  • CaptainBalok thanks you, JasonBonitati... :)

  • Will need to listen to this and part 2 stoned next time.

  • No 1 video in net

  • This is music from my most enjoyable misspent youth

  • Every The Who's Album is Masterpiece~ No Doubt About It.But My Favourite Is Sell Out xD

  • Yeah..., no doubt about it, it's a veritable cornerstone

  • like if ur name is or you know a tommy. mine is :D

  • Tommy and Quadrophenia reflect Townsends own evolving thoughts on religion (Tommy) and then the learned nature of our personality and world-views (Quad).

  • first time listening to tommy from beginning to end and so far it's amazing.

  • WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC !!!!!!!!

  • Quadrophenia is Way better.

  • ALMOST FAMOUS!!!!!im in love with that movie!..And IM ON DRUGS!!!!hahaha

  • Great Album and song, the audio you have ruined in the process of uploading or recording. Your levels are completely wrong. Get a clue.

  • Saw this at Place Des Arts in Montreal last week (Roger Daltrey, Simon Townsend and a backup band) and it was AWESOME!

  • @raiderdline61 AHHHH my dad took me to go see Roger perform this yesterday it was AWSOME xD

  • The art work on the cover is brilliant. It is inside Tommy's head.

  • @JasonBonitati - Always thought this music was genius from every angle.

But thanks Jason Bonitati for all your hard work!!

It's made you part of Who history!!!

  • Best Classic Rock of all time! Cannot wait for the show in Seattle!~

  • Yes it was! Roger & band were so impressive...gr8 show!!!

  • im going to seee this live on saturday! i cant wait! i love the who!!

  • @dadsSG @BU? me 2!!!

  • @iamdld17 YEA! it was AMAZING!!!

  • listen to tommy with a burning candle and you can see your entire future

  • @ilovepoopooalot Almost famous...

  • @VoiceOfTheAbyss yep thats where i got the words from

  • @ilovepoopooalot

never get tired of that movie..

  • @DNBGuRu me either it is a awesome movie

  • @Rheinmetall20mm I'm glad, just take it for what it is.... which is a little weird and different. Like how I like the Beatles but it took awhile to understand the white album

  • @Rheinmetall20mm My friends parents took him to the Broadway show Tommy and that's how we got exposed, maybe we only liked it cause it talked about things too mature for us... I think we were in middle school. But if you think this is a ridiculous rock opera, check out the hilarious Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog

  • @808Dirk And I think Tommy is suppose to sound weird and confusing cause its suppose to be like his from his point of view feeling the "vibrations" or however he "sees" the world

  • @Rheinmetall20mm Can you tell me why the Mona Lisa is a great painting? I'm not saying this album is art like the Mona Lisa is art, but it has it's place. The sad twisted story is what got me interested.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm You are such a music expert, lets hear your band.... don't have a band? How about you name music that is worth your while? You seem to spend a lot of time talking about music you hate... why would you go out of your way to comment on music you do not like? Did you go to Justin Bieber's new video and critique his music too? Go watch Anthrax and pretend it's real.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm so you can say you don't like the lyrics, but that is a small part of writing an entire album. Just b/c ur a stones fanboy does not mean you have to hate other rock. You can have your opinion that you don't like Tommy, and we can have the opinion that we do like it. To each his own.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm you couldn't even write the french horn part in two days

  • The best Rock-Opera of all time, thanks for posting Jason.

  • young men in their prime!

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE THIS ALBUM!..................want to hear some juicy gossip from the who's tour of japan in '67 that they dare not print anywhere....go to "cool world nzoz1981" and press "see all" to find my 6 comments. regards.

  • WOW i give a huge YES! From one Who fan to another i just have to say yes, this album is a great breakthrough and i can't stress enough how awesome this band has been all this years and yet you can't seem to never put their stuff down for a minute i always see myself always listening to them sometime during the day! The Album Who's next is great too...thanks for this video dude!

  • It is sad the young people today have no imagination, just talkin trash!

I had imagination when young, still dream from time to time!

  • i had no reason to be over optimistic, but somehow when you smiled..... i could brave bad weather.

