what ever happened to DDT which has wiped out malaria in the western world? are they going to lift the hysterical-ban? or is that in direct conflict with the environmental (population reduction) agenda?
@pwiattitto, good question! Whatever happended to DDT?.
Rachel Carson's book Silent Spring detailed the alleged "dangers" of DDT, which had practically eliminated malaria. Within ten years, the environmentalist movement had convinced the powers that be to outlaw DDT. Denied the use of DDT, millions of people -- mostly poor Africans -- have died.
Her admirers at the U.N. and environmental groups have managed to bring malaria and typhus back to sub-Saharan Africa with a vengeance.
In defense of Logtype47, the accurate name for the pesticide on the latest mosquito nets is Deltamethrin. Google it and you will discover that it is a known neurotoxin. These nets are washed in rivers, handled often, and it is likely for small children to put them in their mouths.
Keep in mind that these nets are highly toxic to fish as well. Here is your homework: Locate an independent study demonstrating safe, long-term household use of this product, and this issue will be laid to rest.
I am told these nets are saturated with enough chemical pesticides to last 5 years. Does anyone have any thoughts on this???
If I made a quilt and dunked in a bath of RAID would you sleep in it. Probably not. It would be fair to question the ethics of a charity that promotes a product that may possibly be unsafe to the user.
"Currently, nets are treated with pyrethroid insecticides. These insecticides have very low levels of toxicity to humans, but are highly toxic to insects." This is from the Nothing But Nets website.
And the people are not sleeping directly on nor constantly touching the nets, so it is highly unlikely that this would be unsafe in any way.
Does anyone have any research on the side-effects of sleeping / breathing / touching nets that are treated with heavy pesticides over a 5 year period.
Perhaps I am confused. This charity, NothingButNets has partnered with Ted Turner's United Nations Foundation. Ted Turner has expressed quite openly that he is working tirelessly to control/reduce population. In 2008 he commented on Charlie Rose "We have too many people using too much stuff". Why then does Turner contribute vast resources to preserve the lives of people in the poorest nations on earth.
We HAD DDT! It almost eradicated malaria!
But some do-gooder, ehem,
Rachel Carson wrote a book that caused panic over DDT. Thanks to no DDT, about one million dead a year in Africa alone.

His agenda requires further examination.
