Crysis was a 2 thread game. How's it going to benefit from a quad core? I see now why Intel paid them to put "plays great on Core2extreme" on the splash screen.
I have an Q9550 and it runs EXACTLY the same as it did on an E8440 that I used to have.
Crytek are full of hot air. Just look at Crysis 2 now on PC, what a joke.
EA really, really likes to export jobs to London, Frankfurt, Scotland and more. Lame. No wonder their titles are stretched thin. The video even starts with some idiot saying "We want to reach the widest range of players possible" Liar, Crysis won't run on anything other than a machine primed SPECIFICALLY for Crysis.
So? Get a fucking job, save your money and build a machine that will run it. Quit your bitching, PC gamers only get badass games like this once in a blue moon.
now tech you have no problem maxing this game out and you do not need a qaud or extreme processor.the game is bearley optimised for duo-cores,really.i mean you tweak the system config to have crysis or any game to run a little better for that certain amount of cores you have to releive some strees off of other things.i have a e8400@3.73ghz,7.5 mutiplier,500/2000fsb
and a 4870 and pull out nice framrates out of the game at very high making it very playable.only rts atm take advantage of 2 or mor
My processors and motherboards are 31/2 yrs old and i still use it to play games like this and use my animation software (3ds max 2009/maya 2009) without any problems. The major things are for games like this are mainly Ram and graphics cards. 3d studio max is used to make Crysis)
Workstation graphics cards are betteR
(ATI FIREGL/FIREPRO and Nvidia QUADRO FX)
They are better than (geforces or radeons by far.)
I use a an opteron motherboard with xp pro, that supports DDR1 ram. I use 6gb or ram with 2 X amd opteron 275 processors(2mb cache each) using workstation graphics cards
Workstation graphics cards are the best because they use this cards to design this game at high resolution. Games, if you do not know , the original graphics are brought down to make loading time for the game engine acceptable.
believe me when is say this I am a computer animation graduate- stick to xeon and opteron processors. they handle games like this even with rams at minimum of 2gb with xp as well.
I bought crysis special edition back 1997 on ebay. That is were you would find that edition most likely.
ill tell you a little secret about coding games and java apps dude, a processor CANT FETCH data faster than the storage can give it and the speed at which storage gives a cpu data is measured by its random access reads and writes speed. A 4 ms random write/seek provides only 250 requests (fetches) per second, wich means your 3GHZ quad core isn't working faster than 250 HZ, most drives do 12ms read write, so a pc runs around 100HZ
2 AND 3 GHZ chips are overkill,unless you have like a ramsan300
agreed, high performance desktop cpus are overkill for any computer tasks, and wasted money, + they overheat / cause instability cost up to 250$ extra a year in power drainage
/ bad for the environment / cpu microwaves elevate body and room temperature /need cooling fans as noisy as hair dryers, they just suck. why cant they just make atom processors for the desktop for fucks sake
the only progress AND BETTERMENT desktop cpus can make from now on is in the energy efficiency department for example a 10w TDP, 3 GHZ, desktop cpu would be a revolutionary breakthrough or 4 distinct *small form factor* low voltage oscillator clocks in a one 775 socket chip that parallel processes and only consumes 1 watt, such as the via Eden .
mtron ssd drive aside, you can only get performance from processors if they run parallel on 4 sockets, like on tyan boards, cpu cores dont improve performance, cores is marketing glamor, you need separate ultra energy efficient processors to clip data and accelerate it.
This was before Vista decided to make Directx 10.1.....making directx 10 cards.......not so advantageous? jesus microsoft, manage to piss off everyone....
Vista does suck for the moment but I predict in a year once all these games are out, it will be just like upgrading to XP after SP2. As for the graphical/processing power, well you can never keep up unless you know how to overclock.
all bullcrap people trying to sell their new overpriced hardware... and yes hamadatoon i bet your machine will run it too. No company will ever make a game so high detailed only people with highend computers can play it because they wont have enough people buying the game! use your brains people!
um im sad you didnt know this but to break it to you the extreme just means the multiplier is unlocked so more overclocking capability but no gain if you dont overclock. On top of that these new games use more than one core so quad is def a good idea.
so, what, if you are running a AMD 5600+ CPU with a 8800gts, you are fucked? This, video is the biggest bullshit I have ever seen in my life. So, basically they are seeing you need to have a intel core 2 duo and a 8800 series gpu to run crysis? Plus, the are also just trying to make you buy Vista(Which Sucks) and intel.
What this tells me is if you are running a AMD CPU with a ATI GPU on Windows XP you are fucked.
If both Nvidia and Intel are involved in the games development then they will be making sure it is better optimized for their hardware over the competitions, I am also sure Microsoft will do everything in their power to make the game run best on Vista and screw over XP performance. They are desperate for justifications to adopt Vista, DX10 or not.
I think that the problem here is... people that don't have the latest technology for a game that isn't even released yet, which boasts such great graphics and physics... are moaning. If I wanted to play a graphically and CPU intesive game and I had a shit computer, you would think that I wouldn't blame the company that created the game but rather go out and buy some new friggin' hardware.
What about my post suggested anything about hardware power? I am talking about BS sponsorship that makes sure games run better on specific brands of hardware, while getting lower performance on just as technically advanced hardware under a competitors brand. Stuff like when Half Life 2 first came out and it scored better on ATI cards across the line despite Nvidia doing better in pretty much every other game.
Games can be tweaked to artificially favor performance from certain tech.
well at the moment ATI is clearly behind with no Dx10 graphics cards, and the fact is that Dx10 is more efficient and besides, it is the next step in software development whether we like it or not. You can't criticize developers for embracing new technology, and when ATI get their act together they will get endorsed too.
the thing is .. you don't need Vista to run this game, XP will be just fine, there are websites like tomshardware where they already compared the two of them, and it takes a really keen appreciation for fine details to tell the difference. So no, you won't have to fork out a fortune to enjoy this game ..
wow, in my country a high end pc is $25,000.00, but i'm still saving. lol. I'll build it myself so that i won't get ripped off and get a pentium 4 pc for 20 thousand. lol. i'll build a monster for only $15,000.00. yes crysis, it's all for you. well, not really but it will be build to meet your optimal system requirements. Finally, a developer remembered the pc gamers god damn it. finally. by the way, HAZE is the cheesiest game I've ever seen.

Try it, load Crysis and look at your core utilization.

@AnnoyedDragon Well. Maybe the CryEngine 2 doesn't, I know CryEngine 3 does. Though I am pretty sure CE2 does. But what the hell. Doesn't matter.

Best grpahics cards that will run this game wihout sweating it one bit are
Ati firegl v5600,v7200,v7300,v7700,v8600,v8650
Ati firepro v3700,v5700,v8700
Quadro FX (better choice) 3700,4600,4700,4800,5600,5800
This cards are meant for more powerful applications including designing game worlds. So playing games is not an issue.
I use the ati firegl v7600 connected to two dell 30 inch monitors at their highest resolution

wrong those dont have the brut power the gamer series cards do when you develope a game you render each frame so it may be as slow as .02 frames
philhalo66 3 years ago
those are design for cadd designs and 3d simulations, not realistic real time graphics required for gaming
