Black mountain rag was written by a fiddler from Black Mountain , N.C. named leslie Keith . he wrote it in the early 1940"s also he was one of the first fiddlers with Carter & Ralph Stanley The stanley Brothers i believe leslie passed away about late 1977 or 1978 if you have the cd Ralph Stanley live at mcclure recorded in 1975 you will hear Leslie keith play Black mountain Rag
bobby can do most anything. the osborne bros. are the greatest and too bad, they were not in the prime of there careers when bluegrass bloomed during the past 5 years.
son its black mountain rag..what part of west virginia are you from anyway..gee whiz, my wifes nephew has more sense than that!!! everyone knows black mt. rag..dangit, black mountain is the biggest dern mountain in KENTUCKY!!!
dumbass black mountain may be kentuckys biggest hill, but the song black mountain rag was wrote about a mountain in north carolina according to doc watson, that's what he told me. you need to get your shit together redneck. doc said the original version had words.
Yeah... I always thought it was about the Black Mountains in western NC, where Doc is from. I was also under the impression that he had written it, after hearing stuff like Steel Guitar Rag.
The name of the tune is "Black Mountain Rag". I first heard Bobby play this tune on fiddle at Hugo OK in 1971, which was the first year the Osborne Bros appeared at that festival.
carteru93 no apologies necessary, i am sorry for being so rude..i am glad to know and thankful that we have some young people with good taste in music. shux i don't know much bout music either..keep listening and GOD BLESS YE...
