  • @bolder2009 oh boohoo. Hey, don't get me wrong, the dude was talented as fuck but you must admit he basically shit it away. Like Morrison, Hendrix, Joplin, Cobain. I guess you are well within your right to indulge in your little fantasy, that going from being hugely successful, to becoming a drug addict, a thief, then broke & living in the very same fathers house that treated him so bad is the status of a successful musician..hey hey, more power to ya. So abused but when he had nowhere to go...

  • @gwynethgodxperiment Forget about about a person's personal life. You're not perfect or anyone else walking on this planet so who are you to judge....Phenomenal talent he was.

  • Is this taken from Trouble Man documentary? When Marvin stayed in Ostend Belgium with his friend in 1980 - 81, in order to clean himself up. Unfortunately, he went back to the US to promote Sexual Healing, the rest is history.

  • @agfagaevart He intended to stay in Europe. He only returned back to the states because his mother was ill. He moved back into the home he bought for her, which is also where his father lived. There relationship was always strained, and it seems fate had positioned them on a collision course from the day he was born. Once the success of the single and Midnight Love album took off, all the old habbits resurfaced. The demons that he had battled against for years finally won the war.

  • @agfagaevart Had he stayed in Europe he may still have fallen off the wagon again, but we'll never know. While the success of his last album returned him to commercial relevance it also led him back to old vices he had left behind. It's been said by some of the staff who were on the 1983 North American tour, that the amount of cocaine that was consumed on the road was unprecedented even by the standards of Rock 'N' Roll excess. Some who were close to him say that he wanted out.

  • @agfagaevart If you're interested, I'd recommend you read 'Howling At The Moon' by Walter Yetnikoff who was the head of CBS records at the time. There is a passage in the book where he recounts an experience he had with Marvin Gaye during the height of the success of SH. Its interesting to say the least. And if you haven't already read 'Divided Soul' by David Ritz (which began as a collaboratve autobiography with Marvin Gaye before he died), then I highly recommend it.

  • WOWW, I JUST NOTICED THAT THAT WAS DEON ESTUS! I LOVE HIS SONG HEAVEN HELP ME FT. GEORGE MICHAEL! ;-) -LIONESS/GODDESS-

  • Sweet thoughts is all I have when I hear him!

  • He was and still the sugar in this music industry!

  • Laying down on a couch, singing in perfect pitch, and with more passion and feeling than anyone could imagine. That was the genius of Marvin Gaye.

  • "We're talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about practice. I know I'm supposed to be there. I know I'm supposed to lead by example . . . I know it's important . . . I honestly do. But we're talking about practice, man. What are we talking about? Practice?"

    -Allen Iverson

Marvin's practice is better than a lot of people's best RIP

  • #1 soul brotha tha brotha could sing like this in his sleep

  • Putin it down

  • This is THE dopest thing i've seen of any live performer. Laying down?!? This is just rediculous.

  • @sugacookiegetta Yea...how many people can lie down and sing like this. Marvin was one bad brother.

  • This is a time when making good "music" was the focus...Look at the intensity, the passion...this ain't a keyboard just producing sounds, and punch in's...I miss real music

  • I cried for weeks when he died, and I`m a guy! I mis him sooo much. rip my friend.

  • SOOOOO cool

  • Just FYI...It's Deon Estus on bass and after Marvin he went on to be the 3rd member of Wham and then continued to play with George in his solo career. Go listen to Deon's song "Heaven Help Me" which came out in 1989. Deon has also got a new single called "Only Love Is Real" check him out and get hip!!!! Peace.

  • Laying down on a couch, achieving perfection.

    Only Marvin.

  • I still smile and say WOW every time I see this amzing piece of film. Marvin's got perfect pitch, just lying down SO casually, while he's practicing in rehersal. Who can top that??!

  • So many have learned from this great artist/poet on wht it takes to make music with so much feel in and emotion tht it puts u in whatever feeling tht the artist wants......true master of music Marvin!

  • @adamkhel77 ...I know, I know, I know!

  • @SPTO ...I caught that too. Man he was bad!

  • @mrmiykael That is not Rick James...

  • @solaidback21 rick james played the bass guitar for quite a few of the greats. look hard, you'll see that's young rick james. he just looks young and healthy.

  • @mrmiykael This is durning Marvin's comeback in early 80's, this either just before or right after Marvin left Motown and signed with CBS. Rick was the star at Motown at this time and you couldn't get him to do back up for anybodu. At this point he was " Rick James Biatch" lol...IS50 has the musicians listed under show more the bass player is Deon Estus.

  • @solaidback21 if im wrong im definitely right when i say this is a helluva jam session. r.i.p 2 the true king of r and b. peace brotha slb.