  • Anyone else make a play list of these videos that they play on loop?

  • Original was ways better .. "Tommy " the musical was mindblowing

  • I,having bought the LP in 1969 can tell you all the words from start to finish- sadly cannot sing them (even worse than Moonie lol)

  • @Rheinmetall20mm Trust me, writing rock operas is hard. I've tried. I'm still not finished.

  • Una sola pinche persona no le gusta por pinche amargada sin vida social.

  • You rock Jason! Many thanks for uploading the entire brilliant album!

    So enjoying :-)

  • Thank you so much my friend!beatifull disc!!!!!!!:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

    Saludos from Argentina!!!

  • Very nice video. Even though I'm not a massive fan of the album version, I really prefer the musical version. :O Great vid regardless.

  • Man, I love this version. It sounds great. I especially love the stereo effects of this version. The Album itself is great and timeless.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm How come Ive never heard of you then! Maybe 2 days in your dreams!

  • Just curious, which version did you upload this from? The 1995 version? The 2003 version?

  • @MattHatter

I'm not 100% sure on this, but it was probably the 1995 version seeing as I rented the album from a public library and their stuff is somewhat out of date. Why, is the 2003 version better?

  • @JasonBonitati Yeah I'd say it is. It's the "Deluxe" version of "Tommy." The 2-CD set.

  • @MattHatter

In fact it is the original version 1969 remasterized by 199.... The original was much better when listened at a pick up. I hope it was usefull for you. Brazilian congratulations. The Who was the King of Rock in Brasil by 70´s. In my opinion they are.

  • thank you soooooooooooo much for these videos!!!!

  • @Rheinmetall20mm Shut up, you are an idiot. This is probably one of the most important and vital LPs that actually made R & R accepted to any degree by our parents.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm Shut up, you are an idiot.

  • I'm going to get negitive comments for this but i don't give a fuck.

    The Wall is slightly better

and the voice sounds like pete to the guy that asked

  • @MultiPhisher I Don't believe you can compare these albums. The wall was, just like tommy, revolutionary but to different to compare. I like them both. But I like Pink Floyd more .. xD

  • @Rheinmetall20mm smoke a joint comeback and LISTEN to the entire album don't just hear it LISTEN READ the words SING the words make the album personal for an hour and a half then repost your comment

  • @MultiPhisher I know everybody is entitled to an opinion but arn't there some ignorant, naive and un-cultured people!

Im seeing Roger Daltrey on July 3rd first date of him performing Tommy in its entirety plus Who songs. Ive only recently got into it, despite having owned the Dvd for a few years. Will watch the dvd again before the gig! Thanks x

  • does anyone have the acutal movie uploaded on hear

  • The first time I heard this album I thought it was ok. The second time I liked it better...And by the third I thought it was a masterpiece. Pete is a genius.

  • who's singin'?

    this isn't daltrey's voice!

  • Comment removed

  • At 12 yrs old- my girlfriend and I listened to this and It thrust me into Rock 'n Roll forever! I love this album and it brings me memories of my youth...I'm 51 now and wish more cuts were on the radio TODAY!

  • whoever dislikes is obviously doesnt know good music if it hit them in the face ¬_¬

  • God help that one soul who dislikes this..

  • my dad played this when I was a kid and it always disturbed me. Then I saw the film and it disturbed me more.I'm only just beginning to understand the symbolic significance of it now at 39.Audi, Vide, Tace.

  • this is by far the greatest album ever made

  • @Rheinmetall20mm wow you are a big headed and thick head

  • I'm fucking hooked on this album.

  • I believe I could say this for all the people who viewed this video that The Who is truly a Rock band to behold.

Not to mention, that Tommy is the first Rock Opera album. But then again they say that about Freak Out! by the Mothers of Invention and Sgt. Pepper by The Beatles. So who knows and who cares? (no pun intended) This album is a classic and should be taken seriously instead of rotting away on an old mom and pop record shelf.

  • 1 person is deaf dumb and blind

  • Was listening to this more than 30 years ago.

Today I listen classical music most of the time but, coming back to Tommy, I really hear there is more music here than in the crap they play today on radios.

