"aren't we friends anymore...if you find him i wanna talk to him alone". hahaha how he shoots right back into the conversation with tom. very, very clever writing, coen's. bravo.
"A little less you talk, a little more you think!"
Sound advice for all of us, at any age. And cracking the chubby little shit across the chops makes sure he won't forget. People are too soft on kids nowadays, especially noisy little asshats like this one.
@ishtarg8 Man, I hate kids, but that's why I'll never have any and I hope sick fools like you never do either. It's people like you that have produced a population of millions of people who are fucked in the head. I doubt you're capable of raising a sane, productive person so do the world a favor and always wear a jimmy or get snipped.
...ehhh, not so much a heart as it is him telling himself "well, I see their father-son relationship is good". The look on his face is mild interested at best, which turns into a grin that says "hey, he's your kid." Not much heart in him, if at all...at least for that scene...maybe a little :)
Captures perfectly a certain mentality of 'passive-aggression' coupled with a propensity for raw violence.....All in all, a well-crafted classic mobster persona, don't you think.....?
@rexmundi2012 I'd say it's just total callousness and Johnny won't be messed with by anyone (although, he's still a bit stupider than the other gangsters). These gangsters are in control, and that means that they control their families as well. A good scene to show that they dish out violence as they wish. I love this movie!
Only the Coens can make hitting a child hilarious.

@jfkjrlover That's just a bit harsh...you were once a kid. And I've never heard of the term "jimmy" before. Out of U.S. I'm guessing?

Is this movie supposed to be a comedy?
NationalMan 1 year ago
@NationalMan No. It's a Coen Brother's Movie. All their movies no matter how serious have a funny moment or two.

You see the look on Tom's face when Caspar strikes his kid? Tom tries to hide it, but he does have a heart.
