Having been a pianist while I was growing up (sadly, no more), I couldn't help but notice the subtle thud of the sustain pedal. For some reason that subtle sound just adds so much depth to an already beautiful piece.
his is my favorite piece of music of all time.. it reminds me of good times.. it reminds me of bad times.. and in whatever situation i am, it always makes me feel free and clear.
ive been listening to this for more than a year and i sill havent got tired of this music so yeah that says it all how good this is.. bid fan of Tomas and Amanita Design
In a world where there is no humans, hearing such beautiful musics make me think of Saya no Uta's OST (there are one or two tracks in the OST that would fit Machinarium I think)
Plus the fact that you hear this soundtrack in one of the only places of the whole game with vegetation, and Saya is often depicted with plants around her (or at least, in Fuminori's dellusions)
I Googled Saya no Uta, and found out it was a visual novel. So i downloaded it and read it in English... Probably some of the most fucked strange horror i have ever read/seen. Strange, really strange. I'm still not sure what to think now.
I liked it, and yes, some of Saya no Uta's soundtrack actually could fit in. I wouldn't say the other way around, that would be a shame, but i get your point..
Wow, I made someone play it by posting a comment on youtube !? Achievement Unlocked I guess.
And yeah, when I played it for the first time, I spent one week without internet and figuratively crouched on my bed in foetal position, trying to understand pointless stuff like the "what was the real ending" or "how could all this have been avoided". What's important is the meaning behind the game.
Also the poor Saya never spent time with normal human people to learn how to interact.
If I hadn't already purchased the game, and listened obsessively to the soundtrack, this is the song that would make me do so. There is something so touching and melancholy about this, it makes you slow down to try to grasp the meaning that is hidden in the melody. Thank you for posting :~)
my favorite track along with a close 2º "by the wall" - this glasshouse makes me cry... i stay put in the game just to listen to the music and watch the butterfly... i come to the glasshouse to relax and think back my walktrough and whereabouts! soooooo beautiful this game and music - i bought 2 licences for this game: one for windows version and other for my recent mac - thats how bad i wanted to play the game all over again! short but sweet game well spent!
I picture myself laying in a vast, open, grassy field on a sunny day, clear sky with a nice gentle, cool breeze and big white, puffy/fluffy clouds passing over. I'd just lie there, time has no importance. I would watch the clouds move and take different shapes. I would see it as "my home away from home."
@plzletmego87 Shivers up my spine, thought the same. Amanita Design is so amazing, Machinarium is such a good game and reminds me of the childhood. Just brilliant.
@locksh Yep, exactly. You really hit the nail on the head when you mentioned childhood. I really want to play this game. I was saying if the music is this good, the game itself must be amazing!
Nonetheless, it just nice to know that there is someone out there who feels where I am coming from =D
And I can tell you why I think it reminds us the childhood, at least at my case -
There are two games - Samorost and Samorost 2 (not quite sure about the name though) and I once remembered those games but couldn't remember the names. When I saw Machinarium on the app store (iPad 2) I decided to buy it because it was nostalgic as hell for some reason. I will never regret the confirmation of the buying, best game iv'e ever played. I hear the soundtracks and almost tear up.
@locksh I guess that makes two of us. That's some pretty deep stuff; what you wrote. I wish life itself could be like this music. I feel almost as if I am taken to a better place. A time and place where things are.....simpler. The nostaliga is perfect and I can't seem to help that you can also relate to such a place when listening to this music. I can tell from in your writing how you are to such a degree.
@plzletmego87 There is a strange type of nostalgia that appears in places you didn't meet before. Happened to me in this game. I played Samorost and Samorost 2 but I still find Machinarium extremely nostalgic or just very sad (dunno) related or not related to both of these games. I just feel like I am experiencing the feeling of another lonely person in another time in another place, too hard to describe. This peaceful nostalgy.
@locksh It is a very rare thing to have two people who don't even know each other express their opinions now-a-days (especially on YouTube) without getting into some stupid argument. I have to thank you for that!
It feels like I'm in the sea, or in the sky, soaring around through the clouds/ the waves. And when the soundtrack reaches its climax, at 2:09, it feels like I'm falling throught the sky in a wonderful dream... Ah, love it.. *-*
I got mine for free 5 mins ago. The most anxious download ever. You have to give the people credit for making this piece of art... I almost feel sorry for not buying the soundtrack. Almost. But the whole soundtrack is juust.......too awesome.. beautiful....
This game really took me by surprise... it was such a shock to my system to see such a beautiful and almost completely flawless game that captured my imagination. And to hear all the music within that game was truly a blessing
I wish the puzzles on this level were a lot harder because I just wanted to listen to this track over and over and over again. Once I opened that hatch, I let the track play a few more times before moving on.
I bought Machinarium through Amanita's holiday sale: Machinarium + Samorost + both soundtracks for $12,10. Fantastic deal, great value for money!
This one's my favorite from the soundtrack. What type/kind of music is it actually? Would like to find more of this kind of music; very relaxing when reading, etc...
@pioerghaozprhgorueir the genre is ambient / chillout. its a fantastic genre and Tomas Dvorak is one of the best composers ive heard after playing this game !

it is already out, but what pisses me off is that it's on some flash distributor site, and you're forced to create an account with them before purchasing the soundtrack. I really don't like the idea of having to sign up just to buy one soundtrack. However, if you have the steam version of the game you can access the music from the "11" directory just change all the weird number extensions to .mp3
google it to find beyond the 5 tracks distributed - a P2P site will get you those dozen tracks floating toward you! ...a TORRENT of tracks actually ;)
@soundzen :s It's only 3.99 pounds or 8 dollars Cdn to get the track off of the website Amanita is selling it off. Compared to most other soundtracks it's a steal. >< Plus the game was so good and so is the soundtrack, I'd say it's worth the money I'm paying for it. Just my opinion.

Just like in music, games know a mainstream of dull games like CoD & the likes. Machinarium kicks both the game & music mainstream in the nuts.
Bless this game, & give us a sequel! To make both gaming & music scene a better place!