  • the who is planning on doing a quadrophenia tour next year 2011 i think they are preforming in the uk then in north america but not 100 on the tours location yet

  • Oh wow, I haven't heard this in years. thanks for uploadin

  • Thanks for putting this together. One of my fav old original Who albums.

  • Totally awesome ........

  • This is sweet! Thanks, man!

  • @Rheinmetall20mm

If you could write this is 2 days how come I never heard of you then? I guess Quadrophenia would have taken you 3 days?

  • reminds me of nintendo i love this music and i dont want to spell for you !

  • Love Entwistle's french horn contributions to the album

  • Thanks SO MUCH for posting these! This is an awesome album. My high school marching band did a show that was Tommy-themed my senior year, and that was over 10 years ago. I really got into this album from that show, and listening to it now is freakin' sweet.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm Ok, perhaps you could give us a link to some of your recent masterpieces, I would surely be interested in hearing the greatest rock songwriter of all time.

  • it's a mix between classical and rock n roll..... i call it TOMMY!!!!

  • Tank you "Sir" Peter for that musik

  • @MegaLennartz Sorry, but Peter was never knighted by the Royal British Order, so he isn't a, "Sir."

  • @Rheinmetall20mm You don't get it? I'm sorry for you, it would suck not being able to understand this album and be able to experience it fully.....oh well. I get it, and it is great, soooooo better luck next time. Some ppl get it, some don't. Sucks. THE WHO!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Rheinmetall20mm

Please email me when you're finished and it's recorded

  • Jason, I've been meaning to thank you for a long time so much for bringing this masterpiece from the Who to this medium . Thank you very much from an inveterate Who fan. It has provided me joy, fun and introspection, in no particular order lol. You did a bang up job with the sound, tonality and lyrics. Who are You? lol

  • @TheConnord12

You're welcome!!! Glad I could help, from one Who fan to the next.

  • agreed. greatest

  • @Rheinmetall20mm hey!!! GUYS!!! mozart just came back from the dead, nice to meet you mozart...please can you rewrite sargent peppers for me in 3 hours? i'll pay good money.

    WTF dude, seriously.

  • Well, I think it is brilliant, anyway. After all, I can listen to everything from Led Zeppelin to Lohengrin. If I like it you may rest assured that there is artistic merit in it. I tend to avoid 'Rap' and the majority of the new forms of 'RnB' as these are normally rubbish. With a few exceptions.

  • one of the best rock n roll bands that we ever had..

  • all in all the greatest album ever , music peaked their and then !! Peace....

  • Абсолютный шедевр!

  • @Rheinmetall20mm This is a phenomenal album. Check this out, put on some headphones, empty the BS music of today out of your head, and get the lyric sheet in front of you. Just let it take you on a ride. it's all context. They didn't have Garage Band on a little laptop with loops the kids all have today. They did this in real performance, real inspiration, and very archaic gear. It's innovation.

  • Pure Genius

    pure beauty

    pure soul

this piece is beyond war and pettiness

if man can still hear and appreciate music like this 1000000 years from now there will still be some hope for the human race that is we are lucky or sesnible engough to make it that far

  • A lot of people think Who's Next was their peak; I believe it was this album. Moon slowed down after this. He was never as sharp again.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm

uh huh. if u could u would have already done it. but lemme guess, worldwide fame, money, and the adulation of millions of people isnt your thing right?

  • One of my all time favorits or eitt af mínum uppáhalds

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to post this in parts! The album has to be listened to chronologically to fully appreciate it.

  • @Rheinmetall20mm

Oh really? Then why don't you actually look at the lyrics to every song, and come back to me when you've figured out that it's not so easy. Keep in mind too, that the writing had to coincide with the music they were playing at the time, the scope of the entire album etc.

Give me a break dude lol

  • @JasonBonitati HAHA, are you kidding me? this has to be a joke..

  • @JasonBonitati I've heard about "Tommy" when I've read about the Beach Boys later work like SMiLE and Pet Sounds. It's supposed to be a rather "complex" psychedelic album which fits me perfectly of course! This is the first time I'm hearing this album and it sounds very fresh even in these days. The only track I've heard before is "Pinball Wizard" which was the opening number to a huge school concert I played in last year.

