You don't go to a Satriani show to see him stand in the back. His guitar is the lead vocals of this band. Beck is tasteful, Satriani is in your face. As for the speed, he's live, you try playing live. I bet you've never played a show worth balls in your life.

I think I've finally figured out the structure Satriani uses for his songs (ie how he puts together verses and the chorus, as wel as the solo). The first half is like any normal song: intro, chorus, and then verse. But he usually changes key about three times during the verse, returns to chorus, and instead of going to another verse like most songs, he bridges to his signature long solos before returning to the chorus for the outro.
