  • You go brother!

  • Randyds5*

  • Randy555, solid xing yi. If you don't mind, may I ask who was/is your teacher?

  • I love your moment, you seem to excel at the the stuff I haven't been shown. How much San Ti do you do? It can generate a lot of force when done with the internal element. I have been learning Xing Yi only 7 mouths or so and I am still only scratching the power of San Ti. One student who has been doing it for about 3 years now I used to train with in another style previously and in 3 years he has quadrupled his force minimum almost all we do is standing and application.

  • @Monkeylover1982andab Thank you so much for your kind words. Well, I have alot of health issues and old injuries from fighting. On a bad day...I hold santi for about 5-10 minutes on each side when my body feels crappy. On a good day, when I feel great, I do 20 minutes. Personally, I think Santi training longer than that is overrated. I work 40 hours a week, and I like to spend time doing self-defense. So, It just depends on what your goals are. But,santi is quite useful training tool for power

  • This is the first time I have seen xing yi used for take downs. Very interesting. I can see that this would blend well with my ju jitsu...

  • I've been wondering, is Xing Yi- quan a full-contact martial art in practice?

  • @Carmine0808 Depends on the person. I know people who practice taichi full-contact. I know some people who practice boxing and dont spar. Depends on the person

  • oh i was looking for yi quan dao theres too many stiles of kung fu

  • WOW I have this same form, with slight differences, I know It simply as Hsing yi. Shi er Xing, means 12 forms in chinese. makes sense. Shou yu liang?

  • @jeff61177 yep, shou-yu liang

  • Looking good, man.

  • thank you sir

  • This looks like M. Hai Yang's HeBei style. (Quebec, Canada). Take a look at his YouTube videos. (whatsyournameya) You'll see the similarities. Great Horse and Eagle. This is the result of dedication to Hsing-i (Xing-yi) and many, many hours of practice.

  • It looks nothing like Yang Hai's xingyi. Totally different emphasis in the upper and lower body posture plus different movements. Its good though and its a biiiig improvement over the old videos posted by this user. Congrats Randy, you have real force and good whole body connection :D

  • yeah, I never studied with Yang Hai. I studied with a disciple of Grandmaster Shou-yu liang. And I agree, my old videos sucked so bad! ive improved dramatically. its because , my old teacher taught me "fake" xing yi. Now im training with the real deal. Thank you my friend

  • no prob. One very small suggestion I have is that in your eagle/bear form you need to sink a little more. In the eagle posture (where you are drilling, just before overturning) when your back heal is off the ground, try not to rise up quite as high since it pulls you out of your root and takes away from your sinking force. Its not a big thing, but it will certainly help your practice. (and of course take this with a big bag of salt since my own practice is pretty far from perfect :D

  • yeah your actually right, thanks. Im not making excuses for myself, but my body is chopped full of injuries, so squating down hurts me alot. haha, I hide it well, but I used to be a sanda fighter and Kyokushin fighter. But, ill keep trying to strengthen myself

  • I always learn something from your videos. I miss training with you...keep up the good work Randy...

  • thanks, your welcome to come by and train anytime. I welcome all students, whether you want to train as a permanent student, or cross-train

  • Nice as always!

  • thank you sir

  • Oh right on. I think I know the form your are talking about. I think its demoed in his and Yang Jwing-Mings book. Well its a nice form man, you execute it well. Your coiling is real nce. I'll get that vid up soon haha.

  • If ur ever on the east coast, we should exchange ideas, and train together.

  • Definatelly. At some point, im gonna be living in new york for a month to train with the guys out there. Hopefully I'll be able to make a stop by your place afterwords.

  • Always a class act.

  • thank you my friend.

  • Your drill where you just threw straights and he countered with straight hsing yi gave me some nice ideas. I just got a good video camera so I'll put some of my stuff up soon. Your form was on point too. Whats the name of the form you did in the begining?

  • i look foreward to it. And thanks again. well.....these are only basic drills. I cant show off all my secrets. >:) . muwahwha.

  • the name of the form at the beginning is simplu called "Xingyiquan". It was created by shou-yu liangs xing yi master. It blends some of the 12 animals, 5 fists, and miscellaneous strikes all together.