  • "Listen to this song with a candle and you'll see your whole future"

  • Thanks for the post.Thought this was lost on here.

  • Nobody, in the rock and roll, pop or whatever, takes the time or has the talent to do these grand pieces anymore

  • Just wanted to throw this out, since there seems to be some confusion: on the original album, in the song 1921 Tommy's father kills his mother's lover, in the 1975 movie they changed it so that Tommy's father is killed instead. Not sure why they changed it, but who the hell am I to question one of the greatest rock bands :D

  • I love this opera its so well written.

  • 0:08 troo dat

  • Awesome album I did a LSD trip and listen to the whole album what a great trip!

  • tommy sees the crystal white bearded man.tommy engages with the christ vision. the saviour of all dysfunctional families-- similtaneously he encounters all great fortune and money after world war one. further he drops acid

  • best album ever !!!!

  • i hearrd this song froom the moooviiiee "Almost famous" I should listen to this with a candle light burning :D

  • @Detth2you erm...I mean album sorry

  • Okay, really think about what was happening then. ABBEY ROAD came out that year. And with all it's studio tricks it never got klos to being where Tommy was. They did massive overdubs, orchestration, vocals thru a Leslie Speaker.....everything. And here comes the Who doing a rock opera without any of those things.

  • What a deadly f*cking band, almost as good as supertramp.

  • 1969, the year that monty python put on their show

    it was a good year

  • Went to see The Who twice in 1970, Feb 15th Hull City Hall, December 16th Scarborough Futurist Theatre. They played Tommy from start to finish, both concerts were great, but the Hull gig was fucking awesome, the night before the had played Leeds University were 'Live at Leeds' was recorded, Both gigs were recorded of a live album, at Hull the Band played better, but the Bass was not recorded so the Leeds tapes were used, if only! it could have been 'Live at Hull'

  • I got to see the band in NC a few months before Keith Moon died. I will never forget that concert. John actually looked at me when I borrowed some binoculars. After the concert we waited out back and some nut was jumping on their limo. Police let people beat him off, then we got to see the band come out and ride off! I was only 8 feet away from them! Loved John's french horn, since that is my instrument.

  • As far Bonham or Moon. Bonham practiced his ass off forever to get as good as he was, plus his talents were phenomenal for 21 when Zeppelin I came out. But Keith, NEVER praticed.. Plus The Who found him when he was 17, and was already up to par with Bonham by then. Moon's talent will never be matched by another human besides Moon himself. Kenney Jones once said,"There is no other drummer for The Who, there will only be Keith." - nuff fucking said.

  • First and foremost.... Great fucking album. Secondly I envy JimyJak for seeing Keith Moon alive. I was born in 86 so i never had a chance. Awesome band definately one of the untouchables.

  • i love part 0:10 its true dude, thanks. The Who is my favorite band of all times with Led zeppelin of course

  • My favorite all-time album and band . Here it is and here they are!!!!!!!! The original all-star-cast movie is great too! My first WHO concert was in 77' when Keith Moon was still alive, at the Garden in NYC. I've seen them 6 times as a band and a few times individually. Pete Townsend at Woodstock 98' solo five feet in front of me! Just incredible!! Was anyone at the Shea Stadium concert back in 82' I was up front just feet away at that incredible show too! Good times man..gooood times!!!

  • Don't foreget, rum pa pum pum.

    The little drummer boy.

  • Thank you, JasonBonitati, for puttin' this on.

  • Nice lyrics

  • the who is my favorit band 2 i lul them but it is such a shame the keith and john are gone

    May they rest in peace

  • Keith is the best drummer who ever lived.

John is the best bassist who ever lived.

    Period.

  • I agree

  • I think The Who might be the best band ever, them, and Zeppelin.

  • and pink floyd

  • Yeah! And you got Doors, Cream, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

  • Keith was awesome, but the greatest rock drummer is and has been for a long time is John Bonham of Led Zeppelin.

    Both gentlemen RIP!

  • you mean Ringo Starr

  • Absolutely!

