After Henry died and Catherine Parr had married Thomas Seymour, Elizabeth stayed with them where she was sexually abused (not intercourse, but butt slapping and other romp games) which she played along with Thomas. That is the only thing I didn't like about Catherin Parr.
Koa is my fav out of all his wives, but i do love Kat Parr. The only thing I disagree with this vid, is the way you make Thomas Seymour as some knight and shining armor, well he wasn't, you forget while married to Kat Parr he tried to seduce the young Elizabeth. Katherine deserved way better then him. jmo
Anne Boleyn and Katheryn Parr are tied as my fave wives. It's a shame Kateryn Parr is not better remembered. She and Anne really sped up the Reformation, and Catherine,as this video showed, certainly influenced Elizabeth in her strength, ruling England in Henry's absence. I hear many people on here saying Aragon and Boleyn were ahead of their time, but I think the wife that was ahead of her time was Parr!
Based on the presenters pleading thier case I would choose her that old guy who spoke for Anne B I could barely follow what he was saying The others were good but shes the best IMHO I think Katherine Parr is like an older wiser tempered version of Anne B like the person Anne wouldve matured into if she had the chance
She did plead her case well. But the Katherine Howard video was the best one, I think, even though I don't think that much of her as an important figure.
Anne B and Kathryn are my two top wives. But I don't think that Kathryn was wiser, their circumstances were so different when they were both close to death I don't think you could possibly compare them.
But young Anne B was all about High ambition Brash Heady optimism, even if she had a son & firmly established her position as queen she would have had to learn to temper herself a bit if she wanted to be a truly successful one
high ambition, brash heady optimism :) good description lol.
But I still disagree, Anne was a truly successful Queen. She triggered the English Reformation and her influence was felt throughout history. On top of that, she left a powerful legacy in Elizabeth I. Her 'temper' was really guided by her conscience, and had she borne a son, the forces that had acted against her wouldn't have been able to touch her.
Starkey's words not mine Those forces would still be there her unpopularity Cromwell Spain & Henry's wasn't going to keep it in his pants just for her She had a terrible of habit of pushing buttons & alienating people I think in time she wouldve learned to tone it down
Right. Firstly, Cromwell wasn't anti-Anne exactly, he was more of an opportunist. That's why he moved against Anne when he did. He wouldn't have dared move against her if she was in Henry's good graces. Another legistical point, if Henry had had a son by Anne, he wouldn't have moved against her as it would put the boy's legitimacy into question, even if he believed rumours of her infidelity, which he probably did. So Anne would have been quite secure had she had a son.
I said her position would be firmly established but in order to wield that power more effectively she would have to learn to play the game differently This is you face all the time wasn't working for her thats all I was trying to say
Lol, Im getting thumbed down by the Anne fans because I said I like Catherine of Aragon. Katheryn Parr is my second favourite queen, catalina de aragon y castilla is my top queen
lol I get thumbed down by Catherine fans when I say I like Anne Boleyn! Or say she's not a whore and stuff. Just the way it is...controversial to this day. lol we agree on one thing...kathryn parr second top queen
Katherine is someone's favourite! She'll be joining the others in the near future. If you subscribe to our channel there will be plenty more Henry-related opinion in 2009.
thats because she was young and died for being an adultress. i do feel sorry for her but what she did was wrong but i do love her more than her cousin anne
Hey, DivineGurl, I've done some research & thinking since I last posted that and now I have to say that my opinion of Kat Howard has changed drastically for this ONE reason...She was H8's KARMA! Think about what he put Aragon through when he went after Anne and then what he put Anne through when he went after Jane. Kat Howard showed that jerk exactly how he made his wives feel...for once, HIS heart got trampled on, and HE was the one humbled and humiliated too...all because of a TEENAGER! haha!
haha u got a point i never thought of it like that, katherine of aragon is my fav and i hated how he did that to someone who loved him so much and then kat howard did do the same thing because he was in love with her at the time and he was big time humiliated like katherine of aragon...haha karma is a bitch.
favorite queens in order:
1) Anne Boleyn
2) Katherine Howard [cuz she's Anne's cousin lol]
3) Anne of Cleves
4) Catherine Parr
5) Katherine of Aragon
6) Jane Seymour

I think I've changed my vote from Boleyn to Parr!
AndromedaMariaCarmen 2 years ago
While I adore them both. But Boleyn was the most significant and controversial. So for me she wins.
