The standing ovations for Benjamin Netanyahu are not quite as bad, because it does not reflect what Congressman will do on their own accord. Being polite, especially on camera, in a group setting, is different than agreeing with someone. Netanyahu wants America to go to war with Iran, but such an agenda conflicts greatly with Republicans desire to not raise taxes, and to cut spending. They are MORE devoted to THAT, than to doing everything Israel wants.

Israel wants guns to be banned in the USA, and to ban free speech, critical of Israel, or holocaust revisionism. But in order to do that, the "hate crimes laws" have to be advanced, and Christians object to this very strongly. The Republicans in Congress are NOT doing what Israel wants.
Rand Paul said that America should NOT give that $ 4 billion to Israel, but I am sure he joined others in clapping for Netanyahu ---- it is just a meaningless gesture of politeness.

Hmm, a lot of that money goes to research you know. When I was getting my masters degree at Columbia in Eco and Geochem I did an internship at an Israeli plant which supplies many poor nations with cheap water filtration systems. I was incredibly surprised how effectively they use their money in terms of research.
Either way, not really supporting Israel here. But just saying they do a lot research and development with that money. Which helps a lot of people in the world.
