  • @greenvikings: What's happening with your photos is that not enough light is getting to your sensor. What you can do is either drop your shutter speed, lower your f/number, or raise your ISO... Or a combination of all three..............

Or the lens cap could still be on.

  • if i want to shoot at 1/2000s in bright daylight, do i have to set the iso up? because in daylight i am pretty shure it will overexpose at 3200 or 6400 wont it?

  • dig your t shirt :)

  • so the higher the iso, the longer the shutter speed?

  • what is a good lens to have besides the one that came with my D3100?

  • Where can i get some of the best Canon photography tips from?

  • I do agree that lenses that are f/2.8 are better overall, it's just too expensive as always. lenses with like f/4.5-f/5.6 does require more ISO in order to bring more light in to compensate for that. But also your camera body can depend on this situation too. If you have a low-light god like the D700 or the D3S DSLR's you can live with those f/4.5-5/6, but the camera body alone will cost a lot. So in the end it is better to get faster lenses, and a cheap body.

  • i just recently got a nikon d5100..bought it yesterday..your videos are really very informative and helpful...:D

  • @halaiunderstandwooh thank you.

  • what lens is in his camera he is holding?

  • @seoulologyy I'm guessing a 50mm?

  • This ... is great. The fro rocks.

  • love the fro

  • thumbs up if noticed the smurf at the end, only because he mentioned it.

  • thanks for tutorial ;)

  • is it better just keeping it the same? does ISAO have auto if so is that better?

  • How true, lenses that are F2,8 or better.. keep the ISO down. Making you allot more happy with the actual results, After all high iso, much noise.. lower possible printouts.. flat images. That is why I feel that those superzooms with at top F6,3...those hurt.

  • This video really helped me out!

Even though I'm using a limited bridge camera (L110) I want to improve my motion photography. I will hopefully get the D3100 soon!

  • This is my first video I'm watching from Fro Knows Photo...It will not be the last (just subscribed). Great explanation of ISO, sir! Thanks!

  • what's your face book, hit me @flexeffz.....you the shit if you can call me because i'm not a typest. Lol!

  • Jared I have one question... In my D3000 how can i make to put my iso on 600 or 640 like the camera does when the iso is in auto?

  • @luchonex This camera to the best of my knowledge does not allow us to do 1/3 stop increments!!! Just 200-400-800-1600-3200

  • lol my smurf. Thanks for the advice man...definately going to invest in better glass and get out of my kit lens

  • Did you see my thread I created in the beginners section on your forum? I have the same user name on there as I do on here. I was wondering how you would use a faster shutter speed while keeping the subject bright enough. Raising the ISO to account for the increased shutter speed answered my question thanks!

  • Love you videos. I'm going to show them to my friend.

  • Jared is right..the 2.8 lenses are great. I bought cheap equipment at the beginning and regret it. Now Im selling and taking a loss when I should have just bought better gear to begin with. You live and you learn!

  • Jared what do use to record your vids and what do you use to edit them?

  • ahhh yes the exposure triangle

  • Flies ¬¬ haha!

Thank you very much for this video. I think is really helpful.

I have the d3000, and I will recieve a 35mm f1.8 next tuesday. So I hope enjoy it a lot.

  • thanks jared.

  • I would miss so many good indoor shots if I didn't have my 50mm, it rarely comes off my camera! Great explaination!

  • @stinamarie122702 glad it helped, did you get to read the article I wrote about ISO and why better lenses make your life easier?
