Vorrei tanto risentire il madrigale di Marenzio "scendi dal paradiso" che eseguivo vent'anni or sono nel gruppo "I Madrigalisti di Magliano in Toscana". Se qualcuno ha un video disponibile glie ne sarò davvero grato.
I don't think there any wrong notes here. The score was revised several times by a group of professional conductors lead by me, as well as all the rehearsals.
Maybe it has to do with the acoustics, the recording was made with a very old video cam.
If you can point exactly were do you think there are wrong notes I can verify it myself.
bar 110, soprano, "e fiorir"...they sing Eb F F instead D Eb F, as written. you have to pitch this note if you have a different tune on your score, mine is in F with three flat on key (primero modo)-
Very well sung, and with very good italian pronunciation (I'm italian).
Only a detail regarding the text:
"ogni animal d'amAr si riconsiglia" (short form for "amare", the verb "love" at the infinite tense) and not "amor" (which is a noun).
Means something like "every animal becomes willing to love again [after giving up in winter, let's say]" but it's not so easy to translate. I Hope I was not too obscure.
XIV century, I'm fully aware of that.. That's the reason for the error: this "riconsiglia" is outdated now, so most people don't realize that a verb fits it MUCH better than a noun.
Many (online) music editions have amOr; but consider that the error is quite subtle to recognise even for italians and most editors are not.
As a general aid, check the text of madrigals with philologically careful editions of the poem (no mention for amOr, in this case), as such unwanted modif. are common.
This choir is an interesting blend: the students of the Licenciatura en Música de la Universidad de los Andes and guest singers. There is a great deal of talent in this group.
I agree with both pira and zaff, congradulations it was wonderful, im italian myself and its wonderful just to listen to, i have to pick a song from a looong time ago and chose luca marenzio, this is the on im choosing =)
I spent a lot of rehearsal time teaching the singers the proper pronounciation of the text. I took Italian as musician second lenguage studies in the University. Good to hear some like it so much, thanks for posting!
I used to sing in a choir myself, and we used to sing this song too. The pronunciation is perfect. Actually, I thought you were Italian. :^) Thank you very much.
Thanks for the feedback! So good you liked it. I had to take a year of the most common languages for music in college (italian, german, and french), and I took the pronunciation very seriously as part of my version. Also, this was a very professional choir.
Bravo Moyo!.. " dirigís como los grandes!"... felicitaciones a todos los estudiantes, estuvieron magnificos.. aún recuerdo la emoción de haberlos escuchado en directo, fue genial, definitivamente una noche que quedará para la historia..

Good point.
The score from were we learn it had written what you hear: d´amOr.
Also, this is a poem taken from Francesco Petrarca, who lived in the XV century, so the dialect differs a bit from nowadays italian.
Thanks for the comment anyway, always nice to learn something new!

Madrigals by rather important choirs are not often convincing, but this is a beautiful exception ! :-)
