Because the people who worked on this game, who developed everything in and around it, no longer work there. That means their work is static and cannot be changed. @xXxLogandemonxXx Bass was super serious and very angry at everyone. Dynamo... not at all. Dynamo was very lax, and never lost his cool once in all his dialogues. The two are more opposites than any other characters I can name from the series.
@CrayonBat Well, it could go either way, as Bass is similar to both. I think Axle is the Bass of the X series, because he has similar abilities, like multidirectional fire. But yes, in attitude towards Mega/X, Vile would be a more similar choice.
Bass = Axle? I can see the resemblance with Megaman and Protoman, but Bass would probably insulted at the thought the Axle is his nextgen understudy, since Axle only looks good on paper and nothing else.

Bass is more like Metal sonic then shadow because Bass is not emo and crys over a girl who has been dead for 50+ years and Metal sonic was created for the sole purpose of destroying sonic (Bass was made for the same reason, to destroy megaman) and they both learn from their mistakes coming back stronger which makes Bass more like Metal sonic than shadow.

It's because of Astro boy that Megaman even exists. The X series was more original, but it still had some elements from the Astro boy story line. These are simply facts that no one has any control over.

Megaman has one key diffirence in that it's more focused on combat where as Astro boy is more focused on it's plot.

He was a somewhat improved version of Bass, as Bass.EXE is more powerful, and also can shoot rapidly over a wide area at one time instead of changing the angle of fire. Bass's fully charged shot was replaced by a sort of dark energy that can be manipulated into either a huge, lethal beam or several razor blades that cut through theopponent and do repeated damage. Oddly, though, he can only become activated when a dark soul is present.

How funny that in all his years of trying to best Light, Wily actually succeeded. On accident. Discovered a new form of energy, and made a robot stronger than X. Now because of this, Light looks like a chump!
Well.. Debatable. Certainly, Zero fought longer then X, but X with his armor, and ability to copy moves might be more powerful in reality, or at the least, equal.((especially by the end of the first three games.))
Unless your meaning one of Wily's Other creations, Such as Bass, which this theme is for, then your just full of it, since we have no comparison between the power of X and Classic Megaman characters, power-wise.

@marinalightyears Very true, he was a cyber-elf, but his power was not diminished by that fact. Remember Megaman Zero 3? X knocked out all the resistance soldiers by simply raising his hand... He probably aquired a lot of power during that century to do that, leaving me to assume he did fight for quite a while....
Dear god, if they had done MM8's voice acting right and changed things up a tad with the encounter this could've been the most epic damn fight with this music.
After Protoman pwns everyone, Bass gets ticked, comes back with a vengeance, and pwns Protoman and kills all his fangirls/boys because they make these weird, annoying squeaky sounds that piss him off.
If Bass has a problem, he blows it up. If he can't blow it up, he comes back with a bigger gun/bomb/weapon until he can.
Sonic Adventure 2 (the game that introduced Shadow) was WIDELY sucessful, and a damn good game.
It isn't an applicable comparison because Bass has never been the solo main character in his own video game.
Likewise, although Bass and Shadow are similar in many respects, there are key differences between the two.
Most importantly, Capcom did not invent the brooding, obsessed, anti-hero character. In your own context, Bass is a ripoff of other characters before him
@SeanNelsonIsTheBomb The concept of a brooding character has indeed been around a long time. Besides I'm not talking about being a fan of a specific title, just a character. Also Shadow's stand alone game was crap. To many continuity errors, a bunch of shit that apparently did not really happen(the 10 different endings), the weapons and vehicles only slowed the pace of the stages down, and they failed in an attempt to make an alignment system that gave players a unique experience.
@ChrisStohl Once you get good at STH, the weapons don't slow you down, and very few of the vehicles are actually required. The only ones that are handle the best too (them being the birds, the tiny hovercrafts, and the high-jumpers) Most continuity errors were in those "did not really happen" segments as well. I'm not saying Shadow was GOOD by any means, but it's not nearly as bad as what most people make it out to be.
Cute; but actually it revolves around the general theme of the primary characters in the game. Namely music. In japan Megaman was Rockman. Rock & Roll. Protoman was better known as Blues.
Though admitedly they were known as Gosspel and Forte in Japan, when they came to America they became Treble & Bass. Like the settings on a stero.
At the end of Power Fighters, Wily tells Bass that Bassnium soon won't be the most powerful energy source on Earth.
My theory is that Wily has found out a way to power robots through "viral energy".
His researches on virus biotech were not successful at first, and his first prototype virus incapacited robots instead of powering them: Wily had created Roboenza! It tool him several years of research to create the Zero Virus and use it to power Zero.
Dr. Wily accidently created the energy Bassnium, while researching Mega Man in an attempt to create a robot that could rival him. With this energy, he created Bass who was powered by it, and I think King was built with Bassnium as well.
Zero was created thanks to Wily's contruction of Bass and King, the accidently creation of Bassnium, and from learning all his mistakes and failures from the past.
Also, keep in mind that Zero was planned by Dr. Wily to be used against Mega Man and Bass. Why Wily wanted to destory Bass with Zero was because of Bass' rebelious nature towards his creator. Zero however couldn't be used at the time.
The only time Zero was ever activated during the time Mega Man was around was when Dr. Wily semi-activated him to pass on messages, such as telling him that he is Dr. Wily's greatest creation. Zero never killed Mega Man or anyone from that era.

zero is the upgraded version of bass. he replaced bass. dr.wily got sick of bass and his rebellious behavior so he created zero. megaman x is the upgraded version of megaman. he was buried before dr.light could install his memories

Actually Bass's Japanese name is Forte
It is odd that they changed it to just a different musical term
Forte was a more accurate name because it means a higher volume, ergo more powerful. But Bass is a low tone that has a lot of body. Even trade, I'd say

@WahPunch Since all names from the megaman/rockman series include musical terms. IE: Rock, Roll, etcetera. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Bass as in Bass-guitar.

