God, how thrilled I was when I first completed the game on the hard-difficulty (so with America and the Alien planet, no cheats!) One of my major achievements in my youth gaming period, along with completing Plok (hardvdiff) and Lemmings on the SNES.
I'm actually playing it right now, but since I use Pj64 V1.6, I can't get past section 3 in Greece where you need to get into a boathouse due to the clipping problem. :( Great game
That works? On N64 the "Door (is) closed".. I tried, just jump from a boat, dive with A I think, and try opening the temple door. You have to raise the land. Noticed how they put lots of shortcuts everywhere, like through bushes etc. I just completed the game with no humans harvested or killed! Took me 15 years. There are two places where bugs spawn on top of people, killing them, both in Java, stage 1 and 4 respectively. Blow up the 1. building, don't follow road on 2. wade through the water;-)
I'd much rather have this running properly on a good emulator than have to suffer through the N64's awful graphics again. Project 64 works pretty well except for this extremely buggy clipping problem.
I love my Xbox controller. I love the hi-res graphics potential of an emulator, and I *really* don't want to hook up my old-ass N64 to play this game properly again. I loved this game soooo much (especially Java and the amazing suicidal bombing run I had on one of the Processors).
This was one of the finest games I've ever played and that's from a 32 year old gamer, the game's scale was beyond massive and the fun they created with the use of countless vehicles and time travel was leaps ahead of its time, this game was the progenitor of the modern GTA. Body harvest deserves more recognition and accolades than it ever got and a remake or any form of revival is the least Rockstar-North (DMA design then) can do to do the game and the fans justice.
This game was amazing for its time, one of my fave games ever... it also gave me the funniest moment that ive had playing video game and that was when a door to a building was locked for a house, me trying to be creative thought it would ba good idea to use T.N.T. to open the door... i set the charge, made some room for the boom and when i went back there was no building just a crater! hah
I used to play this game like 8 years ago, when I couldnt get past a thing I would swim across the sea, inputting the health cheatcode to regain my health, I honestly did it so many times it was muscle memory lol
@JimLad800 Yea but it was miles to big for me so i couldent wear it lol, cant remember what shop i got the game from, possibly electronics boutique or game, they gave out shirts to promote the game when it came out for a while.

Great video. The color scheme they used for making this video game is the same that was used for the movie "Hook"'s imaginary food with Robin Williams.
Great video. You should have a disclaimer though: this video is more fun than the game itself is in reality. I don't see any footage of drowning in 6 inches of water or any tributes to losing an hour or more of progress with every death.
Great video. You should have a disclaimer though: this video is more fun than the game itself is in reality. I don't see any footage of drowning in 6 inches of water or any tribute to losing an hour or more of progress with every death.
@liveswired Yeah,I love how many tributes you found the the PS2 GTA games,GTA SA even had the body harvest level, you even used the combine harvester :)
@Psymonized I used to land it where the processor appears after you use the rocket, it didnt kill the processor but it made it float above a 40ft crator xD
one of the best video games for N64, hell with Mario or Golden Eye. This game is the father to Grand Theft Auto and all other sandbox games out there.
The graphics may not have been that great even at the time but the game had amazing music and sound. It had an atmosphere like no other. Man I loved that game...
Finally i found it!!, i used to think i played a samus game, like kind of metroid shit, i was a child and i never know what to do in this game, also i never play this game alone, it has something that scare me. good memories :)
@JimLad800 But the "super weapons" are lovely. Rifle rounds that explode buildings, a gun called "starburst", those huge jumping freaks with cannons that jump at you and shoot you...follow you everywhere. Priceless.
Once I learn how to create a game, I would want to totally remake this with upgraded graphics, gameplay and another story line and maybe multiplayer. I'd remake this without anyones concent...heheee..

all i remember of this game was like the first level and how can get in vehicles when was little kid then a while ago i remembered picturing it in my head and thinking wtf was the name of that game?!.... lol thanks to youtube now i remember clearly.

