I have a question, im about to buy a tablet online, at a price of 35 dollars its almost too good to be true, its like, a ctl 460 thing, i dont remember the brand,i know its NOT bamboo fun, and im worried that it wont come with a compatible drawing program, do all tablets COME with the program ? or its in a separate Disk i need to buy? i have gimp as well so im hoping my new tablet is compatiblw with it.what type of tablet do u have? and did it come with a drawing program?

I admire your patients with gimp. I hate sketching in gimp because it looks very pixelated. I use corel painter to do my sketches and i color in gimp.

I haven't read all the comments to this video, but in case no one has pointed this out, Gimp is pronounced with a hard "guh" sound rather than the soft "juh" sound. I understand that you have an accent, I'm simply pointing it out for future videos.

If i may ask you from a newbie to a pro, i don't have a Wacom Tablet but I've been learning how to draw on the computer. I'm ok not great but i need to know should i stop and wait for the Wacom tablet or keep using my Laptop.

Use the face of the character as a

scale. The usual size from the hand is from the chin to your forehead (just hold your hand on your face and you know what I mean).

Of course it depends on which character you wanna draw. A male has usually a bigger hand than a female. So you should also keep that in mind. The little space between each finger is also important.

But other than that: practice a lot. Draw an entire piece of paper with hands, until you get the feel for it. It`s tedious at points, but worth it. I hope, this could help you a bit, since explaining these things is not really my strength X)

Wow really cool drawing man, i found you through the related videos link on mark crilleys video. Im thinking of buying a tablet soon but ive heard from people that its really hard. ive always drawn and shaded on paper but as you know its always gonna look better with digital enhancements. ive tried to understand how u draw highlights without rubbing out your black lines as well. is there programs to rub out certain colours or...? any help would be nice on this matter anyways. good video again

I had some problems as well, as I started drawing with my Tablet. The only advise, that I can give is just practice (and a little pause once in a while).

About your question:

just add layers to your picture.

You can create them for the skin color, the hair color, the outlines etc.

But there is so much more to it.

I`ll do an extra video, where I explain the layer function and some more stuff, which can help you.

When it comes to drawing lines I had the same problem as well. You really need to get a feel for the Graphic Tablet. I don`t know if you use Gimp, but you can adjust the pencil form in the option menu.

Abou the coloring:

when you create a new layer for the colors,

select ´multiplication´ on the mode panel.

I think you should continue with the commentary. Its pretty rare. Most people, myself included, just add some music to it.

Danke! Ich hatte damals auch so meine Probleme damit.Dank einiger How to draw Bücher (u.a. von Carlsen und Tokyopop) hatte ich aber den Dreh irgendwann raus. Ich messe die Körperproportionen anhand der Größe des Kopfes aus (z.B. die komplette Hand = Gesichtsfläche, Unterarm = 1 1/2 Köpfe usw.). Je nach Geschlecht/Alter varriert das allerdings. Aber mit etwas Übung kann man das bald im Schlaf :)