@Ninja07Keaton i understand the inspiration but you can't just say that the creator looked at atlas and said gee let me create a robot just like him name bass. megaman deserves its own originality sooner or later. i doubt the creator was even thinking of atlas when he created bass. thats why i'm glad for the x series no one compares that to astroboy.

@trillination Inafune was a fan of Astro boy during his childhood,most if not all the characters in the Classic series were inspired by the characters of Astro boy. It's because of Astro boy that Megaman even exists. The X series was more original, but it still had some elements from the Astro boy story line. These are simply facts that no one has any control over.

@Ninja07Keaton fan or not if you were to ask him if bass is a rip off or so called inspiration to atlas. i think he would say no. megaman mabey but cmon people need to stop looking at megaman and saying oh yeah he's like that character from astro boy. or else you might as well watch astro boy and call this a copyright situation. inspiration creates one idea then its up to the creator to make it original or else he's screwed. i really have to say that megaman is totaly different from astro boy.

@trillination But it still does not change what I told you. From their appearence, to their concept, Bass truely is the Atlas of Megaman. Both have similar ablitilies and greater fighting strength to their respective rivals. Both have an all consuming desire to destroy their respective rivals. Megaman has one key diffirence in that it's more focused on combat where as Astro boy is more focused on it's plot.

@halo4isodst The one you're thinking of is Bass.EXE. He was a somewhat improved version of Bass, as Bass.EXE is more powerful, and also can shoot rapidly over a wide area at one time instead of changing the angle of fire. Bass's fully charged shot was replaced by a sort of dark energy that can be manipulated into either a huge, lethal beam or several razor blades that cut through theopponent and do repeated damage. Oddly, though, he can only become activated when a dark soul is present.

Well.. Debatable. Certainly, Zero fought longer then X, but X with his armor, and ability to copy moves might be more powerful in reality, or at the least, equal.((especially by the end of the first three games.))
Unless your meaning one of Wily's Other creations, Such as Bass, which this theme is for, then your just full of it, since we have no comparison between the power of X and Classic Megaman characters, power-wise.

Though, you may be correct. Though X may have had Less actual Fights during said century. ((If I recall, He WAS a Cyber elf During that time. so how much actual Combat he engaged in might be limited. ))
Also If you count ZX, Zero didn't last longer. since x is alive.. sort of. Zero too.

@marinalightyears Very true, he was a cyber-elf, but his power was not diminished by that fact. Remember Megaman Zero 3? X knocked out all the resistance soldiers by simply raising his hand... He probably aquired a lot of power during that century to do that, leaving me to assume he did fight for quite a while....

Sonic Adventure 2 (the game that introduced Shadow) was WIDELY sucessful, and a damn good game.
It isn't an applicable comparison because Bass has never been the solo main character in his own video game.
Likewise, although Bass and Shadow are similar in many respects, there are key differences between the two.
Most importantly, Capcom did not invent the brooding, obsessed, anti-hero character. In your own context, Bass is a ripoff of other characters before him

@SeanNelsonIsTheBomb The concept of a brooding character has indeed been around a long time. Besides I'm not talking about being a fan of a specific title, just a character. Also Shadow's stand alone game was crap. To many continuity errors, a bunch of shit that apparently did not really happen(the 10 different endings), the weapons and vehicles only slowed the pace of the stages down, and they failed in an attempt to make an alignment system that gave players a unique experience.

@ChrisStohl Once you get good at STH, the weapons don't slow you down, and very few of the vehicles are actually required. The only ones that are handle the best too (them being the birds, the tiny hovercrafts, and the high-jumpers) Most continuity errors were in those "did not really happen" segments as well. I'm not saying Shadow was GOOD by any means, but it's not nearly as bad as what most people make it out to be.

Cute; but actually it revolves around the general theme of the primary characters in the game. Namely music. In japan Megaman was Rockman. Rock & Roll. Protoman was better known as Blues.
Though admitedly they were known as Gosspel and Forte in Japan, when they came to America they became Treble & Bass. Like the settings on a stero.

At the end of Power Fighters, Wily tells Bass that Bassnium soon won't be the most powerful energy source on Earth.
My theory is that Wily has found out a way to power robots through "viral energy".
His researches on virus biotech were not successful at first, and his first prototype virus incapacited robots instead of powering them: Wily had created Roboenza! It tool him several years of research to create the Zero Virus and use it to power Zero.

Bass is pretty much the prototype behind Zero.
Dr. Wily accidently created the energy Bassnium, while researching Mega Man in an attempt to create a robot that could rival him. With this energy, he created Bass who was powered by it, and I think King was built with Bassnium as well.
Zero was created thanks to Wily's contruction of Bass and King, the accidently creation of Bassnium, and from learning all his mistakes and failures from the past.

Also, keep in mind that Zero was planned by Dr. Wily to be used against Mega Man and Bass. Why Wily wanted to destory Bass with Zero was because of Bass' rebelious nature towards his creator. Zero however couldn't be used at the time.
The only time Zero was ever activated during the time Mega Man was around was when Dr. Wily semi-activated him to pass on messages, such as telling him that he is Dr. Wily's greatest creation. Zero never killed Mega Man or anyone from that era.

well not sure if this is true but i heard that zero successfully killed mega man but dr.light had already made X zero went on a rampage and wily sealed him in a capsule to make sure he didnt turn on him( remember this is just a rumor)

zero is the upgraded version of bass. he replaced bass. dr.wily got sick of bass and his rebellious behavior so he created zero. megaman x is the upgraded version of megaman. he was buried before dr.light could install his memories