BEST GAME EVER NO DOUBT. so many things you can do and drive. the maps are huge, there are like 6 worlds. and has a good story. i dont know anybody whos ever beaten it B/C it is such a long game and really challenging. too bad i lost mine :( :( :(
@M1XART Player freedom and un-nannied discovery of new things, at least that's my view.
What makes Body Harvest great is you are pretty much on your own to discover how to get to where you need to go. And because save points are few and far between it makes you that much more cautious when huge monsters are spawning in at random points. ALSO, the whole saving humanity from harvesters mechanic ensures you can't just run and hide, and have to face the aliens.
@JimLad800 yeah i just wish i could find a rom of this that worked since my N64 died... if anyone knows of one let me know! i want to do a playthrough of this REALLY bad!
HAHAHA I was just telling my girl about how i used to play this game when i was a kid and how much i loved it. i still have it so i think im going to play it once again. For those of you who have never played this game, do yourself a favor and play it. You won't be dissapointed.
Aaahh, Body Harvest...Bad graphics...bad sound...bad controls...super glitchy and sometimes almost unplayable. I LOVE BODY HARVEST!!! Easily one of the best games ever. I'm nearly through with Java (again).

Also, LOL at the ending. Nice use of that country song from GTA1.
In order for that to happen A. we send them a damn petition with over 1 million signatures or b... grand theft auto would have to fall hard on its ass.. then they may feel like grabbing into the bucket of old copyrights
I would so love this game to be remade or have a sequel in next-gen, if they could make this masterpiece back in 1998, imagine what they could do now. It'd be the best game ever (literally)!
I agree.but you know they would end up screwing it all up.But if someone did it right it would be amazing, and cant be called a copy because this was on of the first free roam sandbox games.
Damn i use to love this game but it was rly hard..Never made it thru the end.The whole world u can roam seemed endless..U never knew what you will find next..I remember flyin a plane around and i had to shoot these things that shot out electricity
I forgot how bitchin' this game is. And also how hard, but I'm gonna pick this up again(At least for the first three levels, this is a serious title).
Its looks like Gta san andreas with much more vechiles .Its created by dma design first name of Rocstar north company. sssssssssooooooo gggggggoooooooodddddd
i know that level is waaaaaay to hard!!!there are to many cliffs!and if you fall of them your fucked because theres mostly water surounding you and you cant swim or youll die.and if you die you respawn all the way to the begining of the level,or your last checkpoint but there are only like 4 per level!definetely the hardest level in the whole game.
It is a total bitch to do isn't it? Is that the one where you get the plane to save the refugees? I never completed that level, only managed to tear my hair out!!!
No, the end of the first era you go to in 1917 or whenever, where you have to go the the airfield and get the 'Sapworth'. I always have a harvester wave and it is game over before the end of that. How do I stop this?
This was The first Gta 3 but for the N64 lol This is one of my favorites though. This game was very unique and challenging I love it so much I bought It off Ebay a couple of days ago.
Goddamn I miss this game. I think it was the third one I owned, after Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Goldeneye.

I forgot how bitchin' this game is. And also how hard, but I'm gonna pick this up again(At least for the first three levels, this is a serious title).

you make some great tributes, I have this game, I got stuck on the second level of Java, and I stayed there for years, but I get to the end, finaly!
blackbox64 2 years ago 3
i know that level is waaaaaay to hard!!!there are to many cliffs!and if you fall of them your fucked because theres mostly water surounding you and you cant swim or youll die.and if you die you respawn all the way to the begining of the level,or your last checkpoint but there are only like 4 per level!definetely the hardest level in the whole game.

It is a total bitch to do isn't it? Is that the one where you get the plane to save the refugees? I never completed that level, only managed to tear my hair out!!!
cotmullion 2 years ago
Oh, I think you mean Siberia, its all grey, In Java and you have to "Brighten" up the weather!
blackbox64 2 years ago
No, the end of the first era you go to in 1917 or whenever, where you have to go the the airfield and get the 'Sapworth'. I always have a harvester wave and it is game over before the end of that. How do I stop this?

I need to play this game again...
blackbox64 2 years ago 2
sorry for the late response, no its not the one,but Java does have you save a bunch of refugees in a boat though.
