000 lbs. so you can legally have 6,000 lbs. more weight on a split axle.

  • why did the rpm's on the truck go up so much when you got out of the truck sean?

  • It's a high idle. I you leave it on low idle, the oil doesn't reach the top of the motor. After time, that can cause damage, so there is a switch to bring the RPMs to about 1000, giving the oil pressure to reach the top

  • oh okay i understand now

  • hello, my father handling trucks from 15 years of age. perfect as you've hooked the trailer friend, so it is done.

    see my videos

  • nice

  • I forget to also say retract trailer legs and stow retraction handle prior to connecting the hoses

  • Im guessing your in the UK, so i I can understand the terminology, I think your right. I had a connecting tutorial, but due to my company had to remove it for now

  • Rotate trailer turntable into forward receiving position, engage suspension dumpvalve to lower the cabin, reverse in guiding prime mover dual tyres to align with sides of trailer, turntable engagement at close quarters will be audible, engage trailer brake (can that be done prior to connecting hoses?), release clutch in low gear to test secure engagment of the trailer (ie. tug test), connect hoses (1 air, 1 electrics). How much did I get wrong on that??

  • i live on a 2500 acre corn and soybean farm, am 17 and can hook up a trailer just about as fast as any professional driver on the road

but our rigs are older and the air lines can be a real pain in my ass to hook up somtimes

un hooking from any of the tractors can be a pain [our trucks are not hooked and unhooked as frequent as an OTR truck [we use the same trailer for most of the year] and the 5th wheel mechanism can get a little rusty]

  • The guy forgot about his pretrip didnt look to if his kingpin was locked in .....I have seen a few drivers hookup and take off and drop there trailers fight there where it sits... I've been driving a truck for 12 years and i have so many dumb drivers out there (they shouldnt even be driving a 4wheeler)

  • please READ DISCRIPTION BEFORE COMMENTING, however keep an eye out for my tutorial version of connecting in the future

  • Good to see you do a PROPER tug test, heaps of guys I know don't and well they've paid the price, of a dropped trailer.

  • any particular reason you left Bison? Heard they are a big company. BTW, I'm from Surrey, B.C. and hopefully sometime next year I will start a driving school and get my Class 1 license. Can't wait! Love your videos :)

  • yeah... lack of miles, deductions for things they shouldn't be deducting off my check, paying for repairs that should have been warrantied, crap units, unsafe safty division, bad dispatchers/dispatching, broken promises, director of safety taking office staff sides, unlawful practices, forced dispatch, not getting paid for moves/deadhead/wait times... the list goes on my friend

  • oops. hit remove instead of reply (for your last comment) I'm starting Challenger on the 15th of Oct

  • Awesome video! I can't wait to start driving long-haul with my wife some day. I got my California CDL A license with Doubles/triples and tanker ends. about 3 years ago when I turned 18 and have been working for a local beverage company delivering beer ever since. More work than driving, but it gets the bills paid and then some haha!

  • HEY! nothing wrong with delivering beer! You are very important and have valuable frieght. lol

  • Nice video! I just got my CDL Class A instruction permit and started to learn all the pretrip stuffs... Can't wait to start hopping in and drive...

  • I have a question Sean. How do you get the truck aligned just right with the kingpin?

  • when you look in your left mirror, look at the rivots along the bottom of the trailer. count to the third rivot. align the outside edge of the outside tire tread to the third rivot and back up until the click

  • Wow, I had no idea. Thanks a lot man. I've always been interested.

  • Muy Didáctico, Muchas Gracias.

    Awesome!

  • thanks for posting that training video XD

  • nice little training video

  • it would but he didn't do brake check, fifth wheel check, trailer check, and lighting check so it's hardly a training video but a nice show of what it takes to hook to a trailer.

  • hey somebody knows his stuff. but if you read the discription, you'll understand.
