@maxflower13 Yes, I read that Vivien had a nervous breakdown while filming, I'm sure the idea of running with elephants didn't help with her mental condition to begin with.
I've been waiting for TCM to show the film, I've never seen it. It's not even available in their DVD order catalog. Do you know where I can see it?
Who doesn’t love a good Elephants Stamped through the house, Kerosene, and poor Liz running for her life?! Ha, Lots of fun! Wish you had posted the house fully engulfed in flames & climbing out the window to safety.
This film was made by La Liz in 1953, and it had it's moments. Yeah, she was her usual gorgeous self, and she had not yet entered her golden period of Oscar nominations, but actually, my favorite part of this movie is the last fifteen minutes, where the elephants go bananas and go stomping through the house. Quite a fun sequence. Very recently Taylor said that she was in no danger whatsoever, since the shots were superimposed.
I'm really impressed with her beauty and nerve to run around those elephants.

@Composer28 I've heard that some of the long shots were of Vivian Leigh , whom Liz replaced in the role .

@Composer28 as you can probably tell, I watched it on an old CRT on a VHS from the library .

Personally, I've always preferred the mid '60's redo of this...Beach Blanket Congo.
Though how they ever got rogue elephants to do The Frug, I'll NEVER know!