  • Well, it is all subjective...but as a drummer, my personal favorite is Keith Moon. I can copy quite a few drummers...and Bonham is a very innovative and powerful drummer. but when I listen to some of Moonies stuff..i just go "wow" and dont even try to play his stuff.... its all good though

  • best ever is a preety tough thing to say

    John Bonham is great

and the talent of Paul Mcartney as hard to match. If your going with bass skill alone ill give it to John

  • entwhistle and mccartney are both genius with the bass. i put them even. also mccartney is a guitar and piano player extraordianare

  • this is our halftime show this year

  • same!

  • both different and awsome in their own ways ( the beach boys and the who)

  • yeah, but not the beach boys

  • Beach Boys are amazing, but they aren't really rock music haha. Surfin'.

  • @RayManzarekGod They are rock, it's just a different type of rock called Surf Music that became popular in the early 60's with songs like Walk Don't Run, and Surfin USA

  • @rocknrollfanatic96 Surf Rock... Isnt that what you would call it?

  • @RayManzarekGod Yes sir

  • @rocknrollfanatic96 Indeed and thank you for catching me on that my good man.

  • @RayManzarekGod

Haha, I like your profile name. I concur, that guy is the shittttttt!

  • @JasonBonitati Lol thanks dude. The Who and Doors rule man.

  • The Who....the greatest rock 'n roll band ever. There music embodies what rock 'n roll is and thats anti-establishment and youth and energy and f**k all. And its "meet the new boss same as the old boss." Pete Townsend and The Who. ROCK 'N ROLL!!!!

  • I used to play this album all summer long one year in Marshfield, and nobody could stand it after a while! They really got pissed off at it!

  • Wow- I'm sorry to hear that some didn't get as much out of this movie as I did. It was classic for its time. It opened alot of doors and was the first "mainstream" rock opera. There are alot of things out there now because this smashed open the doors for it. Granted it seems a little cheesy now, but that doesn't even matter-

  • Ótimo!!! Excelente!!! Uma grande idéia, Jason, postar esse áudio editado... de fato, uma grande abertura sinfônica, um grande momento do rock britânico!!!! Parabéns e um forte abraço!

  • sounds like the album Pet Sounds !! or it' s just my hears ...

  • Don't even try to compare this to Pet Sounds......... Pet Sounds is on a whole nother level.

  • Pet Sounds is not the same thing as The Who. Not in the same class.

  • How true!

  • great e.p movie sucked ass

  • It wasnt that bad

  • your right it was worse

  • To say the movie sucked ass is giving it too much credit. I can't believe Pete said "ok". What a fuckin travesty.

  • what exactly is it that tommy sees?

  • I think the story is that, Tommy sees the death of his father, I believe. His senses become dull because of the horrifying event and becomes 'deaf, dumb and blind' which is referenced in many if the songs off the album. I think that, Tommy gets sensations from music and comes out of his funk.

  • No, he sees a stranger(his father) kill his mother's lover. They tell him he "didn't see it, didn't hear it...you won't say nothing to no one ever, never tell a soul what you know is the truth." He takes this to a major extreme, becoming psychologically deaf, mute, and blind

  • Oh ok, yeah, I knew it was something like that. I've never seen the movie at all, so I guess I don't know the true whole story haha.

  • In the movie they've got his mother's lover kill his father and in the album his father kills the lover. So yeah, like most movies it gets twisted around a bit. The thing that snaps him out of it though is when his mother is tryin to talk to him and she gets frustrated and smashes a mirror and it heals him.

  • @JasonBonitati no no no... His dad is the guy in the uniform who walks in. The mother is with her lover and the lover kills Tommy's father (the man in uniform)

  • @P0RtalMan I think its his mother's lover ( who becomes his step father) kills his farther.

  • @P0RtalMan ...He's only blind, deaf and mute through psychosomatics. Not physically.

  • @P0RtalMan From the film? He saw his father figure kill his actual father, who was the complete stranger. It's more traumatic to have the person you grow up with believing is your father tell you "You didn't see it, didn't hear it".

  • @JasonBonitati

Well Tommy's father kills the mother's lover then they tell Tommy that he didn't hear it or see it so he comes be physiologically deaf dumb and blind
