Awesome movie, screw the haters in the butt for that. I think it's a fantastic movie and seeing it 12 times in theaters made me have hope for film. It's more than Dances with Wolves in space folks, has anyone ever seen the 2 excellent adult animated movies from Japan known as Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds? It was all visuals not much good storytelling, it was the exactly the same as Dances With Wolves and the dialogue was terrible. Some of the actors did good in there roles but Jake Sully's character was so dull but he did better in this role than in Clash of the Titans but I still prefered him in Terminator 4. James Cameron is a good director just a horrible storyteller.

I saw this movie and am still confused about one part so if anyone else who'd seen these can help that'd be great. Many people (such as myself ) give it a bad review because we see movies as more than simply eye candy/special effects. Special effects are just one piece of a film, like maybe 10% of it. There are other things that are more or just as important, such as a good script/story, good acting, good dialogue, suspense, etc. This film has some impressive visuals, but that's all. Anyone over the age of 10 could predict where the story was headed, and the acting was very poor.
Before i say anything im not trying to start any kind of argument.. But people like you see things so Linear its unreal.. Acting was good, for acters and actresses that are undiscovered talent.. The fact you consentrated on these aspects and not taking into consideration the beauty of the film.. How it conveys , anger , peace sympathy and Love .. this film was more than visual effects.. it was an Experience.. that i know i wont be forgetting in a a Hurry (thanks for your oppinion though)
I just didn't see or feel any of those emotions during the movie (anger, peace, sympathy, love, etc.) I wanted to feel a connection with the characters, but it was just a 3 hour long cartoon with really tall blue Smurfs flying around on dragons. This movie's plot could have easily been the same plot for a movie about He-Man or the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It's a movie for 8 year olds who love bright colors, loud sounds, and things that don't make any sense.
You are a person, it seems to me, who needs to be fed a story on a plate. Yes it is totally predictable, so what? To me a good film isn't just a film that is unpredictable, what sort of criteria is that? Life is completely fucking predictable, people with complex emotions and thoughts are completely fucking predictable. This film is like a more immersive version of Princess Mononoke, which ranks at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. People just want to hate a film that costs alot.
Dickens is predictable, Henry James is predictable, Shakespeare is fucking predictable and every emotion is completely 2D. It doesn't matter because they told damn good stories. A good story is something you relate to, not because you can't predict it but because you can, because you feel like you're there yourself. I think a lot of people want to be a Na'vi right now, when it feels like everything is falling down the shitter. People can relate to that. Maybe fantasy just isn't for you.
I feel sorry for myself as well. I should be able to see the beauty and emotions in a great movie like this. I mean the Muppet and Sesame Street movies are all about the beautiful depths of friendship and human bonds. Just because a movie makes a ton of money doesn't make it good. It just means that the same pre-teens and teens saw it multiple times. New Moon also made a ton of money because teenage girls like hunky guys who are secretly vampires. It's still all crap.

This movie was amazing. I have to say, Jake was sexy as an avatar...lol. This was the best freaking movie I could ever see. The most important thing to love this movie is imagination. It also describes our world...alot.

I saw this movie and am still confused about one part so if anyone else who'd seen these can help that'd be great. So while he's in his avatar body his human body is sleeping right? and when he's in his human body his avatar body is sleeping? so is he consious 24/7? because that has to drive a person mad even if your body isn't tired you mind must get exhausted.

Many people (such as myself ) give it a bad review because we see movies as more than simply eye candy/special effects. Special effects are just one piece of a film, like maybe 10% of it. There are other things that are more or just as important, such as a good script/story, good acting, good dialogue, suspense, etc. This film has some impressive visuals, but that's all. Anyone over the age of 10 could predict where the story was headed, and the acting was very poor.

Before i say anything im not trying to start any kind of argument.. But people like you see things so Linear its unreal.. Acting was good, for acters and actresses that are undiscovered talent.. The fact you consentrated on these aspects and not taking into consideration the beauty of the film.. How it conveys , anger , peace sympathy and Love .. this film was more than visual effects.. it was an Experience.. that i know i wont be forgetting in a a Hurry (thanks for your oppinion though)

I just didn't see or feel any of those emotions during the movie (anger, peace, sympathy, love, etc.) I wanted to feel a connection with the characters, but it was just a 3 hour long cartoon with really tall blue Smurfs flying around on dragons. This movie's plot could have easily been the same plot for a movie about He-Man or the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It's a movie for 8 year olds who love bright colors, loud sounds, and things that don't make any sense.

You are a person, it seems to me, who needs to be fed a story on a plate. Yes it is totally predictable, so what? To me a good film isn't just a film that is unpredictable, what sort of criteria is that? Life is completely fucking predictable, people with complex emotions and thoughts are completely fucking predictable. This film is like a more immersive version of Princess Mononoke, which ranks at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. People just want to hate a film that costs alot.

Dickens is predictable, Henry James is predictable, Shakespeare is fucking predictable and every emotion is completely 2D. It doesn't matter because they told damn good stories. A good story is something you relate to, not because you can't predict it but because you can, because you feel like you're there yourself. I think a lot of people want to be a Na'vi right now, when it feels like everything is falling down the shitter. People can relate to that. Maybe fantasy just isn't for you.

I feel sorry for myself as well. I should be able to see the beauty and emotions in a great movie like this. I mean the Muppet and Sesame Street movies are all about the beautiful depths of friendship and human bonds. Just because a movie makes a ton of money doesn't make it good. It just means that the same pre-teens and teens saw it multiple times. New Moon also made a ton of money because teenage girls like hunky guys who are secretly vampires. It's still all crap.

I just thought it was and is the best film Ive ever seen to date .. but like i said I watched it for more than just acting and plots.. never the less i found it to be a film that after it.. i felt alot happier in myself for some reason =) but your oppinion is quite fitting aswell in some respects.
